The advantages in the use of low concentration ratio optics in photovoltaic applications are that the system can be a stationary and that a planar cell could be used as a concentrating cell, resulting in significant cost reductions of greater than 25% compared to a conventional planar PV module or system. Optics that are well-designed would provide a uniform distribution of concentrated radiation flux on the cell which enhance the fill factor of the cell, as well as preserving the life of the cells. A photovoltaic-thermal system is suggested as an application.

In mobile phones of multimedia era, microspeakers of high qualify sound are essential parts to generate human voice in speaker phone and MP3 song player. In this paper, two types of microspeakers, outer permanent magnet (PM) and combined PM type, are analyzed using electromagnetic, mechanical and their coupling analysis. For performance comparison, voice coil diameter is chosen as a design parameter to change excitation position and magnet volume for both types. For combined PM type, sound pressure level (SPL) is improved due to increased PM volume compared to outer PM type. Also, with the decreased voice coil diameter for combined PM type, the 1st resonant mode of the diaphragm is more efficiently excited due to concentrative excitation, resulting in lower and broader frequency range. Therefore, it can be said that the combined PM type microspeakers are more advantageous for high performance microspeaker which are essential for multimedia era.

There has been a need for an operational curriculum for teaching Chinese characters used by traditional Korean medicine (TKM), but the it was not thoroughly reviewed so far. We analysed the frequency of unicode Chinese characters with five textbooks of traditional Korean medicine used as a national standard. We found that 氣, 經, 陽, 陰, 不, 熱, 血, 脈, 病, 證, 寒, 中, 心, 痛, 虛, 大, 生, 治, 本, 之are the 20 most frequently used Chinese characters, and also showed 100 frequently used characters for each textbook. We used a cumulative frequency analysis method to suggest a list of 1,000 prerequisite Chinese characters for the TKM education (TKM 1000). which represents the current usage of Chinese characters in TKM and covers 99% of all textbook use if combined with MEST 1800. This study showed prerequisite and essential Chinese characters for the implementation of evidence-based teaching in TKM. The TKM 1000, a prerequisite characters by this study based on the TKM textbooks can be used for the development of Korean Medicine Education Eligibility Test (KEET), entrance exam to the Colleges of Oriental Medicine or textbooks, and educational curriculum for premed students.

공학교육에 있어서 실험실습교육의 중요성은 매우 크다. 그러나 국내 공학교육현장에서는 예산, 시설 및 인력 등의 이유로 해서 최근까지도 실험실습교육이 형식적이고 취약한 것으로 나타나 있다. 부산대학교 기계공학부는 지난 몇 년간 국책사업 지원을 받아 실험실습교육 혁신을 추구하여, 정보화, 자동화 등의 다학제적 접근을 요구하는 기계공학의 발전 추세에 적응할 수 있는 창의적 현장적응력을 갖춘 우수한 기계공학도를 효과적으로 양성할 수 있는 실험실습교육체계를 구축해왔다. 본 글에서는 부산대학교 공과대학 기계공학부에서 추진하고 있는 실험실습 교육 강화 및 혁신 사례를 기계/전자/컴퓨터의 통합실험 실습, 실험분야의 계통화를 통한 체계적 운영 및 점진적 심화 교육, 대규모 교육 대상에 대한 효율적인 운영, 창의성 유도 실험실습 등을 중심 내용으로 기술하였다. Laboratory work is so much important in the engineering education. But laboratory work program at most domestic engineering education institutes is still poor and could not have been actively improved and reinforced due to the difficulty in preparing the necessary fund, facilities, professional personnel and so on. The school of mechanical engineering in Pusan National University, sponsored by the national special engineering education project, has poured intensive and strong efforts into improving and strengthening laboratory work program in the courses of education. In this paper, the brief content of the improved laboratory work program and the established system for putting through the program effectively are introduced around the topics such as the integrating laboratory work of mechanical/electronic/computer engineerings, systematic managing and progressive deepening of the laboratory level through the classification of the laboratory works, education system for putting through efficiently the program for a large mass of students and program for encouraging the creativity.
