      • 水中延伸 PET필름의 熱的 特性과 表面張力

        The thermal characteristics and surface tensions of poly(ethylene terephthalate) films drawn in the water were measured by DSC and two-liquid contact angle method. The crystallization temperature of drawn film was decreased with increasing draw ratio. It is attributed to the plasticization effect of PET by water molecule. The surface tension of the drawn film was slighthy increased with draw ratio and the increase of surface tension was mainly due to the contribution of the polar component of the surface tension.

        Sperm nuclear DNA fragmentation and chromatin structure in one-day-old ejaculated sperm

        Objective: To evaluate sperm nuclear DNA fragmentation and chromatin structure after 18 hours’incubation at room temperature. Methods: Twenty-eight male partners who participating IVF treatment were prospectively included in this study. Ejaculated sperm count and motility were assessed. The sperm was then immediately processed by the conventional swim-up method. After utilization of some of the sample for routine clinical use, the remainder of each of the samples was divided into two aliquots. One aliquot was immediately assessed for sperm nuclear DNA fragmentation (TUNEL assay) and chromatin structure (toluidine blue [TB] staining). The other aliquot was incubated at room temperature for 18 hours and then assessed by two methods. Only dark-TB sperms were considered as having abnormal chromatin structure. Data before and after extended incubation were compared using a paired Student’s t-test. Results: Before and after extended culture, nuclear DNA fragmentation assessed by TUNEL was 4.9±4.7% and 7.0±6.4%, respectively (p=0.008). The proportion of abnormal chromatin structure (dark-TB sperm) was 8.2±5.6% and 10.3±6.5% (p<0.001), before and after incubation, respectively. Conclusion: After 18 hours’ incubation at room temperature, sperm nuclear DNA and chromatin structure were significantly affected. The IVF practitioner should bear this information in mind when performing delayed insemination, especially for in vitro maturation cycles.

        내경정맥 혈전증을 동반한 중증 난소과자극증후군 1예

        과배란유도 후 혈전색전증의 발생은 매우 드물지만 중증 난소과자극증후군이 발생한 경우 혈전증의 고위험군으로 간주된다. 저자들은 체외수정시술 후 발생한 중증 난소과자극증후군으로 입원 치료 중인 환자에서 내경정맥 혈전증이 발생한 증례를 경험하였기에 보고하는 바이다, 환자는 체외수정시술 후 임신이 되었으며, 중증 난소과자극증후군으로 입원 치료 중 임상적 관해를 보이는 단계에서 내경정맥 혈전증이 발생하여 지속적인 항응고치료를 받았다. 혈전증은 치료 후 호전이 되었으나 태아는 계류유산되었다. 난소과자극증후군 환자에서 혈전색전증의 발생은 예측이 어렵고 적절한 치료에도 불구하고 발생한다고 하나 일단 중증 난소과자극증후군이 발생하면 혈전성향증 관련 인자들의 측정과 더불어 예방적인 저분자량 헤파린의 사용을 고려해 보는 것이 타당하리라 사료된다. Thromboembolic disease associated with superovulation is extremely rare, but severe ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome is considered as one of the most important risk factors. We recently experienced a case of deep vein thrombosis occurring at left internal jugular, subclavian, and innominate vein combined with severe ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. She experienced a miscarriage, and the thrombi were resolved completely after anticoagulant therapy. Although thromboembolic phenomenon is hard to predict, and occurs in spite of appropriate management of severe ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome, the measurement of factors associated with thrombophilia and prophylactic use of low dose heparin are recommended.

        In vitro growth of mouse preantral follicles: effect of animal age and stem cell factor/insulin-like growth factor supplementation

        Objective: To determine whether animal age impacts in vitro preantral follicle growth. Effects of hCG, stem cell factor (SCF), and/or insulin-like growth factor (IGF) supplementation in growth medium were also investigated. Methods: Intact preantral follicles were mechanically isolated from fresh ovaries of BDF1 mice and cultured in growth medium for 9 to 11 days. Surviving follicles with antrum formation were transferred to maturation medium for 14 to 18 hours. Follicle survival, antrum formation, and retrieval of metaphase II (MII) oocytes were compared among three age categories (4-5, 7-8, and 10-11 week-old). By using 7- to 8-week-old mice, preantral follicles were cultured in growth medium supplemented with hCG (0, 5, or 10 mIU/mL), SCF (50 ng/mL), IGF-1 (50 ng/mL), and SCF+IGF-1. Results: Seven- to eight-week-old mice showed a higher follicle survival and antrum formation and produced more MII oocytes compared to other groups. In the 7- to 8-week-old mice, supplementation of 5 mIU/mL hCG significantly enhanced the antrum formation but the percentage of MII oocytes was similar to that of the control. Supplementation of SCF+IGF-1 did not enhance follicle survival or antrum formation but the percentage of MII oocytes increased modestly (39.1%) than in the control (28.6%, p>0.05, statistically not significant). Conclusion: Seven- to eight-week-old mice showed better outcomes in growth of preantral follicles in vitro than 4- to 5- or 10- to 11-week-old mice. Supplementation of hCG enhanced antrum formation and supplementation of SCF+IGF-1 yielded more mature oocytes; hence, these should be considered in the growth of preantral follicles in vitro.

