        피라미, Zacco platypus (Cyprinidae, Pisces)의 체색과 형태의 지리적 변이

        한국산 Z. platypus를 체색을 중심으로 개체간 및 개체군 간의 비교를 한 결과 상안부 붉은색의 유무, 주둥이 상단의 붉은색의 유무, 가슴지느러미 전단의 붉은 띠의 유무에서 차 이점이 발견되었다. 상안부가 붉은 개체는 주둥이 상단도 붉은 색을 띠었으며 상안부가 검은색을 띠는 개체는 주둥이 상단에 붉은색을 띠지 않았는데, 이 형질은 암수의 차이가 없이 같은 개체군 내에서는 일정하게 발현되었다. 따라서 이 형질에 의하여 전자는 R형, 후자는 B형으로서 두 가지 형으로 구분하였다. 가슴지느러미 전단의 붉은 띠는 R형과 B형 의 혼인색이 발현된 수컷에서는 모두 나타나고 암컷에서는 B형에서만 나타나는 성적 이형의 형질이었다. Z. platypus의 두 형의 한반도 내 분포를 보면 R형은 거의 전국에 걸쳐 분포하였으나 B형은 동남부인 낙동강, 형산강, 태화강, 회야강, 수영강 및 진전천에서만 발견되어 분포역이 좁았다,외부 형태적 분석에서는 Z. platypus B형과 R형, 일본산 Z. platypus 사이에 뚜렷한 차이는 없었으나 판별분석에서는 일부 중복 되기는 하나 비교적 잘 구분되는 것으로 나타났다. In comparison of the body color of Zacco platypys from Korea, it was found that there were significant differences among geographical populations in the color of upper eye, snout tip and anterior margin of pectoral fin. In individuals with red upper eye the snout tip was red but in those with black upper eye red color did not appeared on the snout tip. There was no difference between male and female in this characteristic and it was expressed uniformly within the same population. So we divided Z. platypus into two types by the color of upper eye; R type with red upper eye and B type with black upper eye. Red band on anterior margin of pectoral fins appeared in all males of both R and B type populations but in females it appeared only in B type individuals,The two types shown different distribution pattern in Korean Peninsula. R type distributed in almost whole area but B type distributed only in southeastern part of the peninsula: Nakdong, Hyeongsan, Taehwa, Suyeong and Jinjeon River. In analysis of external morphology among two types of Z. platypus from Korea and Z. platypus from Japan, there were no significant differences. But they were relatively well separated in discriminant function analysis.

        탄천의 서식처별 어류상과 피라미 개체군의 특징

        2009년 8월부터 2010년 4월까지 탄천 9개 미소서식지에서 어류상과 피라미 개체군의 특성을 조사하였다. 조사 기간동안 채집된 어류는 총 7과 17종개체가 확인되었다. 출현한 어종 중 한국고유종은 Hemiculter eigenmanni와 Odontobutis interrupta로 2종(11.8%)이었으며 국외도입종은 Microterus salmoides 1종 이었다. 우점종으로는 Zacco platypus, 아우점종으로는 Carassius auratus 이었다. 서식처별로는 댐형 웅덩이, 사행형 웅덩이, 평여울, 거석형 웅덩이 등에서 Carassius auratus가 우점하였고, Pseudogobio esocinus는 샛강, Rhinogobius brunneus는 급여울, Z. platypus 는 개방형 하도습지, 낙차형 웅덩이, 폐쇄형 웅덩이 등에서 우점하였다. Z. platypus의 성장도와 비만도의 회귀계수 b값이 3.29의 값으로 나타났고 PCA 분석 결과 탄천에서 크게 3개의 Group으로 나누어졌다. 탄천의 서식처 별 Bray-Curtis Cluster 분석을 실시한 결과 낙차형 웅덩이와 폐쇄형 하도습지가 65.9%로 가장 유사한 것으로 나타났으며, 30.4%로 댐형 웅덩이와 급여울이 가장 대조적인 것으로 확인되었다. The fish fauna and characteristics of population of Zacco platypus in the 9 microhabitat at the Tan Stream was investigated from August, 2009 to April, 2010. The collected species during the survey period were 17 species belong to 7 families. Korea endemic species were Hemiculter eigenmanni and Odontobutis interrupta, which showed a ration of 11.8% in collected species. Dominant species was Z. platypus and subdominant species was Carassius auratus. Dominated species of C. auratus was at the dam-type pool, Meander-type pool, run, and rock-type pool, Pseudogobio esocinus was side channel, Rhinogobius brunneus was riffle, and Z. platypus was channel connected pool, substrate-type pool and channel unconnected pool. Length-weight relationship in the population of Z. platypus was 3.29. PCA analysis was in to the 3 groups identified. Bary-curtis cluster analysis indicated that the substrate-type pool and channel unconnected pool 65.9% showed the most similar, riffle, and dam-type 30.4% were identified as the most contrast.

