A Novel Transparent Microwave Thin Film Coating Technique Applied to Dual‑Band Antennas
Yu-Ming Lin,Hung-Wei Wu,Yung-Wei Chen,Cheng-Yuan Hung,Shoou-Jinn Chang,Yan-Kuin Su 대한금속·재료학회 2019 ELECTRONIC MATERIALS LETTERS Vol.15 No.6
In this paper, we propose a novel transparent microwave thin film coating technique and discuss its application in planardual-band antennas (0.9/5.55 GHz). We developed a new process for activating the nano-alignment thin film from high tolow resistivity (from 1.96 to 1.29 × 10−4 Ω cm) and from partial to full transparency (from 55 to 83% transmittance) within150 s. The platform of the activation process comprises a periodic electrode, an optical microscope, and an alternating currentsignal generator. The periodic electrode can effectively rearrange the nano-alignment thin film into an ordered arrangement, which enhances the properties of the thin film in the microwave frequency range. A high-transparency and low-resistivitydual-band antenna is designed and fabricated using the proposed microwave thin film coating technique. The dual-bandantenna has operating bandwidths of 740–960 and 5030–7030 MHz and potential applications in transparent electronicssuch as wearable devices and intelligent cars.

Yu-Hung Hung,Yung-Hung Lee,Pei-Pei Chen,Yuan-Zhao Lin,Chia-Hui Lin,Jeng-Hsien Yen 대한진단검사의학회 2019 Annals of Laboratory Medicine Vol.39 No.1
Background: Several factors, including clinical manifestations and laboratory data, have been used to evaluate the disease activity of Sjögren’s syndrome (SS). We investigated saliva indicators of disease activity in primary SS patients. Methods: We enrolled 138 Taiwanese patients with primary SS and 100 Taiwanese normal controls. Interleukin (IL)-6, IL-17A, tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), and rheumatoid factor (RF)-IgA levels in saliva samples were measured using ELISA or fluorescent enzyme-linked immunoassay. Serum IgG, IgA, and IgM levels were measured by nephelometry. Erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) was measured with an automatic ESR analyzer. The t-test and Pearson correlation test were used. Results: IL-6 level was higher in primary SS patients than in normal controls (14.23±14.77 vs 9.87±7.32, P=0.012), but there were no significant differences in IL-17A, TNF-α, and RF-IgA levels. In primary SS patients, IL-6 level correlated weakly with ESR and IgG levels (r=0.252, P=0.015, and r=0.248, P=0.017, respectively), and TNF-α level correlated weakly with IgG level (r=0.231, P=0.024). Conclusions: IL-6 may play a role in SS pathogenesis. Saliva IL-6 might be an indicator of disease activity in primary SS patients.
Telbivudine-Induced Myopathy: Clinical Features, Histopathological Characteristics, and Risk Factors
Min-Yu Lan,Hui-Chen Lin,Tsung-Hui Hu,Shu-Fang Chen,Chien-Hung Chen,Yung-Yee Chang,King-Wah Chiu,Tsu-Kung Lin,Shun-Sheng Chen 대한신경과학회 2023 Journal of Clinical Neurology Vol.19 No.1
Background and Purpose Oral nucleos(t)ide analogs (NAs) are the mainstay treatment for chronic hepatitis B (CHB). Myotoxicity is an important extrahepatic effect related to NA treatment. Telbivudine is the NA for CHB that is frequently associated with muscle-related side effects. The risk factors for telbivudine-induced myopathy (TIM) are not yet clear. Methods This study characterized the clinical, magnetic resonance images (MRI), and pathological features of 12 TIM cases. A group of telbivudine-tolerant (TT) patients with CHB who received regular telbivudine treatment during the same period without the occurrence of myopathy was collected. Demographic and clinical factors were compared between the patients with TIM and the TT controls. Factors independently associated with TIM were identified using logistic regression analysis. Results The patients with TIM (males/females: 7/5, mean age: 57 years) developed myopathy after using telbivudine for a median period of 19.5 months. Muscle histopathology revealed abnormal proliferation, subsarcolemmal or sarcoplasmic accumulations, and ultrastructural defects of mitochondria. When compared with TT cases, patients with TIM had a lower estimated glomerular filtration rate and were more frequently positive for hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg). Conclusions Mitochondrial abnormalities are characteristic histopathological features, and impaired renal function and HBeAg positivity are risk factors for TIM. Telbivudine-induced mitochondrial dysfunction and immune activation related to mitochondrial damage and HBeAg serostatus changes may underlie TIM. Constant clinical surveillance of myopathy during telbivudine treatment is needed due to the significant latency of its development. Dose adjustment for impaired renal function does not eliminate the risk of TIM occurrence.
