아동 그룹홈 시설장들의 부모교육 참가 과정에서 나타난 양육경험에 대한 질적 연구

본 연구는 아동 그룹홈 시설장의 부모존경-자녀존중 부모교육 프로그램에 참가 과정에서 나타난 양육경험을 분석하여 아동 그룹홈 시설장이 거주아동과의 관계에서 겪는 양육경험의 본질에 대해 탐색하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위해 6명의 아동 그룹홈 시설장들을 대상으로 총 8회기의 부모존경-자녀존중 부모교육을 실시하는 과정의 전사본, 관찰노트와 프로그램진행 중에 작성된 저널, 프로그램의 평가서 등의 자료들을 질적으로 분석하였다. 그 결과로 첫째, 부모교육의 도입단계에서는 1) 양육자로서의 나, 2) 그룹홈 아동은 누구인가? 둘째, 부모교육의 전개단계에서는 1) 긍정적인 관계의 시작과 유지, 2) 아동의 문제행동 해결의 첫걸음, 3) 양육자 역할의 고충이 발견되었다. 셋째, 부모교육의 마무리단계에서는 1) 함께 하는 양육, 2) 부모교육을 통한 변화를 보고하였다. 이와 같은 연구결과에 기초하여 향후 과제와 제언을 제시하였다. The purpose of this study was to understand the parenting experiences of group home directors who participated in the Respected Parents & Respected Children (RPRC) parent education program. Data were collected from six group home directors, which consisted of observers’descriptive notes and reflective notes, participants’ weekly journals and evaluation sheets about the parent education program. Data were analyzed using the phenomenological method. Findings are presented through the following themes. In the introduction stage, the findings answer “Who am I as a caregiver?”; 2) “Who are group home children?” In the development stage, the themes are 1) the initiation and maintenance of positive relationships with group home children; 2) the first step of solving children’s problem behaviors; and 3) the difficulties that group home directors have in managing their caregiving roles. Lastly, in the closing stage the themes are 1) co-parenting with outside resources and a care teacher; and 2) changes obtained through parent education program. Discussions highlight implications and further suggestions based on the results.
학령 초기 자녀의 어머니를 대상으로 한 부모존경-자녀존중 부모교육 프로그램의 효과

The present study employed a pretest-posttest quasi-experimental design model in order to evaluate the effectiveness of the Respected Parents & Respected Children (RPRC) parent education program for mothers of early school-age children. Ninety mothers were randomly assigned to an intervention (n =45) group or a control group (n = 45). Mothers in the intervention group participated in 8 weekly sessions of the parent education program. After the termination of the program, the differences between pretest and posttest were analyzed in terms of both maternal parenting characteristics (i.e., parenting behavior, parenting efficacy, parenting stress, and co-parenting) and children``s social competence. The results indicated that only in the intervention group, self-reported positive parenting characteristics were significantly improved and negative parenting characteristics were significantly decreased. There were no significant effects of the program on children’s social competence as rated by the mothers. These findings suggest that the RPRC parent education program is effective in changing parenting characteristics known as crucial predictors of child outcomes.
학령기 전환 자녀의 어머니 역할 경험에 대한 질적 연구

The purpose of this study was to conduct a qualitative analysis of mothers` role experiences during their children`s transition from early childhood to middle childhood. Eleven mothers of first-grade elementary school students participated in a group meeting, group interviews and journal writing. The results indicated that mothers described their experiences as a critical first step outwards on the journey to independence. The role experiences of the mothers who participated in this study can be seen from three perspectives: Firstly, as mothers as individuals projecting a mother`s worries onto their child and becoming a capable person to help their children adjust to a new school environment, secondly, as mothers as family members experiencing a more authoritarian parenting style and difficulties of co-parenting with their husbands and parents-in-law, and lastly, as mothers as members of the extended family systems experiencing communication difficulties regarding the public education system and feeling uncomfortable with other parents. The findings may be used to develop support programs as well as a channel for interacting with public education bodies and community agencies.
유아의 기질과 순응/불순응 행동 간의 관계에서 어머니의 통제전략의 매개적 효과

The main purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effects of maternal control strategies on the relationship between preschoolers` temperament and compliance/noncompliance. A total of 125 mothers with preschoolers aged 3 and 4 years participated in this study. Preschoolers` temperament was reported by mothers. Maternal control strategies and preschoolers` compliance/noncompliance were observed in the laboratory using a clean-up task. There were four major findings. First, preschoolers with higher levels of activity exhibited less compliance, and preschoolers with higher levels of adaptability and activity displayed more noncompliance. Second, preschoolers whose mothers used fewer commands and more compliments displayed more compliance and less noncompliance. Third, mothers who rated their children higher in activity level used more commands with their children. Finally, the use of maternal commands mediated the association between preschoolers` activity level and compliance/noncompliance. When preschoolers` activity level and maternal control strategies were considered together to predict preschoolers` compliance/noncompliance, the relationship between activity level and compliance/noncompliance became nonsignificant. These findings suggest that the effects of temperament on compliance/noncompliance are indirect through maternal control strategies.
