We investigated the miscibility of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) and random copolymers of tetrafluoroethylene-hexafluoropropylene-vinylidene fluoride (THV) blends and their interfacial adhesion as part of the development of cladding materials for PMMA based plastic optical fiber. Three different types of THV with different copolymer composition were used as candidates for them. PMMA/THV blends being melt-mixed at $240^{\circ}C$ showed typical immiscible morphology and the glass transition temperatures of the component polymers did not change after mixing. However, tie chains connecting matrix and dispersed phase were identified when THV with high content of vinylidene fluoride, i.e., THV220 was used. In spite of the intrinsic immiscibility of PMMA/THV blends the interfacial adhesion obtained from peel test was above $10^4N/m^2$ at the adhesion temperature of $240^{\circ}C$ and increased with increasing the temperature for THV220. From the melt viscosity data of the polymers it was recommended that the extrusion temperature of THV should be higher than that of PMMA in order to obtain smooth interface between core and cladding layer.

In vertebrates, the face is mainly formed with neural crest derived neural crest cells by the inherent programs and the interactive environmental factors. Extracellular signaling-regulated kinase (Erk) is one of such programs to regulate the various cellular functions. And retinoic acid (RA) also plays an important role as a regulator in differentiation process at various stages of vertebrate embryogenesis. We wanted to know that the segregation as well as the patterning of maxillary and mandibular structure is greatly influenced by the maxillomandibular cleft (MMC) and the failure of this development may result in the maxillomandibular fusion (syngnathia) or other patterning related disorder. It has been well documented that the epithelium at this cleft region has significant expression of Fibroblast growth factor (Fgf) 8, and it is essential for the patterning of the first arch derived structures. By the morphological, skeletal, cell proliferation and apoptotic, and hybridization analysis, we checked the effects of Erk inhibition and/or RA activation onto MMC and could observe that Erk and RA signaling is individually and synergically involved in the facial patterning in terms of FGF signaling pathway via Barx-l. So RA and Erk signaling work together for the MMC patterning and the segregation of maxilla-mandible by controlling the Fgf-related signaling pathways. And the abnormality in MMC brought by aberrant Fgf signaling may result in the disturbances of maxillary-mandibular segregation.

Statement of problem: Removable partial denture and complete denture often require denture base relines to improve the fit against the tissue-bearing mucosa because of gradual changes in edentulous ridge contours and resorption of underlying bone structure. Purpose: This study was performed to investigate the effect of surface design on bond strength of relining denture base resins to denture base acrylic resin. Materials and method: Heat curing resin(Lucitone 199, Dentsply U.S.A. and Vertex, Dentimex, Holland), self curing resin(Tokuso rebase, Tokuyama, Japan), and visible light curing resin(Triad, Dentsply, U.S.A.) were used in this study. The surface designs were classified as butt, bevel and rabbet joint and the bond strengths were measured by Universial Testing Machine (Zwick 2020, Zwick Co., Germany). Results and Conclusion: The obtained results from this study were as follows ; 1. The bond strength of Vertex resin was higher than those of Tokuso rebase and Triad. 2. The bond strength of rabbet and bevel joint was higher than that of butt joint. 3. The failure mode of Triad and Tokuso rebase was mainly adhesive, but cohesive failure was shown mainly in vertex.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to compare Xingjian(LR2) Shaofu(HT8) with Dadun(LR1) Shaofu(HT8) on Blood Pressure in Hypertensive RAT induced by Two Kidney One Clip(2KIC). Methods : This experiments was to investigate the effects of LR2 HT8(originated from ${\ll}$Classic on Difficulty${\gg}$ Shi Ze Xie Qi Zi), LR1 HT8(originated from ${\ll}$Ling Shu${\gg}$ Sheng Ze Xie Zhi) acupuncture on the blood pressure, cardiomegalic index, and plasma levels of atrial natriuretic peptide in hypertensive rat induced by 2K1C. Results: 1. Blood pressure was decreased significantly after third acupuncture of LR2 HT8. 2. Blood pressure was decreased significantly after acupuncture of LR2 HT8, but was increased after LR2 HT8. 3. Cardiomegalic index was not changed after acupuncture of LR2-HT8 and LR1-HT8 4. Plasma levels of atrial natriuretic peptide was increased significantly after acupuncture of LR2 HT8 but LR1 HT8 was not changed.
호스피스 완화의료에서의 초기평가와 돌봄 계획의 수립: 평가도구를 중심으로

