        광복 70년, 국어학 외연의 확대와 발전

        Over 70 years since Independence, the outer edge of the Korean Linguistics has been expanded in various ways with the development of the Korean Linguistics. When we roughly divide the study which is included in the external areas of the Korean Linguistics into interdisciplinary research and applied research, there are philosophy of language, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, neurolinguistics, rhetorics, Korean stylistics, glottochronology, mathematical linguistics, computational Korean lingustics, Korean corpus lingustics and Korean language culture studies in interdisciplinary research. In applied research, there are Korean educational linguistics, Korean educational linguistics as a foreign language, Korean lexicography, Computational Korean Linguistics, Korean lalopathology, Korean language policy, Korean medium lingustics, Korean advertising lingustics, interpretation studies and translation studies. These external studies of Korean Linguistics and pure Korean Linguistics help each other to expand their views and research methodology, adding various viewpoints in many ways, and achieving mutual rising development by providing new facts and materials in the aspect of information. It can also contribute to the development of Korean language culture by adding practicality that can be used in real life through external studies. Among interdisciplinary researches and applied researches, there are a lot of fields where the researches are already activated but there are still quite a few areas which are about to be studied. In the future, Korean linguistics research should foster user-oriented grammar with researcher-oriented grammar and greatly develop the study of spoken language and discourse. Therefore, we should enlarge the cooperating researches providing more information to external areas of Korean linguistics.

        특집 : 인문학의 한류를 위한 세계적 시야의 한국어문확 연구와 교육; 인문학의 한류를 위한 "한국어 학": 무엇을, 어떻게? -언어 연구 및 언어 교육을 위한 문화교육을 중심으로-

        The Korean cultural wave is currently attempting to spread throughout the world after transforming from popular culture to ‘the K-culture’. The aim of this paper is to show that the nucleus of Korean culture (K-culture) comes from the humanities and that study of the Korean language can do ‘what’ and ‘how’ for the study of the Korean cultural wave of the humanities. In order to demonstrate the fulfillment of this aim, the core content of this paper consists of three sections. The first section investigates what the Korean cultural wave means and how it has evolved and will transform in the future; and at the same time, this section reveals that the Korean cultural wave of the humanities forms the foundation for K-culture. The second section concentrates on the treatment of differences between general linguistics and applied linguistics involving the teaching of language, which constitute the two central figures for the study of the Korean language. This section also presents the recent trends and claims that the 21stcentury is the age in which neo-empiricism leads applied linguistics based on practicality and application and that powerful descriptive linguistics such as corpus linguistics become resources for the formulation of important linguistic theories and provide support for the development of applied linguistics. The third section attempts to find the way that the study of culture is effectively linked to the teaching and the learning of language for people who are interested in learning Korean. For the purpose of achieving this goal, the general analysis of culture is presented on the basis of Moran (2001), and culture and its study are integrated through the cycle of cultural experience, cultural knowledge, and experiential learning. This section also emphasizes that in order for language learners to enhance their cultural experience, they must put their utmost effort not only to collecting cultural information, encouraging cultural activities, and finding good cultural interpretation but also to participating in experiential learning cycles that promote self-consciousness. Language-culture in which language and culture are mingled reflects two sides of a coin where two sides are in relation where one cannot separate itself from the other. Finally, by utilizing my Korean textbook in preparation, it is shown how Korean teaching through cultural experience is conducted in classrooms. Although various ways to teach and learn both language and culture may exist, Moran`s (2001) cultural experiential learning model is used to demonstrate the effective teaching of Korean culture in the Korean language classroom because his model contains rich contents and appears to be easy to understand, as well as effective in teaching.

        문법 교육과 응용 국어학의 관계 맺기

        This study attempted to review how Korean Applied Linguistics was placed in grammar teaching and if the current status would be desirable, in order to set the relationship between grammar education and Korean applied linguistics. To do this, we performed discussion focusing on text linguistics, socio-linguistics, cognitive linguistics, and psycholinguistics among diverse fields of Korean applied linguistics. Then why text linguistics, socio-linguistics, cognitive linguistics and psycho-linguistics are major targets of discussion among diverse Korean applied linguistics? First of all, text linguistics and socio-linguistics has important meaning in grammar education in that they can widen the perspective of traditional linguistics which used to focus on the language itself to the context surrounding around the language and make the language users to pay attention to the issue of actual language use. Additionally, it has important meaning in that language users who have been confined to cognitive linguistics and psycholinguistics are allowed to make an active relationship with language and pay attention to the intention and language processing course of language users. Accordingly, this study tried to analyze the relationship between grammar education and Korean applied linguistics to 2011 revised curriculum after the 7th educational curriculum and to search for the necessity to introduce a new perspective to grammar education and desirable direction of grammar education.

