Treatment of Calcinosis Cutis with Minocycline in Five Dogs
조대희,이왕희,박성준 한국임상수의학회 2017 한국임상수의학회지 Vol.34 No.2
Calcinosis cutis is a chronic condition characterized by insoluble calcified deposits in the skin and subcutaneous tissue. Although there is no uniformly effective treatment for calcinosis cutis, minocycline therapy has demonstrated varying degrees of benefit in humans. Five client-owned dogs with calcinosis cutis were included. Minocycline was administered orally in a dose of 10 mg/kg bodyweight twice a day. Treatment was repeated every day until complete remission. The efficacy of minocycline was evaluated within this period. The side effects of minocycline were monitored and reported by the owners and veterinarians. Of the 5 dogs with calcinosis cutis, which was classified as the dystrophic form, four dogs had a complete remission of calcinosis cutis and one dog had a partial response. The major improvement was a reduction in the size of the calcified deposits and reduction in inflammation associated with them. The duration of remission was 9.1 ± 2.2 weeks. The adverse effects, observed in one dog, were anorexia and vomiting. Minocycline may be effective in the control of calcinosis cutis in dogs.

This study aims to extract the elements of problem-solving capability, which can be the targets of design education. To attain this objective, thinking process of designers are analysed, and induced result is compared with the human intelligence model, to sustain the validity of analysis. Problem-solving capability can be categorized into four aspects; ability of problem definition, ability of concept establishment, ability of space composition, and lastly ability of form composition. Problem definition is a process which concern value criticism, through which design goal is established. Concept establishment is a mental image process that forms conceptual frame of solution, through which design concept is formed. Space composition is to create relations and characteristics of space using physical elements, which grants spatial order. From composition is to create form of physical elements itself, which rightly produces formal aesthetics.
Subcorneal Pustular Dermatosis Successfully Treated with Acitretin in a Dog
조대희,조나영,박정호,이왕희,박성준 한국임상수의학회 2020 한국임상수의학회지 Vol.37 No.6
Subcorneal pustular dermatosis (SPD) is a rare pustular skin disorder of dogs. Dapsone is treatment of choice, but ineffective in some cases. Therapeutic alternatives are limited and less effective. In humans, successful results with oral retinoid have been reported. To describe successful treatment of a dog that developed SPD with acitretin as an alternative drug of dapsone. A 7-year-old male neutered miniature schnauzer was presented with generalized pustules and crusts. SPD was diagnosed based on physical, cytological, and histopathological examination with direct immunofluorescence test. In this report, we describe a case of canine SPD treated initially by dapsone with poor response that improved with acitretin. Acitretin could be considered as an alternative drug in canine SPD.

The purpose of architectural education is to train students as experts of architectural practice. But in general, graduates rarely get positive appraisal in the field of architectural practice regarding their capability of professional practice. Besides this situation, accreditation system for architectural education is to be introduced in the near future, which requires education of professional practice capability to a considerably high degree. In this context, this study aims to seek effective educational method for enhancing professional practice capability in architectural design education. In this study, educational themes are categorized as follows; - Integrating the knowledge of diverse fields such as structural system, mechanical system, electrical system and technologies of civil engineering. - Making drawings and documents of professional practice - Understanding overall procedure of project accomplishment. Educational objects of each category are established according to the student performance criteria, which forms a core part of accreditation standards made by FIKA. Educational strategies are devised through examining a series of researches on the issue of problem solving expertise in the field of cognitive psychology. As a conclusion, educational contents which satisfy the established objects are presented in detail.

Design education should be organized to foster problem-solving capabilities. To maximize efficiency of education, it is needed to devise a instructional strategy that induces the following terms; clarification and specification of educational goal, adjustment of difficulty level, induction of creative problem-solving. Establishment of design projects should consider instructional strategies as follows ; ·Educational goal of each design projects should be defined in terms of problem solving capability, the factors of which are problem definition, concept establishment, space composition and form composition. ·Difficulty levels should be adjusted to fit the ability of the learner, which is possible by adjusting the problem space. ·Creativity of the learner can be fostered by motivation and encoded basic knowledge related to the design projects.