        하천차수에 따른 금강수계 피라미(Zacco platypus)의 물리적 서식지 평가

        2007년 10월부터 2008년 10월까지 하천차수에 따른 금강수계에서 피라미, Zacco platypus를 대상으로 서식지평가를 실시하였다. 하천차수에 따라 28개 지점을 설정하여 모니터링을 실시하여 총 2,362마리를 채집하였다. 3차하천 이상에서 수심 및 유속은 0.8m와 0.8 m s-1에서 대부분 서식하는 것으로 나타났다. 전장 8~10 cm, 유속 0.3 m s-1, 수심 0.4 m, 모래 (0.1~1.0 mm)~굵은자갈(50.0~100.0 mm), 유수역에서 가장 많이 서식하였다. 전장 6.9 cm 이상에서 암수구별이 가능하였으며, 이에 따라 수컷과 암컷에서 전장 (total length, TL)과 체중(body weight, BW)의 상대성장식은 각각 BW=0.0068×TL3.0274(r2=0.9102) 및 BW=0.0075×TL2.9995 (r2=0.8517) (n=1059)로 나타났다. 부화일수(days after parturition, DAP) TL=0.0108DAP+1.5795 (r2=0.9721)로 나타났다. 식에 의해 6.9 cm일 때 무게는 2.7 g (수컷)과 2.4 g (암컷)로 나타나 부화일수로부터 약 490일 성장한 것으로 추정되었다. We assessed the physical habitat conditions of pale chub (Zacco platypus) considering various stream order in the Geum river basin. Field monitoring was conducted for ecological and habitat conditions for 28 sites from October 2007 to October 2008. The number of Z. platypus sampled during this period was 2,362. In more than 3rd stream, water depth and velocity showing the highest number of samples were 0.8 m and 0.8 m s-1, respectively. In addition, the highest number of samples was observed under the condition of total length (TL) (8~10 cm), velocity (0.3m s-1), water depth (0.4 m), substrate size (send, 0.1~1.0 mm~coarse gravel, 50.0~100.0 mm) and habitat type (run). Based on the monitoring data (n=1059) the relationship between body weight (BW) and TL in male and female were estimated as BW=0.0068×TL3.0274 (r2=0.9102) and BW =0.0075×TL2.9995 (r2=0.8517), respectively. Growth equations on days after parturition (DAP) to the TL were estimated as TL=0.0108DAP+1.5795 (r2=0.9721). By equations (TL 6.9 cm), BW were 2.7 g (male) and 2.4 g (female), and DAP was about 490 days.

      • Morphology of Retinas and Lenses in the Fish of the Genus Zacco (Cypriniformes, Cyprinidae): Possible Relationship with Prey and Habitat

        Vertebrates with different habitats have different proportions of visual cells, with the rod cells responding to scotopic vision and the cone cells responding to photopic and color vision in their retinas. The present work studied whether the kinds and arrangement patterns of the cone cells and interlocking morphology of the lens were related to the kind of preys and habitats in the genus Zacco. The retinas were observed by a light microscopy using H-E staining method and the interlocking formula of the lens fibers were investigated by a scanning electron microscopy. The interlocking formula of the lens fibers of Z. temmincki is an ' anchor and socket ' connection, and that of Z. platypus is a ' ball and socket ' connection. The cone cells of Z. platypus and Z. temmincki constituted compacted mosaic patterns of row type. Away from the center, the double and single cone cells gradually increased in diameter. Zacco temmincki had identical double cone cells and Z. platypus had non-identical double and single cone cells. The eyes of Z. temminckifeeding on a moving aquatic insects in relative limpid water and swift current of mid and upper stream have better resolution than that of Z. platypus feeding on mainly adhesive algae and some aquatic insects in slightly turbid water of mid stream.

        Effects of Dietary Paprika and Lipid Levels on Growth and Skin Pigmentation of Pale Chub (Zacco platypus)

        Two feeding experiments were conducted to investigate the effects of dietary paprika (DP) and lipid (DL) levels on growth performance and skin pigmentation of pale chub, Zacco platypus. Six diets (designated as $P_0L_8,\;P_0L_{17},\;P_8L_8,\;P_8L_{17},\;P_{16}L_8\;and\;P_{16}L_{17}$) were formulated to contain 0%, 8% and 16% paprika with 8% and 17% lipid, respectively. For the growth experiment (Exp I), three replicate groups of fish (average weight 2.6${\pm}$0.2 g) were fed one of the six experimental diets for 8 weeks. At the end of the feeding period, survival was above 94% and not significantly different among dietary treatments. Weight gain, feed efficiency and protein efficiency ratio of fish fed the $P_{16}L_8$ diet were lower than for fish fed the $P_0L_8$ diet. The highest total carotenoid (TC) content was observed in fish fed the $P_{16}L_8$ diet. For the pigmentation experiment (Exp II), each experimental diet was fed to two replicate groups of fish (average weight 9.0${\pm}$0.5 g) for 8 weeks. At the end of the feeding period, TC content of the skin was significantly affected by DP (p<0.05). The highest TC content of the skin was observed after 6 weeks of feeding at all dietary treatments. Astaxanthin content of the skin was not affected by DP and DL (p>0.05). The capxanthin and zeaxanthin contents of skin increased significantly with increasing DP, whereas the opposite trend was observed for lutein and ${\beta}$-cryptoxanthin contents. The skin lightness ($L^*$ values) significantly decreased whereas the values of $a^*$ and $b^*$ were significantly increased in fish fed the diets containing paprika (p<0.05). The present results suggest that feeding a diet containing 8% paprika and 8% lipid for 6 weeks could improve skin pigmentation of pale chub without any adverse effects on growth performance.

