        생태학 NetLogo 실습 프로그램 개발을 위해 예비 생물교사들이 겪은 어려움 및 개선점 탐색

        This research addresses the need to integrate NetLogo, a computer modeling tool, into disciplinary domains, specifically in science class, to support Model-Based Inquiry (MBI) activities. The research originated from the recognition of the scarcity of educational programs aimed at developing the expertise of pre-service teachers for using NetLogo in MBI. A practical program was created with the objective to enhance pre-service biology teachers' understanding of ecology and improve their teaching skills for model-based inquiry in science classrooms through the use of NetLogo in ecology courses. The program was implemented, and the study explored the extent of pre-service teachers' understanding of ecology and their perceptions of NetLogo and the practical program after engaging with it. The research results indicate that pre-service teachers developed an awareness of the necessity of using computer modeling tools like NetLogo, through their exploration of NetLogo simulations to construct ecological knowledge. Additionally, NetLogo exploration activities assisted in correcting misconceptions within ecological knowledge and promoted deeper understanding. This research, conducted over two years, discussed the difficulties experienced by pre-service teachers who engaged in NetLogo activities and proposed ways to overcome these challenges.

        의과대학생의 부검에 대한 인식도와 법의병리학 교육의 효과

        Background : The autopsy is a special surgical operation on a dead body to discover its cause of death. The autopsy is necessary for forensic uses, and it is also of great importance for educating students regarding medical uncertainty. Methods : To evaluate medical students’ attitudes toward autopsy and the effect of their attitudes following a forensic pathology course, a questionnaire with 25 items that addressed the usefulness of autopsies and discomfort reactions was used. One hundred eighty nine medical students from 3 medical schools in Daegu participated in this study. Results : The medical students showed a high perception of an autopsy’s principles, but the medical students were reluctant to become personally involved, despite being more aware of the necessities of the autopsy in forensic cases. Acceptance for the necessities of the autopsy for medical students who took the forensic pathology course was increased, but most of discomfort reactions were not improved. Conclusions : One way to fulfill the role of forensic pathology as an inspector for human rights and to retain the very special source of knowledge that autopsies represent would be to provide medical education that lead to reconciliation of the discomfort feelings.

        Changes in Reproductive Strategy of an Early Successional Species Penthorum chinense in Response to Nutrient and Moisture Levels

        Variation in resource allocation to clonal growthversus sexual reproduction suggests that plants have differentadaptive strategies in response to environmental conditionssuch as nutrient availability and soil moisture. Seeds of P. chinense might play an important role in expanding itsestablished populations. We hypothesize that an earlysuccessional perennial plant Penthorum chinense Pursh withmany seeds and small rhizomes does not increase its allocationto rhizome propagules and/or decrease its allocation to seedsunder sufficient nutrient content or moisture conditions,unlike many other perennials. We performed mesocosmexperiments to understand how P. chinense could alterresource allocation to rhizomes and seeds under experimentalmanipulation of water and nutrient availability. Like manyperennials, P. chinense contained more rhizome dry massand rhizome mass fraction under favorable nutrient contentcondition than with relatively low nutrient levels. However,P. chinense did not decrease its allocation to seeds undersufficient nutrient condition. It did not change its allocationto rhizome propagules or seeds under high moisture leveleither, unlike other perennials. These results suggest thatboth rhizomes and seeds of P. chinense might be importantfor expanding its established populations.

        참과학 탐구를 위한 영재수업에서 Giere의 과학 모델 계층 구조와 NetLogo 시뮬레이션의 유용성 탐색

        In this study, we aimed to investigate the usefulness of an authentic science inquiry course closely aligned with scientists' research activities when utilizing Giere's hierarchy of scientific model and the NetLogo simulation program over the course of one year (62 hours) with middle school gifted students. To achieve this, we collected students’ worksheets, responses on the questionnaire, presentation materials of the contest, and final result reports. Students’inquiry activities and interviews were recorded and transcribed. The analysis results revealed that Giere's hierarchy of scientific model served as an excellent map, directing students through the process of authentic science inquiry activities. Furthermore, students' inquiry activities fulfilled all ten criteria of the authentic science rating instrument developed by Spuck. Students perceived a relatively high level of understanding regarding the model-based scientific research process of scientists. Particularly, in ecological research challenging for students to investigate, the use of NetLogo facilitated scientific reasoning and exploration through manipulation of various variables, underscoring its utility. Through a year of authentic scientific inquiry, students were able to construct scientific knowledge through coding simulation models using NetLogo and conduct virtual experiments.

