        자동차 전장제품의 무연솔더 적용기술 및 솔더 접합부 열화거동

        Due to ELV banning, automotive electronics cannot use four kinds of heavy metal element (Pb, Hg, Cd, $Cr^{6+}$) from 2016. Therefore, this study was focused on degradation characteristics of Sn-3.0Ag-0.5Cu Lead-free solder joint with OSP and ENIG finsh under various reliability assessment method, as like to thermal shock test and high temeprature/high humidity test with test duration for cabin electronics. Also, we compared bonding strength degradation to other advanced research results of electronic control unit for engine room because of difference service temperature with mount location in automotive. Whisker growth phenomenon and mitigation method which were essentially consideration items for Pb-free car electronics were examined. Conformal coating is a strong candidate for mitigating whisker growth in automotive electronics. Necessary condition to adapt Pb-free in car electronics was shown.

        The Structural Analysis on Variable Characteristics of Automotive Seat Frame by FEA

        In this study, structural analysis for the seat frame of automotive was carried out using finite-element analysis (FEA) technique and comparative analysis of the designs of lightening method, while not degrading the strength and stability of the frame. Maximum equivalent stress and maximum deformation amount on the whole seat frame were analyzed by employing the loading condition of passengers on the back and cushion frames, which were made of steel as in the current seat frame of automotive. Moreover, an additional structural analysis of a seat frame that is made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP), instead of the currently using steel material, was performed. The result of this analysis showed that the maximum displacement is increased when using CFRP, instead of steel. In addition, the lower density property of CFRP materials has the potential to reduce the weight of the frame when compared with that of the steel material. Therefore, this result suggests that the steel material that is being currently used in most automotive must be reduced. Overall, this study identifies the structural safety of the seat frame of automotive by comparing the distributed strength of different materials.

      • Prognostic and Health Management Trend in Automotive Industry: An Overview

        In recent years, Prognostic Health Management (PHM) has caught the attention of lots of researchers in a wide range of applications. Thus, many researchers from research institutes, universities and companies have published and patented their findings in various fields of PHM. PHM is a method or technique that can be used to detect performance degradation and forecast remaining life of a system based on the health monitoring information. A number of review papers discussing on PHM methods and techniques have been presented by other researchers but mostly in maintenance of manufacturing equipments, aerospace systems and structural monitoring. This paper focuses on the trend and direction of PHM especially in the automotive industry through published research papers and also patents. The purpose of this paper is to recognize the trend and to provide suggestions for potential future research in PHM for automotive. Accordingly, this paper should offer opportunity for the manufacturers or researchers to get information on current trends and also potential areas that can be further explored in PHM for automotive.

      • 차량용 전동 액추에이터 기어박스의 작동소음 저감을 위한 기초 연구

        Recently, automotive industry is facing changes in a new trend of technology such as eco-friendly, high efficiency and autonomous driving car, and have been overcoming through substitution of internal combustion engine over electric motors. To come up with, automotive parts which are depend on internal combustion engine power has been changed into electric motors and gearbox combinations, and controlling its operating noise is getting more important to satisfy customers’ emotional needs. Through this study, the basic research about operating noise control for an automotive-applied motor driven actuator was performed by analyzing its operating noise with every steps of operating modes. As a result of analysis for each mode, noise and vibration increased at specific rpm of drive motor. As a comparison between noise source and the results of modal test of the system, operating frequency and resonance frequency of the system were overlapped. To solve this problem, several steps of design changing were performed such as changing the shape of gearbox’s cover and the shape of the rubber seal. The results of the steps were defined, and the most effective step was derived.

        Latency Analysis of AVB Network and Optimization Design for Automotive

        This paper presents an overview of automotive communication technologies, including related technology developments. We describe the latency of Audio Video Bridge (AVB) network as well as purpose the optimized design of the Ethernet network system for automotive. Our design plays a significant role in reducing the delay between components. The proposed approach on realistic test cases showed that there was a delay reduction, approximately 49.4%. It is expected that the optimization method for the actual automotive environment can greatly shorten the time period in the design and development process. The results obtained from the experiments on the delay time present in each function are reliable because average values are obtained through repeated actual tests for several months. It will greatly benefit the industry since analyzing the latency between each function in a short period of time is very important.

