발생액의 시차조정 역할과 보수주의

This study examines the effect of the timing role of accruals on conservatism or asymmetric earnings timeliness. It is well known that accruals play a role to mitigate the timing and matching problems of operating cash flows. In performing this role, two types of accruals have been used: one is deferral entries that are reflected in earnings after cash receipt or disbursement, and the other is accrual entries that are included in earnings before cash receipt or disbursement. Note that future cash flows should be predicted when recording accrual entries, but not deferral entries. Thus, accrual entries are more likely to be associated with conservatism than deferral entries are. I estimate Dechow and Dichev’s (2002) model to decompose current accruals into three portions associated with previous-period, current-period, and next-period operating cash flows. Then I used Basu’s (1997) model to examine which portion of current accruals are related to conservatism. Empirical result shows that the portion of current accruals associated with next-period operating cash flows obtains positively significant asymmetric timeliness while the portion of current accruals associated with previous-period operating cash flows has insignificant asymmetric timeliness. Further, the positive asymmetric timeliness is more prominent for current expense accruals than current sales accruals. This study contributes to the literature by providing deep understanding of the relation between the timing role of accruals and conservatism in the perspective of future cash flow prediction related to accrual entries. 본 연구에서는 발생액의 시차조정 역할이 보수주의에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 발생주의 회계에서 발생액의 주요 역할은 영업현금흐름의 시차를 조정하는 것인데 현금 수취/지급 후 손익에 반영되는 이연분개 유형과 손익 반영 후 현금 수취/지급이 이루어지는 발생분개 유형으로 나뉜다. 발생주의 회계의 또 다른 주요 개념인 보수주의를 미래현금흐름에 대한 예측 관점에서 보면 이연분개 유형보다 발생분개 유형에서 비대칭적 적시성이 관찰될 것으로 예상된다. 이연분개 유형과 달리 발생분개 유형은 손익반영시점에 미래현금흐름에 대한 예측이 수반되기 때문에 예측의 과대/과소 여부에 따라 보수주의 또는 반보수주의와 관계가 있을 것이다. 이를 검증하기 위하여 Dechow and Dichev(2002) 모형을 추정하여 유동발생액을 전기, 당기 및 차기 영업현금흐름과 관련 있는 유동발생액 요소로 각각 구분하고, Basu(1997) 모형을 이용하여 이들 유동발생액 요소의 보수성, 즉 비대칭적 적시성을 살펴보았다. 실증분석 결과에 의하면 차기 영업현금흐름과 관련 있는 유동발생액에서만 유의한 양(+)의 비대칭적 적시성이 관찰되었다. 또한 이러한 결과는 수익유동발생액보다는 비용유동발생액에서 두드러졌다. 본 연구의 결과는 발생주의 회계의 근간을 구성하고 있는 발생액의 시차조정 역할과 보수주의를 연계함으로써 발생주의와 보수주의 간 관계에 대한 이해를 높일 것으로 기대된다.

감사인의 유형과 보수주의

This study examines the relation between auditor types (big4 vs. non-big4) and conservatism reflected in the audited financial statements. Big4 member firms are known as those having higher reputation and/or audit quality. Given that there is no authoritative definition of conservatism, this study uses four sets of measures as proxies for the degree of conservatism. Prior research has shown that bigger auditors tend to maintain high audit quality and their potential economic losses are larger given audit failure. Thus, the bigger auditors are likely to be more conservative than their counterparts. It is hypothesized that firms audited by big4 member firms are more conservative than those by non-big4 member firms. The sample consists of 329 non-banking firms (1,479 firm-years) listed on the Korean Stock Exchange over the period of 1999-2003. Empirical results support our expectation. Specifically, conservatism measured by market-to-book ratio shows most significant (1% level) statistical difference between the two sample groups. Conservatisms measured by negative nonoperating accruals and change in estimated reserves show statistically significant (5% level) difference. Conservatism measured by asymmetry in the timeliness of incorporating economic events in reported earnings shows insignificant difference. 본 연구에서는 감사인의 유형을 big4 제휴법인과 non-big4 제휴법인으로 구분했을 때 피감사회사의 재무제표에 반영된 보수주의가 감사인의 유형에 따라 차이가 있는지를 검증하였다. Big4 제휴법인은 두 가지 이유에서 non-big4 제휴법인보다 피감사회사에 대하여 보수적인 자세를 견지할 것으로 예상된다. 하나는 명성에 맞는 감사품질을 유지하려고 하기 때문에 피감사회사의 이익의 기회주의적 과대계상을 효과적으로 견제한다는 것이고, 다른 하나는 감사실패에 따른 소송의 경제적 부담이 non-big4 제휴법인에 비하여 더 크다는 것이다. 이에 따라 big4 제휴법인의 피감사회사는 non-big4 제휴법인의 피감사회사에 비하여 회계수치를 보고함에 있어서 더 보수적이라는 가설을 검증하였다. 1999년부터 2003년까지 금융업에 속하지 않는 12월 결산법인 329개 기업(1,479개 기업-년)을 대상으로 실증분석한 결과에 따르면, big4 제휴법인이 감사한 기업의 재무제표는 non-big4 제휴법인이 감사한 기업의 재무제표에 비해서 대체로 더 보수적인 성향을 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 구체적으로는 장부가치와 시장가치의 괴리 정도로 보수주의 성향을 측정한 경우에 가장 뚜렷한 차이(1% 유의수준)를 보였으며, 음(-)의 비영업발생액과 보수적 비용항목의 변화분으로 보수주의를 측정한 경우에도 5% 수준에서 유의한 차이를 나타냈다. 다만 음(-)의 주식수익률에 대한 순이익의 추가적인 반응계수를 사용한 Basu(1997)의 보수주의 측정치에서는 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았다. 외국의 선행연구에서는 대형법인의 감사품질이 소형법인의 감사품질보다 높다는 데 대체적인 의견일치를 보이고 있으나, 우리나라에서는 감사인간의 감사품질에 유의한 차이가 발견되지 않았다는 실증연구도 많이 발표되어 아직까지 이에 대한 일관된 연구결과가 제시되지 않고 있다. 본 연구는 피감사회사의 재무제표 정보의 보수주의 정도가 감사인의 유형에 따라 차별성이 존재함을 실증적으로 검증하였고, 특히 다양한 보수주의 측정치를 사용함으로써 단일측정치가 갖는 측정오차 문제를 완화시켰다는데 의의가 있다.

