Gingko biloba is one of the oldest trees on earth. It can be traced 300 million years or more into past. In recent years, this tree has become increasingly popular because of its longevity. Amount of comsumption of Gingko leaves in Korea is increased to produce drugs for blood circulating system's disorder. The workers who work at the company of product drug with Gingko leaves complain pruritus at belt position of west, however toxic substance from extracts of Gingko biloba was carried out to determine what kind of the toxic substance from extract could induce a contact dermatitis by means of histopathological study. Dried leaves of Korean G. biloba were exhaustively extracted with chloroform. The aqueous chloroform residue was extracted with hexane. After evaporation, the hexane extract was passed through a silica gel column chromatography, it was separated into 9 fractions by means of gradient solvent(benzene: acetone/ 98~93:2~7%). The 4th and 7th fraction were idendified as bilibol and gingkolic acid by silica gel thin layer chromatography and NMR spectrophotometer. The 4th and 7th fractions of Korean Gingko leaves have an irritant substances which can be induced ear swelling and increased thickness of stratum cornium of rabbit ear exposed with the fractions (3 time/3 day, 100μl of 50mg/ml ethyl alcohol). In the 4th fraction, the substance have induced the surface of ear to swell and mass of unknown cell like inflammatory cell were infiltrated within the stratum corneum, and the 7th fraction have the surface of ear to loss the hairs, and sebaceous gland and follicle of hair were infiltrated with inflammatory cells, and other fractions at all did not induced a certain contact dermatitis and also Deutschen drug of Gingko (named as Gerigeron) have induced the contact dermatitis such as dematitis of Korean Gingko extract.

The demand for platinum group metals (PGMs) as raw materials for various advanced industries has been growing due to their excellent physical and chemical properties. Since the mineral resources are confined to few countries, the secure supply of PGMs becomes an issue to related industries. Recently, domestic companies has been endeavored to recover PGMs from various secondary resources. Unfortunately, most of them suffer from the lack of refining technology. Unlike the mineral resources, the conventional refining technology is difficult to apply directly to secondary resources since they contain wide spectrum of metals, contents and form of the existence. In this paper, the refining process for PGMs currently in operation in a commercial factory is introduced. The solution chemistry, which is the basis of separation & purification, is described in terms of chloro-complex widely used in real processes. In addition, the minerals of PGMs, production, and application in various industries are also discussed briefly. The investigation and review of the technology trend would help to set up the R&D strategy to realize the recycling of PGMs from domestic secondary resources.
放射線治療 후 全身的症勢의 發現을 나타낸 Midline Malignant Reticulosis 患者群에 對한 再考

During a 10 year periods, 42 patients with well-documented Midline Malignant Reticulosis were treated with local irradiation and followed for extended periods of time. 13 cases with systemic manifestation after irradiation illustrate the protean features of this disease. Although it commonly presents in upper airway tracts such as nasal cavity and/or septum, soft palate and palatine tonsil, the lesion may be localized as well as diffuse. 2 cases among them showed systemic relapse on lung, pancreas and scrotum probably from either a multifucal or metastatic deposits. Another 3 cases were associated with systemic diseases such as stomach carcinoma, typhoid enteritis and CNI of fat tissue. Remained cases were diagnosed by clinical or radiological examination. Possibility of close relation to lymphoma with Midline Malignant Reticulosis are also suggested in 1 case. In Midline Malignant Reticulosis, the best results of treatment are obtained in localized lesion of the upper airway treated early with irradiation: A poorer outcome is associated with multifocal systemic involvement, which necessitates a systemic therapy.
