        Fluoride (F-), a known stimulator of G-protein, induced strong contraction in rabbit trachealis muscle. $AlCl_3\;(5{\sim}20\;{\mu}M)$, which is required for G-protein stimulation by $F^-$, potentiated the contractile response to $F^-$. $Ca^{2+}-removal$ and verapamil, a calcium channel blocker, inhibited the fluoroaluminate-induced contraction. Fluoroaluminate increased $^{45}Ca$ influx in the absence and presence of verapamil. In heparin-loaded muscle high $K^+-induced$ contraction was not affected, but acetylcholine and fluoroaluminate-induced contractions were inhibited. The fluoroaluminate-induced contraction was partially relaxed by isoproterenol, a stimulator of adenylate cyclase. Pertussis toxin partially inhibited fluoroaluminate-induced contraction and potentiated isoproterenol-induced relaxation in the presence of fluoroaluminate, but had no effect on acetylcholine-induced contraction and the isoproterenol-induced relaxation in the presence of acetylcholine. These results suggest that fluoroaluminate has the ability to stimulate at least two putative G-proteins in rabbit trachealis muscle; One causes $Ca^{2+}$ influx through the potential-operated $Ca^{2+}$ channel and the other induces intracellular $Ca^{2+}$ release by the increase of inositol-1, 4, 5-triphosphate.

      • Effect of Vanadate on PAH Transport and Na-K-ATPase Activity in Rabbit Renal Cortex

        Vanadate가 가토 신피질절편에서 PAH이동과 Na-K-ATPase활성에 미치는 효과를 관찰한 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1) Vanadate는 Na-K-ATPase활성을 농도에 따라 억제하였으며 $7.94{\times}10^{-7}M$에서 이 효소의 활성이 50% 억제되었다. 2) Vanadate는 PAH의 능동적이동을 농도에 따라 억제하였으며 50%억제농도는 대략 $10^{-4}M$ 이었고, 수동적이동에는 영향을 미치지 못하였다. 조직내 Na과 K의 양도 vanadate가 PAH이동을 억제하는 농도 범위에서 같이 변화하였고 산소소모량은 $10^{-4}M$까지는 약간 감소하였으나 $10^{-3}M$에서는 오히려 증가하였다. 3) 30분간 preincubation한 후에도 15분까지의 PAH이동은 30분 이후에 비해 vanadate에 의해 적게 억제되었다. 4) $10^{-4}M$ vanadate와 $10^{-4}M$ ouabain은 가역적으로 PAH 이동을 억제하였으며 $10^{-3}M$ vanadate는 비가역적으로 억제하였고 장시간 세척후에도 거의 같은 정도의 억제양상을 나타내었다. 5) Vanadate에 의한 PAH이동의 억제정도는 incubation용액내 $Na^+$의 감소, $K^+$의 증가에 의하여 증가하였고 $Ca^{2+}$의 농도 변화에 의해서는 영향을 받지 않았다. 6) Vanadate가 존재치 않을 때 Tris완충용액 사용시는 pH 8.2까지 PAH축적정도가 증가하였고 phosphate완충용액 사용시는 pH 7.4에서 최대축적치를 보였다. pH가 증가함에 따라 억제정도는 증가하였으며 같은 pH에서도 완충용액의 종류에 따라 vanadate에 의한 억제정도가 달랐다. 7) Vanadate와 ouabain은 PAH이등과 Na-K-ATPase활성에 부가적 억제작용을 나타내었다. 이상의 결과로 vanadate는 가토신장의 세포내부에서 Na-K-ATPase를 가역적으로 억제함으로써 PAH의 이동을 억제하는 것으로 생각되며 PAH의 이동은 Na-K-ATPase활성과 기능적으로 밀접히 연결되어 있는 것으로 생각된다.

        한ㆍ미 FTA와 한국의 FDI 유치전략

        As the Doha Round of trade talks has not shown any significant progress, the importance of Free Trade Agreement (FTA) as a means of internationalization has increased. In this new business environment, scholars, businessmen, and government officials have been interested in FTA, foreign direct investment (FDI), and national competitiveness. There exist many studies on Korea-U.S. FTA, but most of these studies consider only a part of explanatory variables and fail to look at the entire picture of this important event. In order to solve this limitation, this study introduces a new analytical tool by integrating the diamond model of competitiveness and the imbalance theory of FDI. This paper also analyzes the impacts of inward FDI on host countries. Finally, this paper provides specific policy implications for enhancing national competitiveness by increasing inward FDI.

