NIPS 시스템은 중성자 핵반응 결과 방출되는 즉발 감마선을 정량적으로 측정하는 장치이며 고체 및 액체 폐기물 중 존재하는 다양한 원소를 비파괴적으로 분석할 수 있는 장점이 있다. 본 연구에서는 NIPS 시스템에 이용된 고순도반도체 검출기의 계측효율을 Ba 및 Eu 방사성 동위원소 선원과 Cl(n, ) Cl 핵반응 시 발생되는 즉발감마선을 이용하여 80 keV에서 8 MeV까지 넓은 영역에 대하여 구하였다. Cl(n, ) Cl 핵반응을 이용한 고에너지 감마선의 계측효율은 즉발감마선의 방사능 값을 정확히 알 수 없기 때문에 저 에너지 영역에서 정확히 알고 있는 검출기 효율곡선에 규격화시켜 전 에너지 영역에서의 효율보정곡선을 구하였다. 또한 KCl 표준용액에 Cf 중성자 선원을 조사시켜 표준용액으로부터 방출되는 즉발 감마선을 고순도반도체 검출기로 측정하고 광대역 계측효율 곡선을 이용하여 수용액 시료에서의 평균 열중성자 속을 예측하였다. NIPS 측정시스템은 주변 재료 물질의 핵반응으로 방출되는 감마선 background를 줄이기 위해 두 개의 고순도반도체 검출기를 이용한 동시계수 장치가 고안되었으며, 동시계수 모드에서의 계측효율도 함께 고려되었으며, 표준선원을 이용하여 전 계수 또는 동시계수모드에서의 background에 대한 측정감도를 비교하였다.다. Neutron induced prompt gamma-ray spectroscopy(NIPS) system measures the prompt gamma-ray emitting by the interaction of a neutron with various materials. This system will be of great benefit to scientists worldwide, since it provides the non-destructive measurement of many element in either solid or liquid wastes. In this study, the full-energy-peak (FEP) efficiency calibration for a HPGe detector was constructed in the -ray energy range from 80 keV to 8 MeV, using Ba and >TEX>$^{152}Eu$ RI sources and $ ^{35}Cl(n, )^{36}Cl$ thermal neutron captured reaction. The FEP efficiency curve for the higher energies using the $^{35}Cl(n, )^{36}Cl$ reaction was normalized with the curve obtained from the RI sources, since the accurate activity of its prompt -ray is unknown. The average thermal neutron flux was theoretically calculated using the FEP efficiency curve for the KCl standard solutions. The NIPS system equipped with a - coincidence setup with two n-type coaxial HPGe detectors was considered in order to reduce the interfering -ray background. The FEP efficiency curve for the - coincidence system was also obtained for full energy range. The performance of the normal and coincidence NIPS system was tested by comparing signal-to-noise ratio in each mode using the reference sample.e.
Workgroup ATM System의 ATM NIC 25를 이용한 VoD System 설계에 관한 연구

본 논문은 workgroup ATM system에서 많은 사용이 예상되는 ATM 25Mbps급 네트워크 카드를 제작하고, 제작된 카드를 Windows NT OS를 사용하는 PC compatible 하드웨어를 통해 ATM switch에 접속시켜 테스트한 내용을 기술한다. 테스트는 멀티미디어 데이터 송수신 시험을 하는 현태로 이루어졌다. 시스템은 ATM Forum의 uni 3.1 signaling 소프트웨어를 이용하여, 드라이버 형태로 만들어서 사용하였고, 테스트는 상용 스위치를 이용하여 server & client 형태로 시험하였다. 또한 제작된 카드를 사용하여 native ATM service를 사용하는 VoD 시스템을 설계하였다. 실험적으로 만든 VoD 시스템을 통해 동영상 정보를 송수신하여 멀티미디어 서비슬 이용할 수 있는 설계 방법을 고찰하였고, 그 결과 ActivMovie를 이용하여 플레이어를 내장 시킨 형태의 VoD 시스템을 구현하였다.
라플라스 변환과 유한요소법의 결합에 의한 확산방정식의 해석

In this paper, a algorithm is proposed, which is applicable to the transient analysis of diffusion equations by combined use of the Laplace transform and the finite element method. The proposed method removes the time terms using the Laplace transform and then solves the associated equation with the finite element method. The solution which is solved at frequency domain is transformed into time domain by use of the Laplace inversion. To verify the proposed algorithm, a heat conduction problem is analysed. And the solution showed a good agreement with analytic solution. Because the time-step method is not needed, the proposed method is very useful in solving various kinds of diffusion equations.

N/A Objective : The purpose of this study was to compare the neonatal and maternal infectious morbidity between single and multiple courses of antenatal betamethasone treatment in patients with preterm premature rupture of membranes. Methods : One hundred seventy patients who delivered neonates between 28 and 34 weeks' gestation after preterm premature rupture of membranes from January 1992 to July 2000 were reviewed retrospectively. Patients were divided into 3 groups on the basis of the following betamethasone exposures: (1) none (control subjects), (2) betamethasone 4 mg IM, IV simultaneously and then 4 mg IV q 8 hours for 24 hours (single course) and (3) weekly administration after initial single course (multiple courses). All included patients received prophylactic antibiotics for group B streptococci. The statistical analyses were done using χ2 test, Fisher's exact test and one way analysis of variance (ANOVA). Multiple logistic regression analysis was performed to determine the confounding effect of the multiple variables those were considered as risk factors for neonatal sepsis. Results : This study included 67 patients in the control group, 60 patients in the single course group, and 43 patients in the multiple courses group. The latency (p=.0001) was significantly longer in the patients exposed to multiple course than the patients in the control group and those in the single course group. No significant difference was demonstrated in the incidence of neonatal sepsis (p=.881) and postpartum endometritis (p=.619) among the three groups. Neonatal sepsis was significantly associated with clinical chorioamnionitis (p=.022). Conclusion : According to our data, multiple courses of antenatal betamethasone treatment in patients with preterm premature rupture of membranes was not associated with the increased incidence of neonatal sepsis and postpartum endometritis.
Tissue transglutaminase 2 promotes apoptosis of rat neonatal cardiomyocytes under oxidative stress

<P>The role of tissue transglutaminase 2 (TG2) in cardiac myocyte apoptosis under oxidative stress induced by ischemic injury remains unclear. Here, we investigated the effects of TG2 on apoptosis of cardiomyocytes under oxidative stress. Ectopic expression of TG2 increased caspase-3 activity and calcium overload in cardiomyocytes. Expression levels of TG2 were significantly increased in H<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>2</SUB>-treated cardiomyocytes. Caspase-3 activity assay demonstrated its considerable correlation with TG2 expression, which supported that caspase-3 inhibitor inhibited the apoptosis induced by the ectopic overexpression of TG2. In addition, the other apoptotic signals, such as caspase-8, cytochrome <I>c</I>, and Bax, were increased dependent with TG2 expression in H<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>2</SUB>-treated cardiomyocytes. These results indicated that apoptotic signals had a positive correlation with TG2 expression. The decreased expression of phospholipase C (PLC)-δ1 and phospho-PKC in H<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>2</SUB>-treated cardiomyocytes were rescued by TG2 silencing. Together, our data strongly suggest that oxidative stress up-regulates TG2 expression in cardiomyocytes, leading to apoptosis.</P>
