Purpose: Tacrolimus (FK506) has been widely used as an immunosuppressant in organ transplanted recipients to suppress organ rejection phenomenon. We investigated the role of oxidative stress and heme oxygense-1 by FK506 on human Jurkat T cells. Methods: The cells viability was examined by DAPI stain, enzyme activity of caspase family proteins, and western blotting for Baks, PUMA, iNOS, HO-1. Cells were cultured in the absence or presence of CoPPIX or ZnPPIX and the fluorescence intensity was analyzed using a flow cytometry. Results: Treatment with FK506 increased the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS), including hydrogen peroxide and superoxide anion, and NO in Jurkat cells in a dose-dependent manner. Immunohistochemistry and Western blot analysis data revealed the hemoxygenase-1 (HO-1) was induced by the addition of FK506 in Jurkat cells. Induction of CoPP, HO-1 inducer, resulted in decreased intracellular H₂O₂ and NO concentrations. Instead ZnPP, an HO-1 competitive inhibitor did it reversely. In addition, ZnPP regulates iNOS protein synthesis by inhibition of HO-1. Conclusion: Increase of HO-1 expression would induce to decrease the intracellular H₂O₂ and NO concentrations. Also, HO-1 would regulate iNOS protein synthesis. Consequently, we can expect the regulation of HO-1 expression with concomitants use of FK506 to suppress organ rejection phenomenon by enhancing apoptosis.

BOM(Bill of Materials) is a listing or description of raw materials, parts, and assemblies that define a product. In order to evaluate the performance of proposed BOM management system, which is very important to maintenance information system of urban transit. We develop component based BOM data and rule-set to design data structure that is mutually independent and integrated efficiently. It divides data whit management interface using component technology. The component based master BOM have advantage in database size and flexibility. Flexibility is measured as the number of updating records in accordance with added new product or engineering change. In database size, component based BOM is the best. we develop master BOM management system in web environment.

Recently, various daylighting systems have been developed and applied to buildings. However, existing daylighting systems are of no practical use due to a high initial cost and difficulties in maintenance. In addition, there is a main problem of securing sufficient additional space for collecting daylight and to be available in the overcast sky. Wall-type daylight system, which is the subject of this study and doesn't need additional space for collecting daylight, is a very useful day lighting system, because it can substitute for a vertical wall of a building. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the day lighting performance of Wall-type Daylight Collecting system using two mock-up models. The performance of the general windows were compared with that of Wall-type Daylight Collecting systems placed on the windows in terms of illuminance distribution on the work plane at the height of 75cm and luminance distribution on the south wall.
지리학 용어로서의‘地方’에 관한 역사적 고찰 - 官撰年代記와 초기 지리교과서를 중심으로 -

본 연구는‘地域’이라는 현대지리학용어가 도입되기 이전에 국내에서 동일한 의미로 사용된 용어를‘지방’이라는 코드명을 통해 고찰한 것이다. 지역의 개념으로 사용된 용어를 삼국사기 단계에서 1956년까지의 각종 문헌을 통하여 분석해 보고, 그 용어들이 과거에는 어떻게 표현되었으며, 근대지리학이 도입되면서 어떻게 바뀌었는지 살펴보았다. 그 결과 과거 우리나라에서는 外, 方, 外方, 地, 地面등이 지역과 지방의 개념으로 사용되었음이 밝혀졌다. 이러한 용어들은‘지방’이 내포하고 있는 여러 가지 의미에 따라 다르게 표현되었으며, 또한 시대에 따라 상이하게 사용되었다. 그리고 현대지리학적 개념의 지방과 지역은 근대지리학이 도입되면서 사용되었다는 것을 확인하였다. 지리학용어에 대한 이러한 구체적인 연구결과는 지리학 기초용어의 오용과 남용을 줄이고, 지리학 발전의 토대를 마련하는데 이바지 할 것으로 기대된다. This study tries to identify the terms which shared the same meaning with a present-day geographical concept region, or jibang(地方) in Korean, prior to the initiation of modern geography. The<br/> analysis of the annals of the pre-modern political regimes and the earliest geography textbooks ends up with the terms oe(外), bang(方), oebang(外方), j i(地), and jimyon(地面). These terminologies, although having had almost similar meanings that region intends, nonetheless deliver somewhat different connotation depending on the<br/> context and times in and during which they were used. Another finding of significance is that region and jibang, both central words in contemporary geography, began to be used only after the introduction, by way of Japan, of modern geography in the early 20th century. The colonial experience and subsequent political and social turmoil, however, results in careless uses of the terms in geography teaching and research. Efforts need to be continued to address the problems of misuse of these basic terms and, by doing so, to raise geographical pursuits on a right track.

Sigmoid volvulus is uncommon in children. Chronic constipation rarely leads to sigmoid volvulus. We report the experience of a case of sigmoid volvulus led by chronic constipation in a child. An 11-year-old girl complained abdominal pain and constipation, which had continued for previous 3 years. Under the impression of sigmoid volvulus by simple abdominal x-ray and abdominal computed tomography, emergency colonoscopic reduction of the volvulus tried to fail to the emergency segmental resection of the twisted sigmoid colon. After 3 months of operation, her constipation improved gradually with no other untoward symptoms so far.
Mycophenolic Acid에 의해 유도된 Jurkat 세포주 세포자멸사에서 Heme Oxygenase-1의 발현이 미치는 영향

Purpose: This study demonstrates that pharmacologic induction of heme oygenase-1 (HO-1) along with catalytic activation significantly modulated apoptosis of Jurkat cells induced by mycophenolic acid (MPA). Methods: Cells were cultured with the presence or absence of MPA. Flow cytometric analysis was performed after propidium iodide staining. Western blotting of HO-1, Bcl, and Bax was also performed. Cells were stained 4’-6-Diamidino-2-phenylindole (DAPI) and measured by flow cytometry in the absence or presence of CoPPIX. Results: Treatment of MPA decreased cell viability in a dose- and time-dependent manner. MPA-induced cell death was confirmed as apoptosis characterized by sub G0/G1 phase arrest. Expression of HO-1 assumes a pattern of decline after rising at the initial phase. CoPPIX, HO-1 inducer, significantly inhibited the cisplatin-induced apoptosis. Treatment of MPA resulted in reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation in Jurkat cells. CoPPIX attenuated ROS production in MPA-treated cells. Conclusion: This result suggests that the protective mechanism of HO-1 on MPA-induced cytotoxicity is associated with direct inhibition of ROS generation and mitochondrial permeability transition.