Performance of Q-learning based resource allocation for D2D communications in heterogeneous networks
Lee Shu-Hung,Shi Xiao-Pei,Tan Tan-Hsu,Lee Yu-Lin,Huang Yung-Fa 한국통신학회 2023 ICT Express Vol.9 No.6
This study investigates energy efficiency issues of device-to-device (D2D) communications in heterogeneous networks. To minimize the total transmitted power, an approach based on Q-learning together with adaptive ɛ -greedy is proposed to optimize the connection of user equipment (UE) with base station (BS) or access point (AP). The proposed adaptive ɛ -greedy can conduct the adequate exploration and exploitation operations for effective optimization. Simulation results indicate that in the single-cell scenario, the proposed method can attain performance close to the best solution.
Credibility Judgment Predictors for Child Sexual Abuse Reports in Forensic Psychiatric Evaluations
Ling-Hsiang Wang,Yu-Yung Hung,Philip C,Chow,Che-Sheng Chu,Hsing-Jung Li,Ti Lu,Ching-Hong Tsai 대한신경정신의학회 2019 PSYCHIATRY INVESTIGATION Vol.16 No.2
Objective We intended to analyze the credibility judgment in written forensic psychiatric reports of child sexual abuse registered in Southern Taiwan. Methods Ninety-six cases of child sexual abuse between August 2010 and October 2017 encountered in two hospitals were analyzed. The results in these reports were categorized into credible and non-credible. We identified the factors that distinguished between the two groups in bivariate analyses using chi-square test. A binary logistic regression analysis was performed to determine whether the factors that significantly correlated in the bivariate analyses were independent predictors of credible judgments. Results Among 96 cases, 70 (73%) were judged as credible. Consistent testimonies of children (odds ratio=40.82) and multiple abuse events (odds ratio=6.05) were positive variables independently related to the sexual abuse allegations judged as credible. Conclusion The number of allegations judged as credible in this study was slightly higher than that reported in other studies. Our findings about predictors for credible cases are not in line with those reported previously. Due to the differences in resources of the cases and backgrounds of the evaluators among multiple studies, direct comparisons with previous studies must be treated with caution.

The objective of this study was to predict the timing of nitrogen (N) demand through analyzing chlorophyll fluorescence (ChlF), soil-plant analysis development (SPAD), and normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), which are positively correlated with foliar N concentration in star cluster (Pentas lanceolata). The plants were grown in potting soil under optimal conditions for 30 d, followed by weekly irrigation with five concentrations (0, 4, 8, 16, and 24 mM) of N for an additional 30 d. These five N application levels corresponded to leaf N concentrations of 2.62, 3.48, 4.00, 4.23, and 4.69%, respectively. We measured 13 morphological and physiological parameters, as well as the responses of these parameters to various N-fertilizer treatments. The general increases in Dickson’s quality index (DQI), above-ground dry weight (DW), total DW, flowering rate, △F/Fm’, and qP in response to t reatment with 0 to 8 mM N were similar to those of SPAD, NDVI, and Fv/Fm. Consistent and s trong correlations (R² = 0.60 to 0.85) were observed between leaf N concentration (%) and SPAD, NDVI, △F/Fm’, and above-ground DW. Validation of leaf S PAD, NDVI, and △F/Fm’ revealed that these vegetation indices are accurate predictors of leaf N concentration that can be used for non-destructive estimation of the proper timing for N-solution irrigation of P. lanceolata. Moreover, irrigation with 8 mM N-fertilizer i s recommended w hen leaf N concentration, SPAD, NVDI, and △F/Fm’ ratios are reduced from their saturation values of 4.00, 50.68, 0.64, and 0.137%, respectively.
Perforated Sigmoid Colon Cancer within an Irreducible Inguinal Hernia: a Case Report
Kai-Hsiung Ko,Chih-Yung Yu,Chien-Chang Kao,Shih-Hung Tsai,Guo-Shu Huang,Wei-Chou Chang 대한영상의학회 2010 Korean Journal of Radiology Vol.11 No.2
A perforated sigmoid colon cancer within an inguinal hernia is extremely rare. This unexpected finding is usually discovered during surgery and causes an unavoidable septic evolution. Here, we describe the case of an 84-year-old man who presented with fever, abdominal distension, and a painful, enlarged, left scrotum. A CT showed a left, incarcerated, inguinal hernia containing a perforated sigmoid adenocarcinoma (which was confirmed by histopathology). The possibility of an irreducible inguinal hernia in association with perforated sigmoid colon cancer should be considered in the array of diagnoses. A pre-operative CT scan would be helpful in facilitating an accurate diagnosis.