        The world economy has yet to bounce back since the financial crisis in 1998. Korean economy has also showed constant domestic economic downturn, while facing the crisis perpetuating low growth in long-term due to export-oriented industrial structure and the polarization between large firms and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). In this context, the cultivation of mid-sized enterprises (MSEs) having innovation capabilities and growth potential in the global market can be the one way for economic recovery, job creation and sustainable growth. Korean government has announced a series of laws and financial measures supporting MSEs which are regarded as the key player in economic growth. Starting from “Construction of MSEs Grow Ladder” formulated in September 2013, the government has announced “Special Act on the Promotion and MSEs Growth and Competitiveness’, “World-Class 300 Training Measures”, “Korean-typed Hidden Champion Promotion Measures” and “Prestigious Long-Lived Company Promotion Measures” in 2014. This study investigated public policies and several measures supporting MSEs based on concept of the ladder SMEs→MSEs→large enterprises. Using Michael Porter’s Diamond Model, this study provides the four important implications regarding MSEs activation and competitiveness. First, since CEO’s leadership, capital and R&D sectors are the core factor conditions for MSEs’ competitiveness, it is necessary for the proper execution that meets the internal and external environments. Second, market expansion is the core demand condition for the competitiveness. Hence, the government should establish political and financial measures inducing market exploitation on the one hand, and MSE’s should set up right strategies for market exploitation and secure an outstanding workforce on the other hand. Third, the government should systemize business growth through the ladder model and promote cooperation among SMEs and MSEs, while continuously reviewing and supplementing the existing laws and regulations for MSEs through coordinating between governmental departments and business sectors. Fourth, the government should construct the network and cluster for the promotion of MSEs through the coordination among the agencies concerned. Especially, SMEs Administration, Association of Medium-sized Businesses and Korea Industrial Technology Association (KIAT) should clarify the subject of aspects such as support for the growth of MSEs, and try to create synergy effect by facilitating active cooperation among university and industry.

        외국인직접투자에서 자원, 리더십, 프로세스, 그리고 성과 간의 관계: 중국의 투자촉진기구를 중심으로

        This paper examines how a host government`s investment promotion agency (IPA) can influence inward foreign direct investment (IFDI) performance. Existing studies have found evidence in positive relationships between the characteristics of leaders, resources of IPAs, and IFDI performance. This paper aims to answer the questions of how and what types of factors in IPA can influence the performance of IFDI. Though resources and characteristics of leaders are important factors of IPA, this paper also argues the importance of “process” of IPA on IFDI performance. Thus, this paper suggests that any country or city, which hopes to promote IFDI, should try to focus on the processes of their IPAs. The empirical results, which analyzed one hundred and six cities in China, showed that not only the characteristics of leaders and levels of resources but also the processes of IPA strongly influenced IFDI performance. Results showed the moderating effects of “evaluation processes” on the relationship between the antecedents (e.g., resource and leader) and IFDI performance.

        새로운 성장동력 메커니즘을 통한 무역활성화 전략에 관한 연구

        In this respect, we tried to suggest a new growth-engine mechanism for sustainable growth of Korean trade in the upcoming decade. Future economic growth of Korea should be based on a ‘cooperative business eco-system’ by using constructive competition and ‘new shifts of paradigm(or new growth-engine mechanism)’. Established trade policies today, legislated concerning simply small manufacturing industry and leading conglomerates, cannot lead to successful trade performance in the future. New growth-engine mechanism is made up 1) the change of main agent in economic governance(government → various stakeholders), 2) diversification of the sources in trade competitiveness(economies of scale/scope → economies of learning/clustering), 3) the change of market(United states, China, and Japan → emerging market), 4) the change of industry(manufacturing industry → service industry and convergence industry), and 5) the change of trade targets(product → production factors). This paper also proposes a new dynamic globalization model and more specific activating trade strategy(e.g., building a service cluster) in service industry.

        한국자동차 산업의 신흥시장 진출전략

        This study investigated the globalization of automobile industry and FDI in international dimension by developing locational competitiveness model for determining promising emerging markets. Based on the locational competitiveness model, we created a new global competitiveness index of automobile industry to estimate the attractiveness. The cluster analysis was performed to investigate the country-specific characteristics. The results showed that China and Russia were the promising countries in terms of factor conditions, whereas Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand, etc. were attractive investment destinations among emerging countries from a government point of view. We also investigated the relationship between locational and national competitiveness and found some differences between locational and national competitiveness models. Finally, we suggested useful strategies and related implications to go into emerging market.