        자동차용 루버핀 열교환기의 열전달 및 유동 특성에 관한 수치해석

        The heat transfer characteristics of a louver fin for a radiator are numerically analyzed to investigate the performance of radiator for automotive. The commercial code FLUENT is utilized to simulate a louver fin to analyze both the flow fields of air and the solid region of lover fin. The numerical analysis is performed with the variation of air mass flow rate. The results show that as mass flow rate increases, louver fin efficiency is nearly constant. The correlation of the average Nu is derived. The results of numerical study is useful in louvered fin design.

        자동차용 엔진 마운트의 피로거동에 관한 연구

        In this study, Finite Element Analysis (FEA) was used to decide three kinds of material property of vibration proof rubber with the unique characteristic of non-linear and large deformation. As well, three types of hardness (Hs 50, 55, 60) were compared with the result of fatigue tests, fatigue life was able to be predicted. The request for fatigue life becomes strict more and more as increasing stress under conditions like a compaction, high load and high temperature for parts because it is main characteristics of rubber mount for automotive. Regarding to the fatigue life under dynamic deformation condition, it can be predicted as checking forced deformation extends and its frequency and its strain-life curve. As for material property tests of uniaxial tension test, uniaxial compression test, pure shear test, Ogden model was used far FEA by observing relations between stress and strain's rate as curve fitting. As a result of FEA, fatigue life for rubber mount was predicted and accorded well with the experimental data of fatigue test with hourglass specimens. In addition, its property of the predictable fatigue life method suggested in this study was accorded well with the experimental data by comparing the predicted fatigue life of FEA with the result of fatigue test for rubber component of engine rubber mount.

        자동차용 DC-DC 컨버터의 전자파 방사 감소 방법에 대한 시뮬레이션 연구

        In this study, a simulation investigation was conducted on the method of reducing switching noise and spurious emission among design methods for step-down DC-DC converter modules for automotive. A typical 4-layer converter circuit using a PMIC(Power Management Integrated Circuit) chip was presented, and the simulation results of conductive emissions at two input terminals (+, -) and the point between the input filter and the PMIC was performed in the 1.0∼5.0MHz band and the 100MHz band. The results for the conducted and radiated emissions in the HF(3∼30MHz) and VHF(30-300MHz) bands were presented. It showed an improvement of about 10dB over the bands by routing the output terminal placed on the 3 or 4-layer in the opposite direction to the input terminal. The result of this study is expected to be useful in the design of the DC-DC converter modules in the future because it gives a better improvement compared to the existing methods. 본 연구에서는 자동차용 강압 DC-DC 컨버터 모듈 설계 방법 중 변조 스위칭 잡음과 전자파 방사의 감소 방법에 대한 시뮬레이션 연구가 수행되었다. PMIC(Power Management Integrated Circuit) 칩을 이용한 4층 PCB 기본 회로가 제시되었고, 컨버터 모듈의 두 입력단자(+, -) 및 입력 필터와 PMIC 사이에서의 전자파 잡음과 전자기 방사 특성에 대한 시뮬레이션이 1.0∼5.0MHz 대역과 100MHz 대역에서 수행되었다. 전도성 방사 특성은 3.0MHz와 104MHz에 대한 결과를 제시하였고, 입력포트로 되돌아오는 전도성 방사를 줄이기 위해 컨버터 출력 단자를 PCB의 3층 혹은 4층에 입력단의 전류 흐름과 반대되는 방향으로 배치하여 평균 10dB 이상의 개선효과가 나타났다. 본 연구 결과는 지금까지 제시된 불요 전자파 감소 방법에 비해 개선효과가 높아 향후 컨버터 모듈 설계에 유용하게 활용될 것으로 기대된다.
