        비가연성 성분을 포함한 이성분계 액상 용액의 인화점 결정

        인화점은 가연성 액체 혼합물의 화재와 폭발의 위험성을 특징짓는 중요한 인화성 지표이다. 본 연구에서는 Seta flash 장치에 의해 water+formic acid 계와 water+acrylic acid 계의 인화점을 측정하였다. 측정한 인화점을 라울의 법칙과 경험식을 이용한 인화점 예측값과 비교하였다. 라울의 법칙을 이용한 예측 결과의 절대평균오차는 water+formic acid 계의 경우 10.7℃였고, water+acrylic acid 계의 경우 4.8℃이었다. 경험식을 이용한 예측 결과의 절대평균오차는 water+formic acid 계의 경우 1.0℃였고, water+acrylic acid 계의 경우 0.5℃이었다. 결과적으로 라울의 법칙에의한 예측값에 비해 경험식에 의한 예측값이 측정값을 보다 잘 모사하였다. Flash point is the important flammability indicator characterizing the risk of fire and explosion of flammable liquid mixture. In this study, flash points of water+formic acid and water+acrylic acid were measured by Seta flash apparatus. The flash points estimated by the methods based on empirical equation and Raoult’s law were compared with experimental flash points. Absolute average errors of the results estimated by Raoult’s law are 10.7℃and 4.8℃ for water+formic acid and water+acrylic acid, respectively. Absolute average errors of the results estimated by empirical equation are 1.0℃and 0.5℃for water+formic acid and water+acrylic acid, respectively. In conclusion, the estimated values by empirical equation simulated the measured values better than those calculated by Raoult's law.

        라울의 법칙과 다중회귀분석법에 의한 n-Nonane+n-Decane+n-Tridecane 계의 인화점 계산

        가연성 액체 혼합물의 화재와 폭발의 위험성을 규정하는 가장 중요한 성질 중 하나는 인화점이다. 본 논문에서는 삼성분계 액체 혼합물인, n-nonane+n-decane+n-tridecane 계의 인화점을 Seta flash 밀폐식 장치를 사용하여 측정하였다. 실험값은 라울의 법칙을 이용한 방법과 다중회귀분석법에 의해 계산된 값들과 비교되었다. 라울의 법칙에 의한 계산된 결과의 절대평균오차는 0.6℃이었다. 다중회귀분석법에 의해 계산된 결과의 절대평균오차는 0.4℃이었다. 절대평균오차에서 알 수 있듯이 다중회귀분석법에 의한 계산값이 라울의 법칙에 의한 계산값에 비해 측정값을 잘 모사하였다. As can be seen from AAE, the calculated values based on multiple regresstion analysis were found to be better than those based on Raoult’s law.

        n-Decane+n-Undecane+n-Tridecane 계의 인화점 측정과 계산

        Flash point is the most important property that characterize the explosion and fire hazard of liquid mixture. In this paper, flash points of ternary liquid mixture, which is n-decane+n-undecane+n-tridecane system, were measured with Seta flash tester. Measured values were compared with calculated values through Raoult’s law and multiple regression analysis. Absolute average error of the result calculated by Raoult’s law is 1.2 ℃. Absolute average error of the result calculated by multiple regression analysis is 1.0 ℃. As can be seen from absolute average error, the values calculated through multiple regression analysis are more effective than those calculated according to Raoult’s law.

        Flash Points of the Binary Solutions Using Cleveland Open Cup Tester

        The flash point is one of the most significant combustion properties of flammable liquids in industrial processes when evaluation process safety. In this paper, Cleveland open cup tester is used to measure the flash points for the two binary systems (n-propanol + formic acid and acetic acid + propionic acid). The measured flash points were compared with the values calculated by the Raoult’s law and the optimization method using van Laar and Wilson equations. The calculated values based on the optimization method were found to be better than those based on the Raoult’s law.

        The flash point is the most widely used flammability property for the evaluation of the flammability hazard of combustible liquid mixtures. In this paper, the reported flash points for the the binary systems, ethylbenzene+n-butanol and ethylbenzene+n-hexanol were correlated by the optimization method. The optimization method based on the van Laar and Wilson equations were compared with the Raoult's law. The calculated values based on the optimization method were found to be better than those based on the Raoult's law.

        Modeling the Changes in the Concentration of Aromatic Hydrocarbons from an Oil-Coated Gravel Column

        The performance of a lab-scale flow-through exposure system designed for the evaluation of ecotoxicity due to oil spills was evaluated. The system simulates a spill event using an oil-coated gravel column through which filtered seawater is passed and flows into an aquarium containing fish embryos of olive flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus) and spotted sea bass (Lateolabrax maculates). The dissolved concentrations of individual polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in the column effluent were monitored and compared with theoretical solubilities predicted by Raoult’s law. The effluent concentrations after 24 and 48 h were close to the theoretical predictions for the higher molecular weight PAHs, whereas the measured values for the lower molecular weight PAHs were lower than predicted. The ratios of the concentration of PAHs in flounder embryos to that in seawater were close to the lipid-water partition coefficients for the less hydrophobic PAHs, showing that equilibrium was attained between embryos and water. On the other hand, 48 h were insufficient to attain phase equilibrium for the more hydrophobic PAHs, indicating that the concentration in fish embryos may be lower than expected by equilibrium assumption. The results indicate that the equilibrium approach may be suitable for less hydrophobic PAHs, whereas it might overestimate the effects of more hydrophobic PAHs after oil spills because phase equilibrium in an oil-seawater-biota system is unlikely to be achieved. The ecotoxicological endpoints that were affected within a few days are likely to be influenced mainly by moderately hydrophobic components such as 3-ring PAHs.

        밀폐계 측정장치를 이용한 물-노말프로판올 계의 인화점

        The Flash Point is one of the most important combustible properties used to determine the potential for fire and explosion hazards of chemical materials. An accurate knowledge of the flash point is important in developing appropriated preventive and control measures in industrial fire protection. The lower flash points for the Water + n-Propanol systems were measured by using Pensky-Martens closed cup tester. The experimental data were compared with the values calculated by the laws of Raoult and van Laar equation. The calculated values based on the van Laar equation were found to be better than those based on the Raoult's law.

        바이오항공유 규격화를 위한 인화점 측정과 라울의 법칙 기반 예측모델의 비교연구

        Bio-jet fuel has been proposed as a powerful tool for reducing carbon dioxide in the aviation sector. Among the specifications of bio-jet fuel, flash point is a very important specification related to safety during storage, transport and use, but there is a lack of research on it. In this study, we investigated the molar fraction of hydrocarbons in bio-jet fuel produced by the HEFA process from palm oil to predict the flash point of bio-jet fuel based on Raoul’s law. The predicted flash point results were compared with the flash point measured by the tag-closed cup test method. As a result, the predicted flash point of bio-jet fuel was similar to the measured flash point, and a correlation of 0.90 was found. This confirms that the flash point of bio jet fuel can be predicted.