        띠연신 방법에 의한 초고분자량 폴리에틸렌 겔의 최적 농도 결정 -최적 결정화 온도 결정-

        Ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) gel films with different con centrations of 0.3, 0.5, 0.7 and 1.0 g/d$\ell$ and different gelation/crystallization temperatures. In order to investigate drawing behaviors of UHMWPE gel films were drawn under various zone drawing conditions. Through a series of experiments, it turned out that the initial concentration and gelation/crystallization temperature of PE solution caused significant changes in draw ratio of UHMWPE gel film. That is, the one-step zone draw ratio of the gel film for initial concentration of 0.5 g/d$\ell$ and gelation/crystallization temperature $25^{\circ}C$ was at its maximum and gradually decreased at higher or lower concentration and gelation/crystallization temperature. Moreover this tendency was similar to the maximum draw ratio data. Based on the above results, it may be concluded that the optimum concentration and gelation/crystallization temperature of the initial UHMWPE solution can be determined directly by the zone draw ratio.

        Polymer nanocomposite is considered a great alternative to solve the limitations that exist in a simple combination material, as well as to produce multifunctional and high-performance results. In this research, PVA/bentonite nanocomposite films were prepared based on the presence or absence of modification of nano-clay(bentonite) a SUPERGEL® product, modification conditions and content, and the structural variation of the prepared PVA/bentonite nanocomposite films were examined. The effect of variations in the internal structure of the nanocomposite on mechanical and thermal properties was investigated. As a result of evaluating the thermal characteristics of the PVA/bentonite nanocomposite film based on the concentration of the modified bentonite, it was verified that the thermal characteristics and stability were improved because of interaction between the polymer and the modified nano-clay.

        띠 연신 PET 필름의 구조와 성질 (II)-반복 띠 연신-

        Zone-annealing, stepwise zone-drawing antral high temperature cone-drawing method were adapted for PET samples in order to obtain high modulus and high strength PET aims. The PET samples, drawn by the stepwise zone-drawing method, had the highest tensile modulus of 19 GPa and storage modulus of 4 GPa at 20$0^{\circ}C$. Using high temperature Bone-drawing method, the PET samples with the highest crystallinity were obtained among the three different drawing methods. The effective contribution of crystalline phase to the total birefringence was achieved by the high temperature zone-drawing/zone-annealing method. The stepwise zone-drawing method was most effective to enhance the amorphous chain molecular orientation along the fiber axis.

        Photocatalytic Activity of Electrospun PAN/TiO2 Nanofibers in Dye Photodecomposition

        Poly(acrylonitrile) (PAN) nanofibers containing different amounts of titanium dioxide (TiO2) have been prepared by electrospinning technique. Photocatalytic activity of these electrospun PAN/TiO2 nanofibers and the effect of TiO2 content on the photocatalytic efficiency of PAN/TiO2 nanofibers have been evaluated by monitoring the photodecomposition of fluorescein dye, rhodamine B and methylene blue under UV irradiation with respect to irradiation time. Moreover, the effect of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) on the photocatalytic behavior of PAN/TiO2 nanofibers has also been investigated. The results showed that PAN/TiO2 nanofibers are effective photocatalyst and their photocatalytic efficiency increases with the increase of TiO2 content in the PAN/TiO2 nanofibers. It is also observed that the presence of H2O2 significantly enhances the photocatalytic ability of PAN/TiO2 nanofibers. The morphology and the photocatalytic behavior of the PAN/TiO2 nanofibers containing different amounts of TiO2 nanoparticles have been investigated by field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and UV/Visible spectroscopy, respectively.

        Soluble Human Leukocyte Antigen G Level in Fluid from Single Dominant Follicle and the Association with Oocyte Competence

        Purpose: To investigate the direct relationship between the follicular fluid (FF) level of soluble human leukocyte antigen G (HLA-G) and fertilizability of the corresponding oocyte as well as the morphological quality of the corresponding embryo. Materials and Methods: Sixty-three patients were stimulated with recombinant FSH combined with gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonist long (n=5) or antagonist protocol (n=58) for standard in vitro fertilization (IVF). At the time oocyte retrieval, follicular fluid was obtained from single dominant follicle in 63 patients, and the level of soluble HLA-G was measured by sandwich enzyme-liked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Normal fertilization and individual embryo quality were evaluated, and were graded to four categories by morphological criteria (the embryo with symmetrical blastomeres and no fragmentation were assigned as grade A). Good-quality embryo was defined as those with grade A or B. Results: Soluble HLA-G was not detected in 15 FF samples. In the group with positive FF soluble HLA-G (sHLA-G) (n=48), high levels of sHLA-G (>117.758 U/mL) could predict the failure of fertilization with statistical significance {area under the curve (AUC) 0.676, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.525-0.804}. However, the FF sHLA-G level was not related with the formation of good-quality embryo. Conclusion: High level of FF sHLA-G could predict the fertilization failure of the corresponding oocyte, but was not related with the formation of good-quality embryo.