서남해 연안해역의 항행 위해요소에 관한 분석

해양사고가 빈번하고 교통밀도가 높은 서남해 연안해역에 통항선박의 안전과 항만 입출항 선박의 지원을 위해 해상교통안전관리체 제가 2006년 7월부터 시행되고 있다. 본 해역에서 RADAR와 AIS의 정보를 이용하여 해상교통환경평가를 위해 통항량을 조사하고, 최근 5년간 해양사고의 분포 경향을 조사하였다. 또한 동 해역에서 자연환경의 영향, 어장현황 및 설문조사 분석을 통해 연안해역 항행위해요소를 알아보았다. 최근 5년간 대상해역에서 상선의 해양사고는 점진적으로 감소하는 경향을 보였으나. 어선의 경우는 반대로 증가하는 경향을 보였다. 6월에서 8월 사이의 짚은 안개와 어로행위 및 VHF 청취의무를 이행하지 않는 선박으로 인해 항행위해요소로 나타났다. Since July 2006, marine traffic safety management system have been enforced to support the vessels transiting across the coastal area and the vessels coming in and out of ports in southwestern coastal area where heavy traffic density and marine casualties occurred frequently. The marine traffic volume for the marine traffic environmental assessment was measured by the information from RADAR and AIS system in the area. The distributions of marine casualties were analyzed in the main routes and traffic separation schemes during the last five years and the navigational dangerous elements were investigated with the influence of natural environment, the distribution of fisheries and survey questionnaire. Marine accidents of merchant ships have a tendency to decrease gradually but in case of fishing boats, the rate of marine accidents have a contrary results in this area during the last five years. The dangerous elements on navigation appeared to be the dense force from June to August, fisheries activities and the vessels which not follow the compulsory watch on VHF-band radio communication equipments.

온라인 구전 커뮤니케이션에 나타난 여성언어에 관한 연구 : 화장품 SKⅡ체험후기 중심으로

구전(Word of Mouth)은 개인이 가지고 있는 정보가 다양한 네트워크를 통해 전파되는 현상이며 소비자의 경험에 의한 전달(Experience Delivery)이기 때문에 대중매체를 통한 광고보다는 메시지에 대한 신뢰도가 높다고 할 수 있다. 여성은 강력한 소비주체이면서 마케팅 전파의 홍보 역할까지 수행 할 수 있는 네트워크 허브로써 남성보다 우월한 특질올 갖는다 여성의 관계 지향적 성향은 구전의 수신자인 동시에 전달자의 역 할을 하기도 하는 것이다. 이러한 관점에서 본 연구는 구전커뮤니케이션의 행동적 특정올 가지고 있는 여성을 네트워크 허브로써 간주하였다. 구전커뮤니케이션을 전략적으로 활용하기 위해서는 기업에서 제품 특성에 따른 적합한 구전마케팅 계획을 구가할 필요성이 있다 특히 구전휠동의 당사자 즉 정보원(소비자)에 대한 변밀한 검토가 요구된다. 발 빠른 여성들의 입소문올 기업의 제품 마케팅에 활용함에 있어서 이들의 언어와 의사소통의 특정을 연구하여 이에 동조할 수 있도록 하는 여성언어의 연구는 필수적이다. 이에 본 연구는 인터넷 상의 온라인 소비자 리뷰를 통해 여성 언어를 분석하여 입소문의 주인공인 여성의 언어의 성향 및 특성을 알아보고 추후 광고홍보 제작에 있어 실중적 자료를 삼고자 한다. The Word of Mouth provides more reliable information than the media advertisement as a form of transmission personal and experimental information in various developing networks, and it also superiors than the advertisement on the mass media because it is based upon personal experiences. For years, woman attains to power in the market as a network hub that they are able to not only consumers, but also transfers information at the same time. This point relationship ability is attributed to be a special featurein woman by nature. With these reasons, this study analyzes a woman as a network hub that has abilities of consumption and transmission of information about goods; therefore, the suitable plans and competitive strategies for advertisement are required to study the word of mouth. The minute studies are required to establishment plans on women who transfer information- Transmitting by the word of mouth by woman has special features which are very fast and sensitive, thusthe company needs that establish specific and suitable plan on woman's linguistic features for attain to power in the market. With these supportable reasons, this study will analyzes special features about woman's language on the internet, and hopefully these research results are used an actual proof for to make a successful advertisement.
