This paper is concerned with the damage of road sign by strong wind. The need of a study on wind load of the road sign has been recognized for many years. The wind tunnel tests have been conducted on five types road sign model of wind force and moment coefficient in turbulent boundary layer flows. The effects of wind force are examined with three different road sign plate sizes and two different structure of road signs. Actual wind load can be different from the accounting regulation. Therefore, we compare experiment data with standard data. We find many similarities between experiment data and regulation data. And its results are presented in this paper.

This study survey the characteristics of along-wind loadings based on wind tunnel test. To analyze along-wind loading, the High Frequency Force Balance Tests have been conducted on 27 types aero-elastic model of the rectangular prism with various aspect ratio, side ratio and surface roughness in turbulent boundary layer flows. In this study, expression of along wind loading are mainly analyzed as a function of the aspects ratios, side ratios and various roughness of buildings.

Multi-bay gable roof buildings are commonly used in a number of industries. This wind-tunnel study has been carried out to assess wind loads on one and multi-bay gable roofs of low-rise buildings. This paper compared one bay with multi bay model. The length b of the one bay model represent full-scale building was 200m and the width d of the span was 32m. The mean height of the roof h was 15.7m. One bay model is long span and low-rise building. Multi bay model with five span low-rise building of a large scale. Peak external wind pressure coefficient and cladding wind loads were measured on model with one and five bay model. The results indicate that peak external wind pressure coefficient on the roof edge and corner was increased. And the results compared with wind standard of KBC-S2005. One and multi bay model were somewhat larger than wind standard.

This study summarizes basic results on the characteristics of the vertical distribution of mean wind pressure, which is needed to estimate reasonable vertical wind load of tall buildings. Aspect ratio of rectangular wind pressure models have been fixed to six and side ratios are changed into 15 type. Wind pressure tests are conducted on the Boundary Layer Wind Tunnel at Kumoh National Institute of Technology. The characteristics of vertical mean wind pressure distribution with respect to various side ratios are analyzed into windward direction and leeward. From these results, empirical formula for distribution of mean wind pressure with respect to height of windward and leeward direction were proposed
풍하중을 받는 고층건축물의 변장비 변화에 따른 구조축방향의 동적응답 특성

이 연구는 고층건축물이 풍하중을 받을 때 변장비의 변화에 따라 구조축방향으로 풍응답이 어떻게 배분되어 가는지를 규명한 것이다. 변장비가 다른 3종류의 장방형 강체모형을 경계층 풍동 내에 설치하여 풍력실험을 수행하였다. 풍력실험으로부터 얻어진 변동모우멘트계수와 변동모우멘트의 파워스펙트럼밀도를 사용하여 스펙트럼모드해석법에 의하여 고층건축물의 응답을 평가하였고, X축방향의 풍응답과 Y방향의 풍응답을 비교하고 그 차이점을 분석하였다. 결과로부터 대상 고층건축물의 경우 모든 변장비에서 Y방향의 동적인 응답이 X방향 보다 큰 것을 알 수 있었다. The purpose of this study is to examine the difference of the structural axis directions response of tall buildings according to varying side ratios under wind actions. High Frequency Force Balance (HFFB) test was conducted on using elastic model of prismatic section with 3 types of side ratios in turbulent boundary layer flows. Tall building responses were estimated by Spectral Modal Analysis based on the values, such as fluctuating moment coefficient and power spectral density, acquired by the HFFB test. Finally, wind force responses of X-direction were compared to those of Y-direction and the differences of the two are pointed out. From the results, it is known that the dynamic responses of Y-direction are larger than those of X-direction to the all side ratios.

Side ratio of rectangular wind pressure models have been fixed to one and aspect ratios are changed into 4 types. Wind pressure tests are conducted on the Boundary Layer Wind Tunnel at Kumoh National Institute of Technology. The characteristics of vertical mean wind pressure distribution with respect to various heights of buildings are analyzed into windward direction and leeward. The result shows that wind pressure is decreased as the aspect ratio is decreased.

This study aims at proposing empirical equations of the across-wind induced response of rectangular tall buildings. In order to estimate empirical formula, wind tunnel tests have been conducted on aero-elastic model of rectangular prisms with various roughness of surface, breadth-to-depth, various terrain categories and side ratios in turbulent boundary layer flows. In this paper, criteria of across-wind induced response is briefly discussed and then these results were mainly analyzed as a function of the side ratios of buildings. Finally, approximate equation for the across-wind induced response(displacement, acceleration and wind load) were proposed as the function of fluctuating overturning moment coefficient and wind force spectral coefficient. Comparison of the across-wind responses determined by the proposed formulas and the results estimated by wind loading code of AIJ-2004 are made to examine the accuracy of the proposed simplified formulas. It is shown from the comparisons that the proposed simplified formulas can be served as an useful tool for the design and analysis of across-wind effects on rectangular tall buildings.
