The effects of electrolyte concentration and current density on the behaviour of volt-time curve of the anodizing, morphology, roughness, crystallinity and composition of the oxide layer were studied. Microstructural morphology, crystallinity, composition and surface roughness of oxide layer were analyzed by observed by scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and X-ray diffractometry(XRD), Energy-dispersive spectrometer(EDS), Electron Probe Micro Analyzer(EPMA)and roughness tester, respectively. The results of this study showed that the voltage incresed as the anodizing time increase. The growth of the oxide film developed a barrier layer to a pore-like layer with an increasing of current density, arising a spark discharge. On the morphology of anodic oxide layer the number and size of porosity was increased by increasing anodizing time at a constant concentration of electrolyte. The size of porosity and the roughness of the anodic oxide layer were increased by the increasing of concentration of electrolyte. The anodic oxide layer obtained in the conditions of this experiment was identified as anatase. The crystallinity of oxide layer was decreased by increasing the concentration of electrolyte at constant current density, and increased by the increasing current density at constant electrolyte concentration. In the EPMA analysis of anodic oxide layer, the concentration of phosphorous was increasing the electrolyte concentration and increasing the final voltage at constant electrolyte concentration, The ratio of O/Ti of the oxide layer obtained in this experiment was near 2 confirming this oxide layer was TiO₂

18 types of Rehmanniae Radix Preparatas, 9 types(from 1st to 9th steamed) of sun-dried and 9 types of oven-dried, were prepared, and the carbohydrates of Rehmanniae Radix Preparata was analized by HPLC. The results were : 1. The Rehmanniae Radix had several carbohydrates such as rhamnose, fucose, glucose, galactose, raffinose and stachyose, and the content of stachyose was the 71.5% of total carbohydrates. 2. In the course of the processing, the oligosaccharides, such as stachyose and rafiinose, were paridly degraded to melibiose and sucrose at first and second processing step. 3. Sucrose and melibiose gradually degraded with each additional processing. 4. The monosaccharides, such as rhamnose, fructose, glucose and galactose, was continuously degraded during the processing. These results suggested that Rehmannia radix preparata sufficiently developed only during second processing.
Glucose Oxidase가 척수지각신경절세포에 미치는 영향과 천마의 효과에 관한 연구

Objectives : To clarify the cytotoxic effect of glucose oxidase(GO) and protective effect of gastrodiae Rhizoma (GR) on spinal sensory ganglion(DRG) neurons, neurotoxicity mediated by GO was measured by MTT assay and neurofilament enzymeimmuno assay(EIA). Methods : DRG neurons were cultured in the media containing various concentrations of GO for 3 hours. In addition, neuroprotective effects of GR, on GO-induced neurotoxicity in DRG neurons were examined after DRG neurons were preincubated with various concentrations of GR for 2 hours before 15mU/ml GO for 3 hours. Results : GO decreased remarkably cell viability in dependently in these cultures, and also RG increased cell viability and amount of neurofilament in DRG neurons damaged by GO. Conclusion : It is suggested that GO has toxic effect in cultured mouse DRG neurons, and also RG was effective in the protection of GO-induced neurotoxicity in these cultures.
Preparation and Properties of PEG Modified PNVP Hydrogel

Polymer hydrogel has attracted considerable interest as a soft material which is finding expanding applications in pharmaceutics and various biomedical fields. In this work, modified PNVP hydrogels were synthesized by crosslinking polymerization of NVP monomer in the presence of PEG macromer with a methoxy end. The effect of the tethered PEG chain on the properties of the hydrogel was investigated in terms of its swelling capacity, compression gel strength, and the morphology of the resulting hydrogels. These PEG-modified PNVP hydrogels possessed good biocompatibility and a decreased protein (fibrinogen) adsorption, thereby indicating their potential as novel drug delivery matrices and scaffold for tissue engineering.

Oncogenic osteomalacia is a rare clinicopathological condition. The syndrome is characterized by hypophosphataemic osteomalacia with hyperphosphaturia, low plasma 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D and normal plasma calcaemia and parathyroid hormone, associated with a tumor, generally of mesenchymal origin. Complete excision of the tumour results in cure of the whole syndrome. Recently we experienced 56-year-old woman with oncogenic osteomalacia caused by a chondromyxoid fibroma of the left foot. We report this case with the review of literatures (J Kor Soc Endocrinol 14:764-770, 1999).
