모든 전통 가옥은 조상들의 지혜가 잘 반영되어 있는 주거문화이다. 한옥이란 이땅에 한민족이 수천년동안 살아오면서 자생적으로 혹은 문화접변에 의한 간접적 경험들이 걸러서 한국인들에게 적합한 쪽으로 발전한 주거 양식이다. 한옥의 경우와 비슷한 중국 전통 사합원은 높게 지은 현대 아파트보다 사람들이 함께 사는 공간이면서 공동체 생활을 할 수 있다는 특징이 있다.
Suzuki-Miyaura C-C Coupling on Single-Atom-Based Metal-Organic Polyhedra

Homogeneous mixation at a molecular level makes seperation of the molecular catalyst extremely challenging and costly. It has been desired to find a supporting material designed in molecular level to anchor a single-atom catalyst and provide high degree of dispersion and substrate access in aqueous media. Here, we prepared discrete cages of metal-organic polyhedra anchoring single Pd atom [MOP-BPY(Pd)] and successfully performed a Suzuki-Miyaura coupling reaction with various substrates in aqueous media. The coupling efficiencies of the Suzuki-Miyaura coupling reaction exhibited more than 90.0 % for various substrates we have tested in the aqueous media, which is superior to those of the molecular Pd complex and metal-organic framework (MOF) anchoring Pd atoms. Moreover, MOP-BPY(Pd) was successfully recovered and recycled without performance degradation.
Surface-enhanced infrared detection of benzene in air using a porous metal-organic-frameworks film

Infrared (IR) spectroscopy is a powerful technique for observing organic molecules, as it combines sensitive vibrational excitations with a non-destructive probe. However, gaseous volatile compounds in the air are challenging to detect, as they are not easy to immobilize in a sensing device and give enough signal by themselves. In this study, we fabricated a thin nanocrystalline metal-organic framework (nMOF) film on a surface plasmon resonance (SPR) substrate to enhance the IR vibration signal of the gaseous volatile compounds captured within the nMOF pores. Specifically, we synthesized nanocrystalline HKUST-1 (nHKUST-1) particles of ca. 80 nm diameter and used a colloidal dispersion of these particles to fabricate nHKUST-1 films by a spin-coating process. After finding that benzene was readily adsorbed onto nHKUST-1, an nHKUST-1 film deposited on a plasmonic Au substrate was successfully applied to the IR detection of gaseous benzene in air using surface-enhanced IR spectroscopy

Metal?organic frameworks (MOFs) have introduced heterogeneity in their homogeneous matrix to create new functions that cannot be realized by each MOF individually. In this study, we chemically combined two different MOFs (UiO-66 and HKUST-1) in granola-type granules (termed as HKUST-1?UiO-66) to create a heterojunction of pores in nanocrystalline particles. The structure, morphology, elemental composition, and pore environment were characterized to confirm that two types of pores are in conjunction all over the HKUST-1?UiO-66 granules. We found that the HKUST-1?UiO-66 granules showed an enhanced CO2 sorption capacity than its constituents due to the complexity and the heterojunction of pores inside. Moreover, the HKUST-1?UiO-66 granules present four and two times higher formaldehyde removal capacity than those of the HKUST-1 and UiO-66 samples, respectively.
