A package of space science instruments, dubbed the Instruments for the Study of Space Storms (ISSS), is proposed for the NextGeneration Small Satellite-1 (NEXTSat-1), which is scheduled for launch in May 2016. This paper describes the instrumentdesigns and science missions of the ISSS. The ISSS configuration in NEXTSat-1 is as follows: the space radiation monitoringinstruments consist of medium energy particle detector (MEPD) and high energy particle detector (HEPD); the space plasmainstruments consist of a Langmuir probe (LP), a retarding potential analyzer (RPA), and an ion drift meter (IDM). The spaceradiation monitoring instruments (MEPD and HEPD) measure electrons and protons in parallel and perpendicular directionsto the geomagnetic field in the sub-auroral region, and they have a minimum time resolution of 50 msec for locating the regionof the particle interactions with whistler mode waves and electromagnetic ion cyclotron (EMIC) waves. The MEPD measureselectrons and protons with energies of tens of keV to ~400 keV, and the HEPD measures electrons with energies of ~100 keV to> ~1 MeV and protons with energies of ~10 MeV. The space plasma instruments (LP, RPA, and IDM) observe irregularities inthe low altitude ionosphere, and the results will be compared with the scintillations of the GPS signals. In particular, the LP isdesigned to have a sampling rate of 50 Hz in order to detect these small-scale irregularities.

Thirty cases of Decubitus Ulcer patients treated at Chonnam University Medical School Hospital during 10 years from January -of 1964 to December of 1973 were reviewed and the following results were obtained 1. Preponderance of male to female (23: 7) was noted. 2. The common etiologic disease was traumatic in origin (60%) such as traumatic cord injury and traumatic head injury. 3. Prevalent age distribution was between 3rd decade and 5th decade (80%). 4. The most frequent site of the lesion was sacral region which was easily pressed in a patient confined to bed for a-long period of time. 5. It seems that regular two-Hourly change of patient's position during day and night is best choice of preventive measure in decubitus ulcer.
THE EFFECT OF DUST PARTICLES ON ION ACOUSTIC SOLITARY WAVES IN A DUSTY PLASMA
최정림,이대영,김용기 한국우주과학회 2004 Journal of Astronomy and Space Sciences Vol.21 No.3
In this paper we have examined the effect of dust charge density on nonlinear ion acoustic solitary wave which propagates obliquely with respect to the external magnetic field in a dusty plasma. For the dusty charge density below a critical value, the Sagdeev potential $\Psi(n)$ has a singular point in the region $n<1$, where $n$ is the ion number density divided by its equilibrium number density. If there exists a dust charge density over the critical value, the Sagdeev potential becomes a finite function in the region $n<1$, which means that there may exist the rarefactive ion acoustic solitary wave. By expanding the Sagdeev potential in the small amplitude limit up to $\delta n^4$ near $n=1$, we find the solution of ion acoustic solitary wave. Therefore we suggest that the dust charge density plays an important role in generating the rarefactive solitary wave.
Statistical Characteristics of Solar Wind Dynamic Pressure Enhancements During Geomagnetic Storms

Solar wind dynamic pressure enhancements are known to cause various types of disturbances to the magnetosphere. In particular, dynamic pressure enhancements may affect the evolution of magnetic storms when they occur during storm times. In this paper, we have investigated the statistical significance and features of dynamic pressure enhancements during magnetic storm times. For the investigation, we have used a total of 91 geomagnetic storms for 2001-2003, for which the Dst minimum ($Dst_{min}$) is below --50 nT. Also, we have imposed a set of selection criteria for a pressure enhancement to be considered an event: The main selection criterion is that the pressure increases by $\geq 50$\% or $\geq 3$ nPa within 30 min and remains to be elevated for 10 min or longer. For our statistical analysis, we define the storm time to be the interval from the main Dst decrease, through $Dst_{min}$, to the point where the Dst index recovers by 50\%. Our main results are summarized as follows. (i)$\sim$ 81\% of the studied storms indicate at least one event of pressure enhancements. When averaged over all the 91 storms, the occurrence rate is $\sim$ 4.5 pressure enhancement events per storm and $\sim$ 0.15 pressure enhancement events per hour. (ii) The occurrence rate of the pressure enhancements is about three times higher for CME-driven storm times than for CIR-driven storm times. (iii) Only 21.1\% of the pressure enhancements show a clear association with an interplanetary shock. (iv) A large number of the pressure enhancement events are accompanied with a simultaneous change of IMF $B_y$ and/or $B_z$: For example, 73.5\% of the pressure enhancement events are associated with an IMF change of either $\left |\Delta B_z \right | > 2$ nT or $\left |\Delta B_y \right | > 2$ nT. This last finding suggests that one should consider possible interplay effects between the simultaneous pressure and IMF changes in many situations.
