        대형경유차 저공해기술 적용에 따른 나노입자 배출특성

        Diesel engines which emit a lot of PM and NOx have been known as a main air polluter. Especially, diesel particulate matters (DPM) including black smoke are hazardous air pollutants to human health and environment. The nations retaining advanced engine technologies have reinforced emission regulations. To meet these regulations diesel engine manufacturers have developed low-emission diesel engines, aftertreatment equipments, alternative fuel technologies and so on. In this study, particle number concentrations characteristics according to particle size and engine driving conditions were analyzed when these low-emission technologies were applied. There was a tendency of increasing particle number concentrations from heavy-duty diesel engines with increasing engine rpm and load rate. In the cases of CDPF (Catalytic Diesel Particulate Filter), CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) engine and ULSD (Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel) more than 99% of particle number concentration were removed.

        Purpose: The purpose of this study was to understand the degree of depression, sleep quality, job stress and their association among office workers. Method: A self-administered questionnaire was distributed to 147 workers employed in 5 big enterprises, and 5 small and medium enterprises from October 21 to November 21, 2012. The questionnaires included socio-demographic and health-related characteristics, job-related characteristics, sleep quality, job stress (KOSS) and depression (CES-D). Result: Among all subjects, 23.1% was in the depression group (21 points and over in the CES-D score). Depressive level was positively correlated with job stress and quality of sleep. The adjusted odd ratio for the effects of sleep quality and job stress on depression significantly increased in the depression group compared to that of the normal group. Multiple regression analysis revealed that the following factors of influence had combined explanatory powers on depression: BMI, life satisfaction, quality of sleep, and job stress. Conclusion: The study revealed that complicated influences were exerted on the level of depression by variable factors, as well as socio-demographic characteristics, health-related characteristics, quality of sleep, and job stress. Specifically, the level of depression was influenced by the quality of sleep and job stress.

        Biodegradation of Low-Density Polyethylene by Acinetobacter guillouiae PL211 Isolated from the Waste Treatment Facility

        Plastics are consistently produced owing to their practicality and convenience. Unmanaged plastics enter the oceans, where they adversely impact marine life, and their degradation into nano-plastics due to sunlight and weathering is of concern for all living beings. Nano-plastics affect humans via the food chain, emphasizing the necessity for effective solutions. Microbial biodegradation has been suggested as a solution, offering the advantages of minimal environmental impact and the utilization of decomposition byproducts in microbial metabolic pathways. In this study, fifty-seven bacterial strains were isolated and identified from a waste-treatment facility. Cultivation in a minimum medium with low-density polyethylene (LDPE) beads as the sole carbon source resulted in the selection of the LDPE-degrading strain Acinetobacter guillouiae PL211. The selected strain was cultured at high cell density with LDPE as a carbon source, and Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) analysis confirmed chemical changes on the LDPE bead’s surface. Field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) analysis revealed substantial biodegradation of the LDPE surface. These results demonstrated the capability of A. guillouiae PL211 to biodegrade LDPE beads. This discovery demonstrates the potential of an environmentally friendly process to addressing polyethylene waste issues.

        Tooth Lightness Changes with Listerine Healthy White after Application of Tooth-Coloring-Inducing Foods

