The purpose of this study was to examine how the characteristics of grain size distribution affect the characteristics of compaction The grain size distribution test and the compact test were performed on 91 samples taken from the Busan-Gyungnam district. The equation between the percent of weight per grain and the maximum dry unit weight has been drawn out on the basis of the regression analysis of the outcome of these two tests

This Paper studied the effects of inclination of piles on pile behaviors. The following are the conclusions of this study. (1) When all the piles are inclined to a same direction, the piles reaction, maximum moment and horizontal displacement of footing increase as the angle of inclination increases. (2) when the piles of each opposite side are inclined symmetrically, the vertical reaction either increases or decreases in proportion to the angle of inclination. In this case, the vertical reaction of inclined piles decreases but the vertical reaction of non-inclined piles increase.

This study analyzed lateral movement of soft ground improved by S.C.P, with fill loading on it. We observed the horizontal displacement of the ground with replacement rate, range and depth as variables, after modeling the S.C.P-improved ground by means of composite ground and sand piles. The results are shown in the following. i) The horizontal displacement decreased as the replacement rate, range and depth increased. ii) When the replacement depth is constant, a raise in replacement rate rather than in replacement range resulted in notable improvement. iii) Less horizontal displacement occurred in the case of modeling the S.C.P-improved ground by means of composite ground han that of sand piles.

This study investigated the settlement of soft ground caused by fill-loading. The S.C.P replacement ratio(a_(s)), range(S_(0)/B), and depth(h_(0)/H) were taken as variables. The conclusions are presented in the following. (1) As a_(s), S_(0)/B, and h_(0)/H increases, the maximum settlement decreases. However, the maximum settlement is less in S_(0)/B than in as, and h_(0)/H. (2) Changes in the maximum settlement are relatively great in the range of h_(0)/H = 0.2~0.6, but small in the case of h_(0)/H>0.6. (3) The reducing rate becomes different when a_(s) = 30%, and S_(0)/B = 0.6. (4) When a_(s) = 10%, the maximum settlement due to the increase in replacement depth reduces little relatively to other replacement ratios.

The purpose of this study is to make the most of a data for solving the environmental pollution and the waste of resource caused by municipal solid wastes-one of problems that break out in high-crowded city center. The outline of a conclusion is following as : First. The amount of the office-building municipal solid wastes in city is about 0.2∼0.5(㎏/person·day). Compared to the residential area, the office-building area shows low-level. Second. In the discharge properties of municipal solid wastes, an inflammable municipal solid wastes are over 85~. I suggest that we should make a policy for slowing this problem. Third. The factors that effect the amount of the municipal solid wastes are the type of work, the size of building, the number of worker and so on. Especilly the main factor is the type of work.

광선의 포락선인 초면(caustic)에 관한 연구는 17세기 호이겐스 등의 기하적 광학 연구에서 시작되었다. 17세기에 광학에서 가장 중요한 문제의 하나가 태양 광선을 초점에 모으는 것이었고, 이는 당시의 여러 실용적인 광학기구 제작을 위하여 해결해야 하는 문제였다. 이 시기 초면에 대한 연구로부터 시작하여 19세기까지 포락선에 대한 개념이 일반화되고 다양한 분야로 확장되었다. 본 논문에서는 포락선 곡선 연구에 관련된 수학적 역사를 살펴보고 포락선을 정의하는 몇 가지 방법을 비교하여 그에 따라 포락선을 구하는 예을 제시한다. Research on the caustic, the envelope of light rays, began with the geometric optics studies of Huygens and others in the 17th century. One of the most important problems in optics in the 17th century was focusing the sun's rays. This was a problem that had to be solved in order to manufacture various practical optical instruments at the time. Beginning with research on the caustic during this period, the concept of envelope became generalized and expanded to various fields until the 19th century. This paper examines the mathematical history involved in the study of envelope curves. We compare several methods of defining the envelope and provide an example of calculating the envelope accordingly.
