        자외선-B 조사에 의한 창상 치유지연 마우스 피부의 collagen양 변화

        The change of collagen content was studied in normal or immunosuppressed mice skin during wound healing. The mice were irradiated by ultraviolet B(UVB, 15KJ/m2/mouse) for the suppression of cell mediated immunity. After immunsupression, full thickness wounds were made by 5mm paper puncher on the back of the mice. Wound size, hydroxyproline content, and microscopic changes were examined in both normal and UVB-radiated mice on days of 0, 1, 3, 6, 10, 15 and 21. The results were as follows: 1. Wound healing was complete after the 15th day in normal mice, and 21th day in the UVB-radiated mice, grossly. 2. The collagen content was higher in the back skin than in the abdominal skin. The collagen content in both abdominal and back skin was decreased in the UVB-radiated group compared to the control group. 3. In the normal mice, the hydroxyproline content was decreased on day 1, recovered to normal value by day 3, and slightly decreased on day 6. The hydroxyproline content was increased on day 10 and reached to normal value in day 21. The net content of hydroxyproline was markedly decreased in the UVB-radiated group compared to the control group during wound healing. The change in hydroxyproline content was delayed compared to the control group. Above results indicate that the delaying effects of the UVB radiation on wound healing are related to the decrease in collagen content in the skin.

        전두동 골절 환자의 치료

        Frontal sinus fractures are relatively uncommon problem in the craniomaxillofacial trauma and the best method of treatment is controversial. In order to better understand this type of fracture and its treatment, we reviewed herein our experience of 22 cases of frontal sinus fracture between the years of 1991 and 1993. Conservative treatment and surgical therapy, which is dependent on the type of frontal sinus fracture, cerebrospinal fluid leakage and the involvement of nasofrontal duct, is performed by reduction with sinus preservation, sinus intubation, sinus obliteration and cranialization. In this article we present clinical case of the frontal sinus fracture from a review of the literature and from our own experience.

        Triamcinolone acetonide와 colchicine이 Balb/C 3T3 섬유모세포에 미치는 영향

        Several forms of treatment have been utilized for keloids and hypertrophic scars with varying degrees of success. Intralesional steroid injection, pharmacologic treatment, has been used most commonly and proved its efficacy in experimental and clinical. In colchicine, there are no animal and human data to substantiate the efficacy of systemic colchicine in the treatment of keloid. To investigate the effect of triamcinolone and colchicine, cultured Balb/C 3T3 fibroblasts in the media containing various of triamcinolone and colchicine were assayed by colometric screenings of tetrazolium MTT assay. The results obtained were as follows. 1. Triamcinolone and colchicine induced the dose dependent decrease of the activity of mitochondrial succinic dehydrogenase. 2. Inhibiting effect of colchicine were 10 times higher than those of triamcinolone at the same dose. 3. The combined triamcinolone with colchicine of treated groups showed higher inhibiting effect than the triamcinolone or colchicine of treated group.

        5-Fluorouracil이 백서의 섬유모세포에 미치는 세포 독성에 관한 연구

        Present study was carried out to investigate the cytotoxicity of 5-Fluorouracil(5-FU) on cultured rat fibroblasts. The colorimetric assay of neutral red(NR) and tetrazolium MTT, the measurement of the rate of DNA synthesis and sister chromatid exchange(SCE) analysis were performed on the fibroblasts cultured in the media containing various concentrations of 5-FU. The obtained results are as follows: 1. The NR and MTT values were increased dose-dependently. 2. The NR90, NR50, MTT90, and MTT50 values of 5-FU were 5ug/ml, 35ug/ml, 7ug/ml and 47ug/ml, respectively. 3. The rate of DNA synthesis at concentrations of 5-FU, 5×10??ug/ml, 5×10??ug/ml, 10ug/ml and 35ug/ml values were 90%, 50%, 20% and 10%, respectively. 4. The frequency of sister chromatid exchange increased by 2 times at concentration, 10ug/ml of 5-FU. 5. 5-FU showed the toxic effect in the orders of DNA, lysosome, mitochondria. 6. 5-FU did not show drug-specific morphological changes in fibroblasts. From above the results, it suggests that 5-FU induced the DNA damage and chromosome damage at below concentrations which dose not affect lysosomal function and mitochondrial enzyme activity.

        구순부에 발생한 상피세포암의 치료

        The lip cancers are the most common form of oral squamous cell cancer. The aesthetic and functional restoration was required after wide excision of the lip cancers. Many procedures have been described to reconstruction of the upper and lower lip defects. Over the past 7 years we have used various local flap techniques for reconstruction of 12 cases after resection of the squamous cell cancer. We select the techniques for reconstruction of the ablative lip defect by it's size and location. It is desirable that if metastasis to the neck was suspected, regional lymph node biopsy should be performed before radical neck dissection.