        1차원 및 2차원 물리서식처 모형을 활용한 안동댐 하류 하천의 환경생태유량 및 어류서식처 추정

        This study is to estimate the optimal ecological flow and analysis the spatial distribution of fish habitat for Andong dam downstream reach (4,565.7 km2) using PHABSIM (Physical Habiat Simulation System) and River2D. To establish habitat models, the cross-section informations and hydraulic input data were collected uisng the Nakdong river basic plan report. The establishment range of PHABSIM was set up about 410.0 m from Gudam streamflow gauging station (GD) and about 6.0 km including GD for River2D. To select representative fish species and construct HSI (Habitat Suitability Index), the fish survey was performed at Pungji bridge where showed well the physical characteristics of target stream located downstream of GD. As a result of the fish survey, Zacco platypus was showed highly relative abundance resulting in selecting as the representative fish species, and HSI was constructed using physical habitat characteristics of the Zacco platypus. The optimal range of HSI was 0.3~0.5 m/s at the velocity suitability index, 0.4~0.6 m at the depth suitability index, and the substrate was sand to fine gravel. As a result of estimating the optimal ecological flow by applying HSI to PHABSIM, the optimal ecological flow for target stream was 20.0 m3/sec. As a result of analysis two-dimensional spatial analysis of fish habitat using River2D, WUA (Weighted Usable Area) was estimated 107,392.0 m2/1000 m under the ecological flow condition and it showed the fish habitat was secured throughout the target stream compared with Q355 condition. 본 연구는 낙동강 본류의 안동댐 하류(4,565.7 km2) 하천을 대상으로 1차원 물리적 서식처 모형인 PHABSIM과 2차원 물리적 서식처 모형인 River2D를 활용하여 대상어종에 대해 환경생태유량을 산정하고 어류서식처에 대한 2차원 공간분석을 수행하였다. 서식처 모형의 구축을 위해 낙동강유역의 하천기본계획보고서를 활용하여 하천단면정보와 수리학적 입력자료를 수집하였다. PHABSIM 구축범위는 구담수위관측소(GD)로부터 약 410.0 m, River2D의 경우 GD를 포함한 약 6.0 km에 대해 구축하였다. 대상어종 선정 및 HSI 구축을 위해 대상하천의 하류에 위치한 풍지교에서 어류 현장조사를 수행하였다. 어류 현장조사 결과, 피라미가 우점종으로 나타나 피라미(Zacco platypus)를 대상어종으로 선정하였고 피라미의 물리적 서식처 특성을 활용하여 HSI를 구축하였다. 피라미의 최적 HSI 범위는 유속에서 0.3~0.5 m/s, 수심에서 0.4~0.6 m, 그리고 하상재료는 모래에서 잔자갈로 나타났다. HSI를 PHABSIM에 적용하여 환경생태유량을 산정한 결과, 대상하천의 최적 환경생태유량은 20.0 m3/sec로 산정되었다. River2D를 활용하여 어류서식처의 2차원 공간분석을 수행한 결과 WUA는 환경생태유량 조건에서 107,392.0 m2/1000 m으로 산정되었고, Q355 조건과 비교하여 하천 전반적으로 어류서식처가 확보되는 것을 확인하였다.

        PHABSIM을 이용한 복하천 하류 구간의 피라미 생애주기별 물리적 서식처 평가

        The objectives of this study were to assess physical habitat suitability of fish species for different life cycle stages and to suggest appropriate ecologicalstream flows in a Bokha downstream reach. A dominant species of Zacco platypus was selected as the study fish of which three stages of spawning,juvenile and adult in life cycle were considered into assessment. The stream hydraulic environment was calibrated with HEC-RAS before the PHABSIMsimulation. The hydraulics of flow velocity and depth were used to estimate Weighted Usable Area (WUA) by multiplying respective habitat suitabilityindices with stream area. Overall the WUAs tend to be great in gentle slopes with relatively shallow water depth regions. Maximum WUAs, ie,candidate for ecological flow rates were 1 m3/s, 7 m3/s and 8 m3/s for the respective spawning, juvenile and adult stages of Zacco platypus. Sincethe ecological flow rates for juvenile and adult stages appeared to be is greater than the abundant flow rate (3.67 m3/s) for the study reach, additionalwater supply may be needed but should be cautious to avoid the spawning period of Apr through May from the stream water management perspective.
