        단결정 PMN-29PT 적층형 작동기: 제작과 성능

        Piezoelectric PMN-29PT single crystal multilayer actuators [100 $mm^2$ in cross section and 22 mm in length] are designed and fabricated by stacking square plates [$10{\times}10{\times}0.5(t)\;mm^3$] of PMN-29PT single crystals having a $d_{33}$ of about 1,500 pC/N. The characteristics of PMN-29PT multilayer actuators are compared with those of P-025.40P multilayer PZT ceramic actuators [490 $mm^2$ in cross section and 60 mm in length] produced by PI in Germany. Even though the total volume of the PMN-29PT single crystal multilayer actuator is only about 7.5% of that of the P-025.40P ceramic multilayer actuator, PMN-29PT single crystal multilayer actuators are expected to show very similar properties to P-025.40P ceramic actuators in terms of static stroke and blocking force. Therefore, on the basis of their smaller mass and volume compared to the conventional PZT ceramic multilayer actuators, piezoelectric PMN-29PT single crystal multilayer actuators have significant potential regarding the development of various high performance actuators for aerospace subsystems.

        This paper presents a new control mechanism for the proportional pressure control which is accomplished by electro-pneumatic regulator using two PZT actuators. The electro-pneumatic regulator of this study is 2-stage type and consists of two piezoelectric actuators, a controller and a main poppet valve. The piezoelectric actuators are multilayer bender type and are controlled by digital signal. Proportional pressure control technique is very important because that can derive improvement of product quality and driving ability in the pneumatic system. Solenoid actuator method for pressure control is widely used but this actuator has a high power consumption characteristics. So new actuator is required for the energy saving. In this study, PZT actuator for the pressure control was fabricated and experimented instead of the conventional type solenoid actuator. Experiments for the new control mechanism of the elector-pneumatic regulator were operated under the input condition of 0.4[㎫] and it was confirmed that this mechanism has a good control characteristics to the response sensitivity and hysteresis.

        This study deals with the microvalve, which is composed of the multilayer bender type PZT actuator, actuator controller and microvalve body. The object of this study is to develope the microvalve with multilayer bender type PZT actuator. In order to achieve this object, prototype PZT actuator and microvalve were suggested and manufactured. Also, the performance of this model was evaluated through the experiments.

        This paper presents a method to reduce hysteresis in multilayer ceramic actuator by connecting the actuator with a capacitor in a series circuit. The change in hysteresis with respect to the capacitor was examined. 0.2Pb(Mg_(1/3)Nb_(2/3))O₃-0.8Pb(Zr_(0.475)Ti_(0.525)) O₃ ceramic material was used as a piezoelectric material for the actuator. Displacement of the actuator was measured in a capacitive gap sensor measuring system. In case of inserting a capacitor in a total circuit, hysteresis became dramatically decreased, and then finally the hysteresis value can be reduced below 0.2%. It was found in this present study that reducing the hysteresis in the actuator is dependent upon the characteristics of the capacitor in total circuit and also operating frequency

        Fabrication of borosilicate-glass-coated CuAg inner electrode for multilayer ceramic actuator

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>This study introduces a new process for the fabrication of an electrode/ceramic multilayer device that uses a mixture of base and noble metals (Cu and Ag) as the inner electrode and is co-fired in air. In order to protect the Cu base metal when exposed to air, the Cu powder was sequentially coated with Ag nanoparticles using a wet process, and borosilicate glass using a sol-gel process. The degrees of oxidation and shrinkage of the glass-coated CuAg during the co-firing process were investigated. The glass-coated CuAg survived without the formation of copper oxide during the binder-burnout process in air at 500 °C. The CuAg was stable and unoxidized even when further heated to 950 °C, which is ascribable to the protection provided by the Ag layer to the Cu exposed to the oxidative atmosphere. The glass-coated CuAg exhibited complicated shrinkage behavior that was similar to that of glass at low temperatures, and to Ag and Cu densification at high temperatures. To examine the electrical performance of the glass-coated CuAg as an inner electrode, a CuAg/(Bi<SUB>0.37</SUB>Na<SUB>0.37</SUB>Sr<SUB>0.26</SUB>)TiO<SUB>3</SUB> (CuAg/BNST) multilayer-ceramic material was prepared using a conventional tape-casting and stacking procedure. The CuAg-paste binders were evaporated at 500 °C in air, and the CuAg electrode was then sintered at 950 °C in air. The electromechanical performance of the CuAg/BNST ceramic device is similar to that of a AgPd/BNST device, indicating that it can potentially be used as the inner electrode in a multilayer device.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> This paper shows the fabrication and properties of a mixture of copper (base metal) and silver (noble metal) electrode. </LI> <LI> The metal mixture can be processed in air atmophere for the fabrication of the actuator. </LI> <LI> In addition, the comparability of the metal mixture with BNT-ST ceramic for multilayer ceramic actuator was investigated. </LI> </UL> </P>

        Design Strategy of a Piezoelectric Valve for a Color Sorter

        A color sorter is a kind of machine for separating foreign bodies in grain and consists of a feeder, a shoot, a sensor with a lamp and an ejector with a solenoid actuator driven pneumatic valve. A solenoid actuator has some merits, such as a long actuation displacement, a strong attraction force and a long durability, but also has some weak points, such as an attraction force that depends on the operating temperature and a very high power consumption. The drop off in attraction force in a color sorter is a very core parameter for the user or consumer because the color sorter is used in tropical and temperate regions. High power consumption also leads to more and more energy consumption to use the color sorter. This paper presents a new mechanism for the color sorter and discusses the flow characteristics of a piezoelectric driven pneumatic valve, which has a multilayered piezoelectric actuator and two ports for air flow. In order to design the piezoelectric driven pneumatic valve, we analyzed the flow dynamics theoretically, and we researched the processes for fabrication of the multilayered piezoelectric actuator. Finally, we manufactured a pneumatic valve with a multilayered piezoelectric actuator, and based on experiment, we discuss the characteristics of the displacement and the blocking force of the piezoelectric actuator and the flow capability of the manufactured pneumatic valve.

        Based on the theory of piezoelasticity, an analytical solution for a typical multilayer piezoelectric composite cantilever is obtained by the Airy function method. The piezoelectric cantilever may consist of any number of layers. Moreover, the material and thickness for different layers may be different. The solution obtained in the present paper is concise and can be easily applied for the bending analysis of multilayer piezoelectric actuators considering the effect of bonding layers and electrodes. At last, a comprehensive parametric study is conducted to show the influence of electromechanical coupling (EMC), the number of piezoelectric layers, the elastic modulus of elastic layer and the thickness ratio on the bending behavior of actuators. Some interesting results for the design of multilayer piezoelectric actuators are presented.
