Sixteen kinds of piercing-sucking mouth type insects were observed at witches`-broom diseased paulownia (Paulownia tomentosa) trees. Among ten insect species tested, a leafhopper, Empoasca sp., transmitted paulownia witches`-broom mycoplasma-like organism(PWB-MLO) to periwinkle(Catharanthus noseus) plant. Adults of this leafhopper were collected from PWB-diseased paulownia trees. The leafhpoppers were allowed to feed on the PWB-infected paulownia trees for three weeks to acquire PWB-MLO. These insects were then transferred to healthy seedlings of paulownia and periwinkle plants for inoculation-feeding. About 30-40days after the inoculation, $quot;little-leaf$quot; symptoms developed on periwinkle plants, but no symptoms developed on paulownia seedlings. MLO infection in the diseased periwinkle tissue was diagnosed by fluorescence microscopy. MLOs were observed in the sieve tubes by electron microscopy, proving the insect transmission of PWB-MLO.

<P>The Bcr/Abl chimeric protein was captured by two antibodies, anti-Bcr on gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) and anti-Abl on a biochip, in a sandwich assay format. The presence of the Bcr/Abl in cells was then verified by amplified LDI-TOF MS signals, and relative amounts were quantified using AuNPs coated with deuterated alkanethiols as an internal standard.</P> <P>Graphic Abstract</P><P>A strategy for detection and quantification of the Bcr/Abl protein was developed, where a mass signal amplification method and the isotope-labeled internal standard were used. <IMG SRC='http://pubs.rsc.org/services/images/RSCpubs.ePlatform.Service.FreeContent.ImageService.svc/ImageService/image/GA?id=c4cc01332h'> </P>

미래의 먹거리를 찾고자 하는 활동이 정부단체나 기업에서 활발히 진행되고 있다. 이는 기술과 제품이 특정 한계상황에 도달하여 현재의 기술력만 가지고는 미래를 보장할 수 없기 때문인 것으로 판단한다. 그러나 이러한 활동에 앞서서 기존의 기술들이 현재 활발히 활용되고 있는 것들은 무엇인지를 살펴볼 필요가 있다. 이러한 작업은 현재의 기술과 제품이 어떤 상황에 놓여있고 미래의 먹거리를 찾기 위해서는 어떤 방향으로 나아가야 할 지에 대한 단초를 제공한다고 판단한다. 본 연구는 1976년부터 2007년까지 미국특허에 인용된 인용정보를 수집하여 2003년부터 2007까지 최근 5년 동안에 인용된 특허 중 현재 연구개발에 활발히 인용되고 있는 금속분야 상위 1%의 특허를 대상으로 정량분석을 수행하였다. 분석결과 금속분야에서는 전통적인 특허의 기술수명이 매우 긴 것으로 분석되었다. Activities to search for the new business items of the future in the public and private sectors, has been actively progressed. These generally corne from the situation that current technology can not guarantee the future as the technologies and products are going to reach a certain limit. However, prior to these activities, it is necessary that watching for existing technology they're now actively using. It can provides keys to how to find new business items for the future based on the current situation of the technology and products lies. This study collects citation information from U.S. patents from 1976 to 2007 and analyses quantitatively top 1% of cited patents during the last five years of from 2003 to 2007 in the metal sector. It is shown that traditional patents have very long life cycle in the metal sector.
