불임여성에서 NAT2, GSTM1, CYP1A1 유전자 다형성과 자궁내막증의 상관관계에 관한 연구

Objective: To investigate the association between endometriosis and polymorphisms of N-acetyl transferase 2 (NAT2), glutathione S-transferase M1 (GSTM1), and cytochrome P450 (CYP) 1A1 genes in Korean infertile patients. Materials and Methods: A total of 303 infertile patients who had undertaken diagnostic laparoscopy during January, 2001 through December, 2003 at Samsung Cheil Hospital enrolled in this study. The patients were grouped according to laparoscopic findings: minimal to mild endometriosis (group I: n=147), moderate to severe endometriosis (group II: n=57), normal pelvic cavity (n=99). Peripheral blood was obtained and genomic DNA was extracted. The genotypes of each genes were analyzed using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP). For NAT2, RFLP was used to detect the wild type (wt) and mutant (mt) alleles, enabling classification into slow (mt/mt) or fast (wt/wt or wt/mt) acetylation genotypes. For GSTM1, PCR was used to distinguish active (+/- or +/+) from null (-/-) genotypes. For CYP1A1, MspI digestion was used to detect the wild type (A1A1), heterozygote (A1A2) or mutant (A2A2) genotypes. Result: The genotype frequencies of NAT2 slow acetylator was 12.8%, 10.9%, 12.8% in group I, group II and control, respectively. The genotype frequencies of GSTM1 null mutation was 55.3%, 41.8%, 53.2% in group I, group II and control, respectively. The genotype frequencies of CYP1A1 MspI polymorphism was 16.3%, 9.1%, 18.1% in group I, group II and control, respectively. No significant difference was observed between endometriosis and normal controls in the genotype frequencies of the NAT2, GSTM1, CYP1A1 MspI polymorphism. Conclusion: The NAT2, GSTM1, CYP1A1 gene polymorphism may not be associated with the susceptibility of endometriosis in Korean women.

Necrotizing fasciitis is an uncommon infection of the subcutaneous soft tissue and fascia. The infection expands rapidly and is highly lethal, so an early diagnosis and a radical debridement of all affected tissues, until healthy tissue is encountered, is necessary. Although necrotizing fasciitis can affect any part of the body including the extremities, trunk, perineum and neck, it is rather a rare entity on the face. We report a rare case of necrotizing fasciitis on the face of a 62-year-old man, who had uncontrolled diabetes mellitus following acupuncture treatment. (Korean J Dermatol 2006;44(7):839~842)

This paper presents the dynamic characteristics of MR impact damper for vehicle collision system. Various types of mechanism have been proposed to reduce force transmitted to the vehicle chassis and finally to protect occupants from injury. In the case of head-on collision, the bumper makes main role of isolation material for collision attenuation. In this study, the proposed bumper system consists of MR impact damper and structures. The MR impact damper utilizes MR fluid which has reversible properties with applied magnetic field. The MR fluid operates under flow mode. The bellows is used for generation of fluid flow. A mathematical model of the MR impact damper is derived incorporating with Bingham model of the MR fluid. Field dependent damping force is investigated with time and frequency domain. The MR impact damper is then incorporated with vehicle crash system. The governing equation of motion of vehicle model is formulated considering occupant model. Dynamic characteristics of vehicle collision system investigated with computer simulation.
이산화염소수, Ultraviolet-C 또는 병합처리가 샐러리와 체리에서의 살균 및 냉장저장 중 미생물 성장에 미치는 효과

신선편이 채소류 중 샐러리와 체리의 미생물학적 안전성을 확보하기 위해 50 ppm 이산화염소수와 10 kJ/㎡ 선량의 UV-C 조사와의 병합 처리에 따른 저장 중 미생물 수의 변화를 측정하였다. E. coli O157:H7로 접종된 샐러리와 체리의 경우, 이산화염소수와 UV-C 병합 처리구의 E. coli O157:H7 수가 대조구와 비교했을 때 각각 2.8, 3.0 log CFU/g의 감소효과를 나타냈다. 또한 접종하지 않은 샐러리와 체리의 총 호기성 균은 병합 처리로 각각 2.9, 1.8 log CFU/g이 감소되었고, 효모 및 곰팡이도 1.8, 1.2 log CFU/g의 감소효과를 나타냈다. 따라서 본 연구결과, 50 ppm 이산화염소수와 10 kJ/㎡ UV-C 조사의 병합처리가 샐러리와 체리의 저장 중 오염될 수 있는 위해미생물 수 감소에 있어서 효과적인 살균처리 기술이라고 판단된다. The effects of a combined treatment of aqueous chlorine dioxide (ClO₂) and ultraviolet-C (UV-C) irradiation on microbial growth in celery and cherries were investigated. Celery and cherry samples were treated with 50 ppm ClO₂, UV-C at dose of 10 kJ/㎡, and a combination of ClO₂ and UV-C. The changes in the counts of Escherichia coli O157:H7 inoculated in the celery and cherries as well as those of total aerobic bacteria, yeast and molds in the celery and cherries were investigated after each treatment. After the combined treatment of aqueous ClO₂ and UV-C irradiation, the populations of E. coli O157:H7 in the inoculated celery and cherries were reduced by 2.8 and 3.0 log CFU/g, respectively, compared to those of the control. For the un-inoculated celery and cherries, the populations of total aerobic bacteria were reduced by 2.9 and 1.8 log CFU/g, respectively, compared to the control. In addition, the populations of yeast and molds were decreased by 1.8 and 1.2 log CFU/g, respectively. These results suggest that the combined treatment of 50 ppm ClO₂ and UV-C at a dose of 10 kJ/㎡ would be an effective technology for decontamination and improving the microbiological safety in celery and cherries during chilled storage.

Argyria is a rare skin discoloration caused by deposition of silver granules in the skin. Recently, argyria has become uncommon, mainly due to the avoidance of both medications containing silver and occupational exposure in the silver industry. However, the recosnition of this condition remains important. We report an interesting case of generalized argyria in a 30-year old man, employed in the mobile telephone subunits industry.
