The colors of paintings from Goryeo Buddhist paintings to the mid-Joseon Dynasty maintained the same tone, but changes can be seen from the late Joseon Dynasty, which was also the time when the use of imported color pigments began. The change in color began with the discovery of synthetic inorganic and organic pigments in the West in the 19th century. CIELAB L*, C*ab, and hab were analyzed by measuring digital data from Goryeo Buddhist paintings and mid-Joseon Dynasty court paintings that used the same traditional pigments, and court paintings from the late Joseon Dynasty that used imported red, green, and blue pigments. After the transformation of the pigments, the red color and green color changed to clean and bright, blue color to deep and strong, and the color angle of blue also changed. Although it is an analysis of a digitized work, it is not much different from the actual pigment measurements, so it is enough to see changes in color. The colors of traditional pigments are medium lightness and medium chroma, and the colors of synthetic inorganic and organic pigments are low/medium lightness and high chroma. Pigment development has shifted toward increasing chroma. The red, green, and blue colors of 19th century court decorative paintings and record paintings are more brighter and more colorful than those of paintings before the 19th century.

To aim at advancing the Korea’s insurance industry, new regulations such as business expense disclosure, RBC solvency, and allowance for sales of bancassurance have been introduced in the 2000s. In this regard, this study empirically analyzes whether the value of insurance companies reflects KOSPI, characteristics of insurance product portfolios, proportion of bancassurance sales, representative management effectiveness indices such as loss ratio, expense ratio, surrender value ratio, and risk-based capital ratio. For casualty insurance companies listed on the Korea stock market, we develop a regression model based on Ohlson model, and our new model includes additional explanatory variables reflecting characteristics of insurance companies. We subdivided the model into two regression models, which are a level-based model generalized from the Ohlson model, and a logistic incremental model. The analysis shows that the new model accounts for the value of insurance companies better than the Ohlson model that has only summarized accounting information. In the level-based model, the value-relevant explanatory variables amongst which are additionally included in the model are KOSPI, surrender value ratio, proportion of bancassurance sales, proportion of long-term insurance sales, and loss ratio in the decreasing order of relevance. Similarly, in the logistic incremental model, proportion of long-term insurance sales, surrender value ratio, and loss ratio have showed significant explanatory power.
