Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease of the airways, characterized by airway eosinophilia, goblet cell hyperplasia with mucus hypersecretion, and hyper-responsiveness to both inhaled allergens and nonspecific stimuli. Eosinophil are important in the pathogenesis of asthma, with release of inflammatory mediators such as histamine, leukotrienes, cytokines, and IgE after exposure to allergen. Objectives : This research investigates the effect of the extract of Duchesnea chrysanta (EDC) on OVA-indued asthma murine model. Methods : After i.p of C57BL/6 mice, OVA sensitization (day 0) were challenged intratracheally with OVA on days 8 and 21. EDC administered weeks 8, blocked the airway inflammatory response to OVA assessed 24 h after the last OVA challenge on day 22. Results : The CC chemokine receptor 3 (CCR3) is expressed by eosinophils, mast cells, and Th2 cells. The role of CCR3 in a murine model of allergic skin inflammation induced by repeated epicutaneous sensitization with ovalbumin (OVA), and characterized by eosinophil skin infiltration, local expression of Th2 cytokines, and airway hyperresponsiveness (AHR) to inhaled antigen. The administration of EDC during OVA inhalation significantly reduced CCR3 plays an essential role in eosinophil recruitment to the skin and the lung and in the development of AHR.. EDC extract reduced total lung cells and eosinophils in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid, airway tissue eosinophilia, goblet cell hyperplasia, mucus secretion, and peribronchial edema. The inhibitory effect on airway eosinophilia and AHR was associated with reduced levels of IL-4, IL-5, and IL-13 in the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid as well as reduced serum levels of OVA-IgE. We show that OVA inhalation following OVA immunization increased airway responsiveness to induced IL-113, IL-4 and IL-5 mRNA expression in the lung tissue. The administration of EDC during OVA inhalation significantly reduced this increased airway hyperresponsiveness and also inhibited airway inflammation. Conclusions : These results support EDC as a therapeutic target in asthma and indicate that selective EDC inhibitors can reduce allergic airway inflammation.

In order to investigate the reinforcemental Effects of Acanthopanax Radicis Cortex about immunity and hematogenic action. The various immune responses were studied. The results were obtained as follows: 1. Positive cell was significantly increased at the 0.25 d r n P degree of density in the effect of CD4 about the spleen cell. 2. In the effect of IgG positive cell was significantly increased as comrared with the data of control only at the 0.25 mg/ml degree of density. 3. In the effect of Mac-1 positive cell was significantly increased in all treated degree of density. 4. In result of observing the change of WBC after Cyclophosphamide-processing the number of WBC was significantly increased in treated Group. 5. Measurement of RT-PCR in Hematopoietic stem cell TPO PCR products was increased as compared with medium at the 1 ㎛/ml degree of density. 6. In reinforcemental effect about Stem cell factor SCF PCR product was increased as compared with medium at the low degree of density. 7. In reinforcemental effect about IL-3 PCR product was increased as compared with medium at the low degree of density. 8. In reinforcemental effect about IL-6 PCR product was significantly increased as compared with all treated group. 9. Assay about positive cell in the spleen cell, the positive cell was significantly increased in CD4, CD19. 10. Created amount NO was treated group significantly increased all degree of density. 11. In promotional dissolution-effect, treated group was increased one and half times or twice all degree of density as compared with negative control. According to the above results, Acanthopanax Radicis Cortex increase coherence with T-cell by dint of activating CD of T-cell, presentate an antigen, activate IL-3, IL-6 which stimulate B-cell mading an antibody, activate IFN- y which appeal anti-viral activity by dint of activating macrophage, activate IgG which being made in B-cell neutralize Virus directly, increase immunity by means of promoting dissolution of Spleen cell which involve immune cell and strengthen hematogenic action by dint of activating TPO, SCF. Although Acanthopanax Radicis Cortex was used in retrogressional joint disease of deficiency syndrome by reinforcing Liver and Kidney, strengthening bones and sinews, because IFN- 7 which appeal anti-viral activity and IL-6 which almost appear in arthritis increased significantly, in future we should make an effort in looking into action of Acanthopanax Radicis Cortex about common cold by infection and arthritis of excess syndrome.

For the purpose of devising exact clinical application throughout correct understanding of Chinese Caterpillar Fungus, as a result of considering several literatures about the authority, name. origin of Chinese Caterpillar Fungus, and discrimination among apurious articles, we can reach a conclusion as follows: 1. We knew that the first recording of Chinese Caterpillar Fungus is "WorlWangYakJin"(月王藥診) in the eighth century and the book of medicinal herbs which is the authority of Chinese Caterpillar Fungus is "BonCaoBiYao"(本草備要). 2. The name of Dongchonghacao was named after its living conditions that its fungus is parasitic in the interior of bug during the winter and make up a sporophore like a herbage in the next summer, and The name of Dongchonghacao in the medical herbs have been used by "Dongchonghacao", "Hacaodongchong", "Dongchongcao", and that in the prescription by "Dongchonghacao", "Dongchongcao", "Chongcao", and that in the nickname "Chongcao", "Dongchongcao:. "Hacaodongchong". 3. Dongchonghacao is the stroma and sporophore of Cordyceps sinensis(Berk) Sacc. parasitized on the larva of Hepialus armoricamus Oberthur. both stroma and the dead larva are used. 4. As spurious articles, there are several articles which are Cordyceps militaris (L.) Link, Cordyceps hawkesii Gray, He pialus sp. Hunau, Cordyceps liangshanensis Tang Lin et Hu SP. nov., Cordyceps ramosa Teng, Cordyceps barnesii Thwaiters in fungus, and there are Lycopus lucidus Tutcz, stachy sieboldii Miq. Stachys geobombycis C. Y. Wu in herbage and there is artificial spurious article which is made of wheat flour, corn flour, soybean flour and gyps through compression. 5. In the discrimination among the spurious articles, existence or nonexistence of stroma and sporophore is the most important aspect and characteristics of stroma and sporophore which are the shape, color, length, diameter and round pattern can be standards of discrimination, but it can be discriminated only by the shell of seed bag and the ascosphore in the stroma and sporophore.