        현대 국어학 개론서의 동향과 추이 연구

        국어학 개론서는 국어학계에서 일반론으로 수용되는 국어학의 기초 이론과, 이를 뒷받침하는 학계의 주류 언어관을 반영하는 논저이다. 본 연구는 현대 국어학 개론서의 체제 구성을 시대별로 검토하고, 이를 바탕으로 학계에 자리잡은 언어관의 동향과 전망을 살펴보았다. 1950년대 이전 시기의 국어학 개론서는 이론언어학, 특히 형태론에 큰 비중을 두고 기술되었다. 1950년대∼1960년대에는 서구 언어학 이론이 유입되면서 이론언어학의 다양한 하위 분과가 국어학 개론서에 자리잡았다. 1970년대∼1980년대부터는 이론언어학의 각 하위 분과의 내용 구성의 비중이 균형 있게 정제되는 한편, 응용언어학의 하위 분과가 국어학 개론서에 편성되기 시작하였다. 1990년대∼2000년대부터는 응용언어학의 분과 확장이 더욱 가속화되었고, 2010년대 이후 국어학 개론서까지 이러한 추세가 이어지고 있다. 이는 이론언어학의 학술적 기반 위에 응용언어학의 영역으로 국어학의 저변이 확장되어가는 동향을 반영하는 것으로 해석된다. Introduction books to Korean linguistics reflect the basic theories of linguistics that are generally accepted in academia and the mainstream linguistic views that support them. This study examines the organization of Introduction books to Korean linguistics by time period and examines the trends and prospects of linguistic views in academia. Before the 1950s, introduction books to Korean linguistics were heavily weighted toward theoretical linguistics, especially morphology. In the 1950s and 1960s, accepted of Western linguistic theories, led to the development of various sub-branches of theoretical linguistics. From the 1970s and 1980s, the content of each subdivision of theoretical linguistics was refined and balanced, while the subdivisions of applied linguistics began to be organized. From the 1990s to 2000s, the expansion of applied linguistics subdivisions accelerated, and this trend has continued since the 2010s. This is interpreted as a reflection of the trend of expanding the base of linguistics into the field of applied linguistics based on the academic foundation of theoretical linguistics.

        한국어 문법 교육을 위한 국어 문법 연구의 모색 -연결어미 및 연결 표현에의 적용을 중심으로-

        This study aims to explore the application of Korean grammar research to Korean grammar education, with a specific focus on conjunctive endings. Conjunctive endings play a crucial role in Korean grammar and are also significant in the context of Korean grammar education. By examining the application of conjunctive endings, this research seeks to provide insights into how Korean grammar research can contribute to the field of applied linguistics. To accomplish this, the study first reviews the current trends in second language teaching theories and recent major theories. Building on the theoretical background, the research identifies three main focal points for conjunctive endings in Korean grammar education. These focal points are presented with concrete examples to facilitate a better understanding. Firstly, it is essential to examine the issue of reflecting changes in the perception of native speakers in terms of the authenticity of language. Secondly, the study emphasizes the importance of discerning distinctions between synonymous grammar items in terms of appropriateness in language item selection. Lastly, the research highlights the significance of teaching pragmatic meaning within context, particularly regarding the use of conjunctive endings in sentence-final positions. Overall, this study provides insights into the direction of future applied linguistic research on conjunctive endings for Korean grammar education, based on the theoretical background.

