Purpose This research aims to investigate factors affecting the application of strategic management accounting in Vietnamese Logistics Enterprises. Design/Methodology/ Approach: Quantitative research was conducted and data was collected by sending questionnaires to 188 accountants and directors from Vietnamese Logistics Enterprises (including, transportation, warehousing and forwarding). 5 factors (namely: size and organizational structure, technological advancement, and strategic management accounting implementing costs) were selected to measure the application of strategic management accounting (SMA) in Vietnamese Logistics Enterprises (LEs) through correlation and regression analysis. Results: The empirical findings show that there exists a significant association between these factors and the SMA application. LEs have strongly supported the application of SMA as a tool to provide information for making their strategic decisions. The factors including size and organizational structure, technological advancement, SMA implementing c osts, and strategy positively impact the SMA application in both financial and non-financial aspects. This finding helps the adm inistrators realize the importance of SMA. Conclusions: This study provided an overview of SMA application and its benefits to enterprises. It helps managers have a better understanding of SMA and future directions for application. Moreover, the research results will be useful for managers to identify factors influencing their SMA practices and improve the current management process applied in organizations.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Undoped and 2 wt% vanadium (V5+) doped TiO2 samples are prepared in polyol medium by low-temperature solvothermal method. The as-prepared samples are annealed at 400 °C for 5 h in an air atmosphere to increase the crystallinity. The XRD pattern shows that pure anatase TiO2 is formed in both the doped and undoped samples. The maximum sizes of nanoparticles are found to be 300 nm and 15 nm with spherical shaped morphology for undoped TiO2 and V5+ doped TiO2 samples respectively. In addition, 2 wt% V5+ doped sample exhibits excellent electrochemical performance with high reversible specific capacity and excellent rate capability compared to the undoped case. This improvement can be attributed to the substitution of the Ti4+ ions by V5+ ions in the TiO2 lattice and create more Ti4+ vacancies in the lattice. This action may lead to the generation of apparently more number of free holes in the doped p-type semiconductor. Therefore, the increased hole concentration in the valence band can contribute to the electrical conductivity of the doped sample. Vanadium doping also influences the sample crystallinity and reduces the particle size, which provides a larger active surface area than that of undoped TiO2.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> A study on V5+ doped TiO2 as a high performance anode for lithium ion battery. </LI> <LI> V5+ doping significantly influence the crystal structure and particle sizes. </LI> <LI> The electronic conductivity is largely improved through V5+ doping. </LI> <LI> V5+ doping greatly increased both the reversible capacity and cycling stability of TiO2. </LI> </UL> </P>

Objective: To compare left ventricular (LV) function, ejection fraction (EF), end-diastolic volume (EDV), end-systolic volume (ESV), and regional wall motion analyzed in 256-slice dualsource coronary CT angiography (DSCT) with 2D transthoracic echocardiography (TTE). Materials and Methods: One hundred twelve patients suspected of coronary artery disease underwent DSCT and 2D-TTE within one week for LVEF, EDV, and ESV. The correlation between DSCT and 2D-TTE measurements was analyzed through linear regression and Bland- Altman analysis. Regional wall motion was visually scored with a 3-point scale (1, normal; 2, hypokinesia; 3, dysphagia, akinesia). Results: Average LVEF at 66.45%±1.27% (range 23%–85%) as determined on DSCT compared with 66.09%±1.01% (range 25%–84%) on 2D-TTE. LVEF exhibited a good correlation between DSCT and 2D-TTE (r=0.715; p<0.001). Good correlations between DSCT and 2D-TTE were demonstrated for LVEDV (r=0.732; p<0.001) and LVESV (r=0.841; p<0.001). Mean differences (±SD) of 1.78±24.10 mL (p<0.05) and 0.77±13.70 mL (p<0.05) were observed between DSCT and 2D-TTE for LVEDV and LVESV, respectively. LVEF was slightly overestimated with DSCT (0.52%±9.59%; p<0.05). Although the LVEF values calculated by DSCT and 2D-TTE were similar, EDV and ESV from DSCT were statistically higher than those from 2D-TTE (p<0.05). Agreement between DSCT and 2D-TTE in regional wall motion was 96.4%, κ=0.840. Conclusion: DSCT can provide comparable results to those using 2D-TTE for LV function (EF, EDV, and ESV) and regional wall motion assessment in a heterogeneous population.
Experimental study on thrust and power of flapping-wing system based on rack-pinion mechanism
Nguyen, Tuan Anh,Vu Phan, Hoang,Au, Thi Kim Loan,Park, Hoon Cheol IOP Publishing 2016 Bioinspiration & biomimetics Vol.11 No.4
<P>This experimental study investigates the effect of three parameters: wing aspect ratio (AR), wing offset, and flapping frequency, on thrust generation and power consumption of a flapping-wing system based on a rack-pinion mechanism. The new flapping-wing system is simple but robust, and is able to create a large flapping amplitude. The thrust measured by a load cell reveals that for a given power, the flapping-wing system using a higher wing AR produces larger thrust and higher flapping frequency at the wing offset of 0.15 (c) over bar or 0.20 (c) over bar ((c) over bar is the mean chord) than other wing offsets. Of the three parameters, the flapping frequency plays a more significant role on thrust generation than either the wing AR or the wing offset. Based on the measured thrusts, an empirical equation for thrust prediction is suggested, as a function of wing area, flapping frequency, flapping angle, and wing AR. The difference between the predicted and measured thrusts was less than 7%, which proved that the empirical equation for thrust prediction is reasonable. On average, the measured power consumption to flap the wings shows that 46.5% of the input power is spent to produce aerodynamic forces, 14.0% to overcome inertia force, 9.5% to drive the rack-pinion-based flapping mechanism, and 30.0% is wasted as the power loss of the installed motor. From the power analysis, it is found that the wing with an AR of 2.25 using a wing offset of 0.20 (c) over bar showed the optimal power loading in the flapping-wing system. In addition, the flapping frequency of 25 Hz is recommended as the optimal frequency of the current flapping-wing system for high efficiency, which was 48.3%, using a wing with an AR of 2.25 and a wing offset of 0.20 (c) over bar in the proposed design.</P>

The object of this study was to improve tomato seedling quality in low temperature(below 7, 10℃ during night time or daily mean air temperature was 18℃) by application of silicate fertilizer. Six different silicate fertilizer concentrations (8, 16, 32, 64, 128, and 256mM) or water as the control were applied to tomato seedlings twice a week for 20 days. Positive effects were observed in the growth parameters of the seedlings treated with 16 and 32mM silicate fertilizer; the most effective concentration of silicate at which seedlings showed the best performance was 16mM. However, a high concentration of silicate (256mM) caused negative effects on the growth. The transpiration rate decreased alongside with the increase of silicate concentration up to 32mM, possibly due to the increased stomatal diffusive resistance. Silicate stimulated the growth and development of tomato seedlings, resulting in increased growth parameters and root morphology. However, no significant differences were observed among treatment numbers of soil-drenching wuth the silicate (6, 10, or 20 times with 16mM) for 20 days, suggesting that silicate treatment with 6 times may be sufficient to induce the silicate effects. The application of 16mM of silicate fertilizer reduced relative ion leakage and chilling injury during low temperature storage. In addition, the seedlings treated with silicate fertilizer recovered faster than those without silicate treatment after low temperature storage.