        수소충전소 방호벽 안전성 검증을 위한 TNT 폭발실증 및 전산유동 해석

        수소사회 실현에 있어 수요자가 수소를 가장 쉽게 만날 수 있는 시설인 수소충전소의 안전 확보가 중요하다. 수소충전소는 고압의 수소를 저장하는 압축가스설비 등으로 구성되어 있으며, 시설 내 수소 누출로 인한화재폭발 또는 주변 화재의 영향으로 고압의 압축가스설비가 파열될 위험이 있다. 이에, 한국가스안전공사는설치단계부터 위험요인을 찾아내 설계에 반영하고 법정 검사를 통한 안전 확보에 만전을 다하고 있다. 본연구에서는 수소충전소에 설치하는 방호벽의 안전성 효과를 확인하기 위해 방호벽을 이용한 TNT 폭발 실증시험을 실시하고, CFD 프로그램인 FLACS-CFD를 이용하여 실증시험 결과와 비교‧검증하였다. 실증시험 및CFD 해석 결과 방호벽 후단에서 폭발 과압의 감소 효과가 위치에 따라 50 %에서 최대 90 %까지 감소하는것이 확인되나, 일정거리를 벗어나면 그 효과가 떨어지는 것을 확인하였다. 방호벽의 안전성 검증을 위한 실증시험 및 전산해석 결과는 향후 방호벽 기준 최적화를 위한 제안에 활용하고자 한다. In realizing a hydrogen society, it is important to secure the safety of the hydrogen refueling sta- tion, which is the facility where consumers can easily meet hydrogen. The hydrogen refueling station consists of compressed gas facilities that store high-pressure hydrogen, and there is a risk that the high-pressure com- pressed gas facility will rupture due to a fire explosion due to hydrogen leakage in the facility or the influence of surrounding fires. Accordingly, the Korea Gas Safety Corporation is making every effort to find out risk fac- tors from the installation stage, reflect them in the design, and secure safety through legal inspection. In this study, a TNT explosion demonstration test using a protection wall was conducted to confirm the safety effect of the protection wall installed at the hydrogen refueling station, and the empirical test results were compared and verified using FLACS-CFD, a CFD program. As a result of the empirical test and CFD analysis, it was con- firmed that the effect of reducing the explosion over-pressure at the rear end of the protection wall decreased from 50% to up to 90% depending on the location, but the effect decreased when it exceeded a certain distance. The results of the empirical test and computer analysis for verifying the safety of the protection wall will be used in proposals for optimizing the protection wall standards in the future.

        The optimal balance between sexual and asexual reproduction in variable environments: a systematic review

        Many plant species have two modes of reproduction: sexual and asexual. Both modes of reproduction have often been viewed as adaptations to temporally or spatially variable environments. The plant should adjust partitioning to match changes in the estimated success of the two reproductive modes. Perennial plants showed that favorable habitats in soil nutrients or water content tend to promote clonal growth over sexual reproduction. In contrast, under high light-quantity conditions, clonal plants tend to allocate more biomass to sexual reproduction and less to clonal propagation. On the other hand, plants with chasmogamous and cleistogamous flowers provides with a greater tendency of the opportunity to ensure some seed set in any stressful environmental conditions such as low light, low soil nutrients, or low soil moisture. It is considered that vegetative reproduction has high competitive ability and is the major means to expand established population of perennial plants, whereas cleistogamous reproduction is insurance to persist in stressful sites due to being strong. Chasmogamous reproduction mainly enhances established and new population. Therefore, the functions of sexual and asexual propagules of perennial or annual plants differ from each other. These traits of propagule thus determine its success at a particular region of any environmental gradients. Eventually, if environmental resources or stress levels change in either space or time, species composition will probably also change. The reason based on which the plants differ with respect to favored reproduction modes in each environmental condition, may be involved in their specific realized niche.