        한국어교육학의 내용 체계와 연구 방향 모색

        This paper presents the observation that Korean Educational Linguistics(KEL) has its own system of content and research method as an independent scope of science. KEL is an academic division of Educational Linguistics(a branch of the Applied Linguistics) that belongs to the humanities science, and it treats of Korean for the purpose of educational object. The subjects and methods of KEL are explored in the ways that are complicated with various scientific fields(linguistics, psychology, sociology etc.). The basic subjects of KEL are composed of the structure and skill, educational activities, and socio-cultural specification of Korean. And they build up subcategories of KEL by various co-relational ways. In the methods of KEL, it is necessary to accept the achievements of the past time, and to introduce practical approach systems that are used in Applied Linguistics. So, a lot of methods(for example, case study, co-relational analysis, discourse anlysis, survey, observation, experiment etc.) have to be accepted in KEL. It is important that the action research must be activated in KEL, because KEL is a practical academic field. The action research of KEL aims to solve the practical problems that are related with learners, teacher, and teaching-learning in Korean language classroom. And the action research of KEL is performed by both of the quantitative method and the qualitative method. But the quantitative method can show the general trend of a classroom, it has limitation in discovering the process of learners' language ability improvement. Therefore the qualitative method is useful to the action research of KEL, from the point of view that teacher can observe the learning situation of students for a long time, and he/she can analyze the state of learning conditions straightly.

        국어학의 새로운 방향

        Nowadays globalization and informationization are main topics of the 21st century. As for the study of language, the use and application of language will be more highlighted than the language itselt. On the basis of the characteristics of the times, the following new directions can be expected: 1) Development of applied linguistics, 2) Activation of interdisciplinary research, 3) Revival of the Inductive research method, 4) Macroscopic viewpoint of linguistics. More specifically speaking, pragmatic applied linguistics by means of Corpus treatment, language typology, machine translation, computational linguistics, neurolinguistics, 1anguage-cultural anthropolgy and so forth will be more actively discussed in the 21st century.

        한국의 번역학 연구와 국어학의 몇 과제

        이 연구에서는 번역 또는 번역학의 연구 동향을 국어학 연구자들에게 소개하고, 이 가운데서 국어학과의 협동 연구가 가능한 몇 가지 주제를 선택하여 번역학과 국어학의 상호 접점을 찾아보고자 했다. 이러한 연구 목표를 달성하기 위해 우리는『번역학연구』에 게재된 번역 관련 논문337편을 조사했다. 조사 결과 순수 번역학이 253편, 응용 번역학이 84편으로 나타났고, 순수 번역학에서는 이론 번역학이 124편, 기술 번역학이 129편으로 나타났다. 이는 우리 번역학계의 연구 경향이 상당한 이론 편향성을 보인다는 의미로 해석된다. 한편 영어 복수 표현의 번역 문제(국어 문법론), 영-한 번역문의 특징(한국어 문체론), 한국 번역사(국어사)등은 번역학과 국어학의 협동 연구가 필요한 주제로 향후 국어학자들의 연구 지평 확대가 요망된다. This paper aims at introducing the translation studies for Korean researchers and trying to find out some topics which the two fields share with each other. To hit the intended target, we have surveyed 337 papers admitted in the related journal, The J ournal of Translation Studies, and summarizing their academic significance in a brief manner. In this description, we have used the classification frame of translation studies earlier claimed by Holmes. It has been revealed that our circle of researchers on translation studies is heavily theory-oriented. This trend should be overcome, if our research trend of translation studies is to be balanced between theory and practice. The author thinks that some interesting topics, such as the translation rules of English plural expressions, some special lexical, morphological, syntactic traits of English-Korean translated texts compared with non-translated texts, and the translation history of Korea, heartily wait for the insightful aids of Korean linguists. This will help Korean linguists expand their academic horizons over the Korean linguistics proper towards inter-linguistic communication field.

        국어 정책 통계 자료의 체계화 방안 연구

        The main purpose of the present study is to explain the concept and characteristics of Korean language policy statistics as a new type of Korean language data and suggest systematic methods of its collection and arrangement. Korean language policy statistics is a kind of Korean language data that, considering its contents, has a inter-connected features with Korean language policy and, considering its structure, has a quantitative and measured features. For the well-organized and scientific planning and execution of Krean language policy, Korean language policy statistics need to be subtlely established. The study critically reviews the representative cases of the foundation of Korean language policy statistics focusing on Korean Language Policy Statistics Survey (2011-2013) and proposes ways to develop the system at each level of data collection, processing, and application.