        Background: The purpose of this study is to investigate the tooth whitening effect of Listerine Healthy White and provide effective management of extrinsic discoloration by comparing the whitening effects of existing whitening products.Methods: The included study four groups: those using whitening gel, whitening toothpaste, and Listerine Healthy White and a control using artificial saliva. Each group received 40 bovine tooth specimens, which were stained with commonly consumed tooth-coloring-inducing foods; black tea, black coffee, and instant noodles for 72 hours. The specimens were treated with tooth whitening materials for 5 weeks, after which the lightness (L*) was measured weekly using a spectrophotometer. Results: There was a significant difference in lightness among the groups between the 1st and 5th week of treatment for all tooth-coloring-inducing foods (p<0.05). When comparing the changes in lightness values from before whitening to the 5th week of whitening for all tooth-coloring-inducing foods, the order of change was as follows: whitening gel, whitening toothpaste, Listerine Healthy White, and artificial saliva. Listerine Healthy White showed a significant whitening effect for all tooth- coloring-inducing foods (p<0.05). Particularly, changes in lightness values for specimens stained by black tea after 5 weeks of whitening were in the following order: whitening gel (21.72), whitening toothpaste (14.89), Listerine Healthy White (12.91), and artificial saliva (3.85). For specimens stained by black coffee, the changes in lightness values were in the following order: whitening gel (12.99), whitening toothpaste (9.66), Listerine Healthy White (7.91), and artificial saliva (3.12). Lastly, changes in lightness values for specimens stained by instant noodles were as follows: whitening gel (10.84), whitening toothpaste (9.85), Listerine Healthy White (7.71), and artificial saliva (2.61). Conclusion: Listerine Healthy White exhibits continuous whitening effects over time, and for consumers seeking convenient ways to achieve tooth whitening effects at home, consistent use of Listerine Healthy White is recommended.

        이동리프트 사용실태 및 인식도 조사에 관한 연구

        Objectives : This study aimed to identify the necessity, awareness, and usage status of lifts by lift users, guardians, and therapists. By increasing the awareness on lifts, this study seeks to be provided as a foundational material for practical and useful lifts that help prevent safety accidents and improve the treatment of disabled people, elders, and various users. Methods : A total of 1,100 survey questionnaires were distributed to therapists, patients’ guardians, and care workers in medical institutions and welfare facilities located in Seoul, Gyeonggi-do, Busan, and Gyeongsangnam-do from October 1st to October 30th, 2016. The survey was written based on the advice of experts, and consisted of 4 questions on general questions, 5 questions on the awareness of movable lifts, and 11 questions on usage status. Among a total of 1,100 surveys distributed, 231 surveys were collected and 197 of them were analyzed. Descriptive statistical analysis and frequency analysis were performed on valid values from the returned surveys using SPSS 21.0. Results : 77.9% of respondentssaid that they needed a movable lift, and aspecific reason for it was the decrease in guardians’ energy consumption, which was the highest at 65%. Next, safety and functionality were the most important factors to consider during a purchase at 56.9%, and 23.9% of the entire respondents have used or are currently using a movable lift. The remaining respondents have not used it because they have not had a chance to use it, which was the highest at 65.3%, and sling-type (85.1%) was the most commonly used form among the users of movable lift. 23% of the lift users have had an accident during the use, and accident types were the slipping of sling (65%), bumping into an apparatus (22%), and crash (13%) in order. Conclusion : This study showed a result that the actual number of movable lift users was low compared to the market demand toward movable lifts, implying that movable lifts should be distributed more actively in the market. According to the primary consideration factors during purchase, safety and functional aspects were the most important. Finally, it would be necessary to improve the weaknessof sling-type lifts that are supplied the most commonly in the market as well as to develop lifts that are cheaper and can be used easily.

      • 2016년도 전북지역 농산물의 중금속 오염실태조사

        In domestic agricultural products, heavy metals are one of the most important harmful substances together with residual pesticides. The purpose of this study was to investigate the contamination status of 17 agricultural products produced, distributed and sold in Jeonbuk Province in 2016 by investigating the contents of four heavy metals (Pb, Cd, As, Inogarnic As). Agricultural products were analyzed for 248 crops and 17 vegetables. For agricultur80al products, 17 items of cereals and vegetables were analyzed by 248 cases. Microwave method was used for preprocessing and ICP-MS was used. Heavy metals were detected in all samples. In the case of plumbumb(Pb), the mean detectable value was 0.032 for dried bracken, 0.094 for spinach, 0.050 for chestnut sweet potato, 0.023 for soybeans, 0.002 for green chilli, and 0.394 mg/kg for brown rice. Cadmium(Cd) was found to be 0.035 for dried bracken, 0.058 for spinach, 0.041 for potato, 0.024 for red pepper, 0.015 for chinese chive, 0.057 for nonglutinous rice, 0.022 in medicinal plant, 0.077 in brown rice and 0.071 mg/kg in chestnut sweet potato. As for arsenic, nonglutinous rice was 0.041, glutinous rice 0.047, brown rice 0.069, brown rice glutinous rice 0.067 mg/kg. In the case of inorganic arsenic was of 0.033 for nonglutinous rice, 0.070 for brown rice, 0.067 for brown glutinous rice, 0.039 for glutinous rice and 0.090 mg/kg for germinated brown rice showed the results. The samples that exceeded the residual limit of heavy metals (Cd 0.1, Pb 0.2 mg/kg) were 3 brown rice, 0.674 cadmium, 0.337 lead and 0.394 mg/kg lead. All 248 cases were analyzed for harmful heavy metals. Therefore, continuous safety management is required.

