This experiment was undertaken to investigate the effects of cation exchange capacity(C.E.C) and particle size of zeolite on the body weight gain, feed efficiency and nutrient utilizability when it was used in broiler rations at level of 3%. In this experiment, 9kinds of zeolite were used which have different level of C.E.C(80, 100, 120meq/100g) and different size of particle(20, 50, 90 mesh). The experiment was conducted from Oct. 21 to Dec. 16, 1977. with a total of 400 broer chicks. The results obtained are summarized as follows ; 1. Body weight gain was increased by supplement of zeolite(p$lt;0.05). Especially in the treatment of 120meq/100g in C.E.C and 50 mesh in particle size of zeolite, the body weight gain was superior to those of all other treatments(p$lt;0.05). 2. there was no significant difference in feed efficiency among treatments. However, slightly more feed was required per kg of body weight gain in all treatments constrained zeolite than in control. 3. The utilizabilities of dry matter, crude protein, crude fat and total carbohydrates of finisher diets were improved by addition of zeolite. Particularly in the crude protein utilizability, remarkable improvement was obtained. 4. Moisture content of poultry manure was slightly decreased by the supplement of zeolite at level of 3% in broiler ration. 5. Crude ash contents of zeolite supplemented feeds were higher than those of control diet and standard level of broiler ration officially fixed by ministry of Agriculture and Fishery.

Twenty-seven lactating Holstein cows being in late lactating period were used to know the nutrient requirement for milk production at hay and corn silage feeding. The experiment was carried out for 80 days at 3 levels (80, 100 and 120%) of CP and TDN, respectively. The results were as follows: 1. Milk production showed increasing trends at higher levels of CP and TDN, but there were no significant differences among treatments. SNF and protein contents of milk increased significantly (p<0.05) with higher levels of TDN. 2. TDN requirement for milk production increased (p<0.05) by raising the level of TDN in the ration but was not affected by the level of crude protein. The crude protein requirement increased (p<0.05) with increasing level of crude protein in the ration. 3. During feeding hay and corn silage as roughage, TDN and CP requirements per FCM ㎏ were 0.326㎏ and 87g, respectively.

Investigations were conducted on the nutritive value of sunflower seed oil meal (unhulled, solvent-extracted; crude protein 31%, crude fiber 21%). Experiment 1 was for sunflower seed oil meal as a replacement for soybean oil meal, and Experiment 2 was for sunflower seed oil meal as a replacement for rapeseed oil meal, perilla oil meal and sesame oil meal. 210 broiler chicks (120 chicks for experiment 1, 90 chicks for experiment. 2) of shaver Starbro line were employed for five weeks in broiler rations. The results obtained in experiment 1 and experiment 2 were as follows; 1. Chemical composition and amino acid content of sunflower seed oil meal was chiefly distinguished by high fiber content and a low lysine, phenylalanine, and tyrosine level in the protein and a moderately high level of methionine in comparison with soybean oil meal. 2. As the amount of sunflower seed oil meal was increased in the ○ progressively poorer growth resulted, especially a complete replacement of soybean oil meal with sunflower seed oil meal markedly decreased growth. But as one-third replacement of soybean oil meal with sunflower sued oil meal was not significantly different in body weight gain, feed consumption, and feed efficiency, sunflower seed oil meal may be used within the level of one-third soybean oil meal or 7.3%. Also the results showed that sunflower seed oil meal may be used as a replacement for rapeseed oil meal, perilla oil meal, and sesame oil meal. 3. The nitrogen-corrected metabolizable energy of sunflower seed oil meal was 2005 ㎉/㎏, when the practical basal diet was substituted by 20% levels of sunflower seed oil meal end it seemed that fiber content of sunflower seed oil meal affected dry matter metabolizability, but its metabolizability was slightly higher than rapeseed oil meal, perilla oil meal, and sesame oil meal except soybean oil meal. The percentage of nitrogen retention of sunflower seed oil meal was higher than any other oil meals. 4. It was found that the weight of thyroid glands was not affected by the increasing level of sunflower seed oil meal, and the weight of thyroid glands of rapeseed oil meal was higher than any other oil meals, while the scores of skin pigmentation were not significantly different among various oil meals.

This experiment was conducted to study the nutritive values of dried hen manure and pig manure in laying hen rations. Wheat bran and corn were partially replaced by the .dried animal wastes mentioned above in the rations of laying hens of Shaver strain and 336 hens were received the experimental diets for 12 weeks. The results obtained are summarized as follows: 1. Feeding dried poultry waste and pig manure upto 15% had no effect on the egg production rate, average daily feed intake and feed efficiency. 2. Inclusion of dried hen manure and pig manure at the level of 10 percent did not influence egg weight. However, inclusion of 15 percent of animal wastes slightly reduced egg weight. 3. There were no significant differences between treatments in the shell thickness and Haugh units. The color of egg yolk was significantly(P$lt;0.05) affected only by the inclusion of 15 percent pig manure in the lay ing rations. 4. Utilizability of dry matter of hens fed 15% pig manure was slightly lower than other groups. Data revealed that utilizability of crude fat was highly improved when animal fat (tallow) was included. Based upon the above results, it may be concluded that the inclusion of dried hen manure and pig manure upto 15% in the rations of layer would have no adverse, effects on the laying performance and the egg qualities.
