This paper presents a transient heat transfer analysis of a drum brake shape. The transient heat transfer analysis of automotive drum brakes with frictional contact is performed by using the finite element method. The drum brake type studied in the page is the internally expanding one in which two shoes fitted externally with frictional material are forced outward against surface a rotating drum on the wheel unit. In this case, the Braking power is produced by the friction force between a drum and a lining, and is converted into heat. The brake drum has constant material properties. The air inside the drum has temperature-dependent thermal conductivity and enthalpy. Radiation effects are ignored. The result explains the reason why hair crack and cause of drum failure occur. The temperature of drum is in proportion to the drum thickness and nonlinear changes at every points of drum. It's necessary for the decrease of the drum temperature to make the air inside drum flow.

In this study, the heat transfer coefficient and the flow characteristics according to the shape of pipe interior in automobile radiator is studied by a numerical method using STAR-CD and Iron-CAD, a commercial code based on finite volume method. A number of blocks is installed in the pipe interior and 1:1 mixture of ethylene glycol and water is used as cooling water. Then, the flow characteristics is investigated. Other researchers have interested in the experiments to increase the heat transfer effect by installing fins outside of radiator flat tube. However, this study shows that the area of accumulation or recirculation phenomenon due to increase or decrease of flow area is decreased by a number of blocks that increase the strength of flow. Also, it is known that the heat transfer effect has a very good relationship with automobile engine room and engine oil cooling.

The purpose of this study is to survey how the Japanese writer Murakami Haruki has been accepted in Korea, especially putting emphasis on its process and social context. From 1988 to 2006, 77 volumes of Haruki’s works were translated into Korean, and 19 Master"s theses and 13 articles were written. And recently two large International conferences were held. In 1989, Murakami Haruki"s famous work, Norwegian Wood, was translated into Korean. The first responses were that the novel was “cool”. The characters’ style of “Internalized America” attracted Korean readers’ attention a lot. There have been debates about the Haruki novel’s popularity among Korean literary critics. But the critical concern didn’t spread widly. I think Haruki’s novels, at least in Korea, have been read by readers who dreamed of affluent and exotic lives. But now in Korea the result of democratic movement has been disappearing, and young people live hopeless lives in the face of new liberalism. I wonder if Haruki’s novels could keep enjoying popularity in this condition.