        불소도포 및 지각과민처치제 적용 후 상아세관 폐쇄효과와 지속력 평가

        본 연구는 치과병·의원에서 일반적으로 사용되고 있는 불소화합물과 지각과민처치제의 상아세관 폐쇄효과를 비교분석하고, 전동칫솔질을 시행하여 시간경과에 따른 유효성 분의 지속력을 평가하고자 하였다. 발거된 지 3개월 이내의 우식이나 수복, 보철물이 없는 건전한 사람의 대구치 35개를 선택하여 4등분하였고 이 중 135개의 시편을 본 연구에 사용하였다. 이들 시편을 아무런 처치를 하지 않은 대조군과 5개의 실험군으로 구분하였고, 실험군은 산성불화인산염, 불소바니쉬, Gluma, Super Seal, SE-Bond를 선정하여 대상치아에 도포하였다. 이후 1주(140회), 2주(280회), 4주 (560회)에 해당하는 전동칫솔질을 시행하였고, 각 시편별 3 부위를 주사전자현미경(SEM)으로 상아세관 폐쇄도를 관찰하였다. 그 결과 전동칫솔질 시행 1주, 2주, 4주에서 모두 불소바니쉬 도포군의 상아세관 폐쇄도가 가장 높았으며, 그 다음으로 SE-Bond 도포군이 높게 나타났다. 또한 Gluma 도포군은 다른 실험군에 비해 가장 낮은 상아세관 폐쇄도를 나타냈으며, 칫솔질 시행 4주에서는 Gluma 도포군과 Super Seal 도포군이 다른 실험군에 비해 낮은 상아세관 폐쇄도를 나타냈다. 본 연구를 종합하면, 처치 4주 후에도 불소바니쉬와 SE-Bond는 다른 실험군에 비해 상아세관 폐쇄도가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 임상에서 지각과민 치료 시 불소바니쉬와 SE-Bond의 사용이 효과적일 것으로 생각된다 This study compared and analyzed the occluding effects of fluoride compounds and desensitizers, which are commonly used in dental clinics, on dentinal tubules. This study also evaluated the persistence of the active ingredients over time by performing toothbrushing with an electric toothbrush. Thirty-five molar teeth, which had been extracted within the past 3 months from healthy people without tooth decays, amalgam fillings, or dental crowns, were divided into 4 pieces each. Of these, 135 teeth pieces were used as study specimens. These specimens were divided into a control group, an untreated group, and 5 experimental groups (acidulated fluoride gel, fluoride varnish, Gluma, Super Seal, and SE-Bond). The specimens were then subjected to toothbrushing equivalent to 1 week (140 times), 2 weeks (280 times), and 4 weeks (560 times), and the occluding effects on dentinal tubules in 3 regions of each specimen were examined under a scanning electron microscope. The fluoride varnish treated group showed the highest degree of dentinal tubule occlusion effects during the first, second, and fourth weeks of toothbrushing, with the SE-Bond treated group showing the second highest degree and the Gluma treated group showing the lowest degree. After 4 weeks of toothbrushing, the Gluma treated group and the Super Seal treated group showed the lowest degrees of dentinal tubule occlusion effects. In summary, the fluoride varnish treated group and the SE-Bond treated group displayed higher occlusion effects even after 4 weeks of treatment than did the other experimental groups. Therefore, it is the authors’ belief that fluoride varnish and SE-Bond are effective for treating dentinal hyperesthesia.
