This paper aims to fill the gap in the extensive literature on the results of interaction betweenpublic and private R&D expenditures. Two types of public R&D subsidies, the appropriationsand loan interest, are investigated in the effect of public subsidies by applying for a uniquemicro data set of Chinese manufacturing firms combined with the Innovation Fund forSmall and Medium Technology-based Firms (Innofund). The results are consistent with theprediction that loan interest subsidies based on more competitive selective system are moreeffective for the public R&D subsidies than the appropriations. Firms’ heterogeneity,measured by state-owned enterprises (SOEs) and private-owned enterprises (POEs), is testedfor the different impact of public subsidies on corporate R&D investment. The results showthat the crowding-in effect is mainly driven by POEs, not by SOEs, which confirms thetheoretical assumption by Aghion and Tirole that the agency problem play a dominant rolein corporate R&D activities. An improved econometric method, combined propensity scorematching with difference-in-differences estimation strategy, is applied for correcting theselection bias. Our results are robust to different matching techniques.
Antifatigue Effect of Coenzyme Q10 in Mice

The aim of this study was to investigate whether coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) has an antifatigue effect in mice. ICR male mice were orally given CoQ10 in the form of Bio-Quinone® (Pharma Nord, Vejle, Denmark) at doses of 0, 1.5, 15, or 45mg/kg/day for 4 weeks. Mice were made to perform swimming exercise with loads attached to their tails, corresponding to approximately 5% of their body weights, and the total swimming time until exhaustion was measured. Furthermore, the post-exercise concentration of serum urea nitrogen (SUN), pre-/post-exercise and post-rest concentration of lactic acid (LA), and pre-exercise hepatic glycogen were determined. Mice treated with CoQ10 showed a significantly prolonged exhaustive swim time (15mg/kg/day; P<.05), increased liver glycogen contents (15 and 45mg/kg/day; P<.01 and P<.05, respectively), and decreased SUN levels (1.5, 15, and 45mg/kg/day; P<.01) compared to control animals. The LA level was not significantly changed. These results suggest that CoQ10 improves swimming endurance and has an antifatigue effect.
Metabolomics reveals abundant flavonoids in edible insect Antheraea pernyi

The natural flavonoids in foods of plant origin have been well-characterized due to their beneficial biological properties. However, the information regarding the flavonoid compounds in edible insects remains severely limited. In the present study, we used a metabolomics approach to identify the flavonoid compounds in the Chinese oak silkworm, Antheraea pernyi Guérin-Méneville (Lepidoptera: Saturniidae), an traditional edible insect. Our study identified over 200 flavonoid metabolites in the larval midgut of A. pernyi with LC-ESI-MS/MS system. These flavonoid metabolites come from eight subclasses, including flavones (1 0 3), flavonols (34), flavonoids (28), flavanones (20), polyphenols (19), isoflavones (9), anthocyanins (9), and proanthocyanidins (4). The relative content of the flavones is the most abundant, with a value of 36.74% of the total. The top five flavonoid components in A. pernyi are hyperoside, isoquercitroside, tricin 7-O-hexoside, hesperetin 5-O-glucoside and protocatechuic acid, accounting for 51.17% of the total flavonoids. Hyperoside is the most abundant flavonoid compound (18.07% of the total) in A. pernyi. Our findings indicated targeted metabolomics is a useful approach to identify flavonoids in edible insects which contain abundant flavonoids than we already knew.
A Comparison between Traditional and Modern Ethics from the Perspective of Social Philosophy

Social philosophy is the study of people`s conception of basic social objectives. It can be divided into two categories based on two different basic objectives: harmony and strength. Harmony-oriented social philosophy and strength-oriented social philosophy are dominant in traditional society and modern society respectively. From the perspective of social philosophy, we can understand better the differences between traditional ethics and modern ethics.

A simple, highly sensitive and selective method based on the rhodamine B-covered gold nanoparticle with dual-readout (colorimetric and fluorometric) detection for $\small{L}$-cysteine is proposed. A mechanism is that citrate-stabilized AuNPs were modified with RB by electrostatic interaction, which enables the nanometal surface energy transfer (NSET) from the RB to the AuNPs, quenching the fluorescence. In the presence of $\small{L}$-cysteine, it was used as a competitor in the NSET by the strongly Au-S bonding to release RB from the Au surface and recover the fluorescence, and the red-to-purple color change quickly, which was monitored simply by the naked eye. Under the optimum conditions, the detection limit is as low as 10 nM. The method possessed the advantages of simplicity, rapidity and sensitivity at the same time. The method was also successfully applied to the determination of $\small{L}$-cysteine in human urine samples, and the results were satisfying.

Bond Distortion and Electron States in Charged $C_{60}{^2-}$

By considering both electron-electron and electron-lattice interactions, the effect of charge transfer on the bond structure and electronic states of $C_{60}$ is studied without configuration limitation. The results show that the electron-electron interaction does not eliminate the layer structure of the bond distortion and the self-trapping of transferred electrons. For charged ${C_{60}}^{2-}$, there exist two localized electronic states, which possess laminar wave functions, and four nonequivalent groups of carbon atoms, which induce a fine-structure in the NMR spectrum line.

지연반복한자교육법(?圈識字)은 천진의 초등학교 저학년의 한자교육에서 매우 중요한 지위를 점하고 있으며, 그 효과 또한 실제적으로 증명된다. 천진에서의 이런 경험은 다른 한자교육법과 비교해 볼 때, 지연반복한자교육법은 아동의 기억현상과 부합되며, 그 효과 또한 매우 높게 나타난다. 저학년 한자교육은 지연반복한자교육법이 핵심이 되며, 다른 기타 한자교육법은 부가 되어, 이러한 교육 경험을 확대시킬 필요가 있다. 이는 집중한자교육의 이념을 구현한 것이나 그 스스로도 독특한 특징을 가지고 있다. “Delayed repetition literacy” stands an important position on literacy teaching in lower grade in Tianjin, and the effects is obvious. Relative to others, this literacy teaching accords with children`s memory rule, and promotes the teaching effects. It embody the ideal of the “focus literacy”, but also has its own characters and so, deserves popularizing.