        국소 전기자극이 백서의 임의형 피부판 생존에 미치는 영향

        Many experimental studies have demonstrated beneficial effect of electrical field application to various hard and soft tissues. The present study was undertaken to determine if application if application of exogenous electric fields could improve survival rate of random pattern skin flap in rats. 32 Spraque-Dawley rats were divided into 4 groups and caudally based random pattern flaps of 2x8cm in size were elevated in all experimental animals. Silver electrodes were implanted into the fascia to apply the electrical stimulation(-5V, 0.2ms, 20hz) to the skin flap. Electrical stimulation was applied 3 times for 1 hour daily and it was continued to the 5th day. It is concluded that exogenous electrical stimulation shows a possibility of the enhancement of flap survival rates by increasing the rates to 3.2%(P<0.01).

        연속 Z-성형술을 이용한 대구증의 교정

        Macrostomia or transverse facial cleft is an uncommon congenital deformity presenting only once in every 100 to 300 facial clefts seen. And one of ten macrostomia is bilateral type. It is developed as a results of failure of mesodermal migration or merging of maxillary and mandibular process in the stage of 8the to 12th week of embryonic life. It may occur alone or in combination with other syndromes. Authors present 7 cases of macrostomia. Each of our patients was treated by multiple Z-plasty technique and those results were satisfactory funtionally and esthetically.

        백서 성체 창상에서 antisense TGF-β₁oligodepxynucleotides가 TGF-β₁의 유전자 발현과 교원질 합성에 미치는 영향

        Adult wounds heal with scar formation, whereas fetal wounds heal without scarring and with a lesser inflammatory and cytokine response. Resently transforming growth factor (TGF) -βis known to play an important role in scar formation following tissue injury. Therefore we suggest that antisense TGF-β₁oligodeoxynucleotides (ODNs) complementary to TGF-β₁mRNA might decrease expression of TGF-β₁gene in dermal wound of the mouse. To evaluate this concept, we tested the effects of antisense ODNs targeted to TFG-β₁mRNA by topical application of the chemical on the skin wound. Phosphorothioate antisense ODNs were employed to retard their degradation. Northern blot analysis of on set of animals showed that the wounded skin treated with antisense ODNs exhibited no detectable levels of TFG-β₁mRNA, whereas the wounded skin treated with sense TGF-β₁ODNs expressed significant amounts of TGF-β₁ODNs treated wound tissue contained much less collagen than did the control wounds. In conclusion, our results indicate that antsense TGF-β₁ODNs could be used for ameliorating scar formation during wound healing.

        투시영상기 조영하에서 외부 강선견인술을 이용한 관골궁 골절의 비관혈적 정복술

        Recently, facial traumas are increasing due to expansion of motor vehicles and complexity of social life pattern. The zygoma bone is a prominent part of the midface and prone to be traumatized. Numerous approaches for reduction and fixation of zygomatic fractures have been described. Each reduction method has its advantages and disadvantages. The authors employed the extemal wire traction with fluoroscopy in cases of non-comminuted zygomaticarch fracture. The advantages of this method are a more accurate reduction under direct vision and takes a very short time. This procedure also can reduce the pain and edema after postoperation and possible under local anesthesia. With such method, we obtained satisfactory results cosmetically and functionally.

        좌골신경손상 흰쥐의 가자미근과 내측비복근 위축에 대한 전기자극 효과

        This experimental study includes the effect of intermittent electrical stimulation of the muscle on the atrophic response of peripherally denervated muscles. Rats(Sprague -Dawley, 240-260gm) were subjected to a severance of the sciatic nerve and mechanical properties of contraction including contraction time, half relaxation time and maximum twitch tension, maximum tetanic tension and fatigue index were observed on the slow(soleus m.) and fast(medial gastrocnemius m.) muscles 10days after serverance of the sciatic nerve. Experimental groups were divided into three groups : control group(CONT) immediately after severance of sciatic nerve, denervation group(DN) 10days after severance of sciatic nerve, and denervation plus eletrical stimulation group : (DN-ES) denervation combined with intermittent eletrical stimulation of muscles directly. Optimal frequency of electrical stimulation was 20㎐ for soleus muscle and 40㎐ for medial gastrocnemius muscle under 0.5ms of pulse width and supramaximal intensity. In DN group, muscle weight and mechanincal properties of contraction were significantly decreased compared with the control group. In DN-ES group, however, muscle weight and mechanincal properties were significantly increased compared with the denervation group. These data indicate that intermittent electrical stimulation of muscles may be useful in decreasing the muscle atrophy in peripherally denervated muscles.