For hospice palliative care that provides comprehensive and general care, it is necessary to use assessment tools to objectively list issues and detail care plans. The initial assessment is a process of establishing an overall direction of care by identifying the patient's symptoms, social and spiritual issues and palliative care needs on the admission day or within one day of admission. This process is also used to identify the patients' and families' awareness of the illness, prognosis, treatment options and if the Physician Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment (POLST) has been drafted. Consisting of 13 simple questions regarding the physical, mental, social, and spiritual domains, the Needs at the End-of-Life Screening Tool (NEST) is recommended as an initial assessment tool. Using specific assessment tools, a care plan is established for the issues identified in the initial assessment within three days of admission. A multidisciplinary assessment tool can be helpful in the physical domain. The psychosocial domain evaluates psychological distress, anxiety and depression. The social domain examines an ability to make decisions, understanding of the socioeconomic circumstance, family relationship, and death preparedness. A spiritual evaluation is also important, for which the Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy-Spiritual WellBeing Scale (FACIT-Sp) or the Spiritual Health Inventory (SHI) can be used. The use of an assessment tool could not only contribute to pain mitigation a better quality of life for patients, but also provide systematic training for a multidisciplinary team; And the process itself could be a stepping stone for the better care provision.

This Study was done to estimate the availability of biological resistance analysis method in medical equipment companies in Korea, and if it is usefull in predicting risk of obesity and cardiovascular disease and managing of it, by means of comparing it with blood tests. Especially, we analyzed the correlation between circumference length and fat thickness of each site of body area, which are ones of among measurement values of the BIA. This study has the purpose to propose the use of BIA as basement of diagnosis for efficient management and assessment in the medical device industry in our country.


Paraquat에 의한 사람 임파구 DNA 손상에 대한 환원전리수의 보호효과

본 연구에서는 매우 낮은 음의 산화환원전위를 나타내는 환원전리수가 paraquat에 의한 사람 임파구 DNA의 손상에 미치는 영향을 Comet assay를 사용하여 조사하였다. 환원전리수 처리에 의해서 paraquat에 의해 산화적으로 손상된 DNA가 회복되는 정도를 손상된 DNA로 인한 꼬리부분의 형광광도의 %비율로 나타내었다. Comet assay는 개별 세포의 DNA의 산화적 손상을 측정하는데 널리 사용되고 있다. 사람 임파구에 다양한 농도의 paraquat을 $37^{\circ}C$에서 30분간 처리한 후, 환원전리수를 첨가하여 30분간 반응시켰다. 그 결과 paraquat에 의한 임파구 DNA의 손상은 paraquart 농도증가에 의존적으로 증가하였다. 그러나 환원전리수를 처리한 결과 DNA의 산화적 손상이 paraquat 미처리 대조군 수준으로 거의 다 복구되었다. Electrolyzed reduced water (ERW), showing extremely negative oxidation-reduction potential, was used to investigate the effects of paraquat-induced damages on DNA from human lymphocyte. The effect of ERW on paraquat-induced oxidative DNA damage in human lymphocytes was evaluated by Comet assay (single-cell gel electrophoresis) quantified as percentage fluorescence in tail. Comet assay has been used widely to assess the level of the DNA damage in individual cells. Lymphocytes were oxidatively challenged with various concentrations of paraquat for 30 min at $37^{\circ}C$, and were then treated with electrolyzed reduced water for 30 min. The oxidative DNA damage by paraquat, as indicated by the fluorescent tail in DNA, increased in a dose-dependent manner. However, oxidative damage of the DNA was almost completely prevented upon treatment with electrolyzed reduced water.
