BEAR1, a bHLH Transcription Factor, Controls Salt Response Genes to Regulate Rice Salt Response

Teng Yantong 한국식물학회 2022 Journal of Plant Biology Vol.65 No.3

Transcription factors play important roles in plant abiotic stresses. However, there are a large number of TF functions in rice salt response need to be characterized. Our study identified a new transcription factor, BEAR1, acts as a regulator of rice salt response. We used artificial microRNA to generate BEAR1 knockdown transgenic rice, and CRISPR to generate BEAR1 gene editing mutant lines. Both knockdown lines and mutant lines showed salt sensitive phenotypes, compared to NIP. Transient expression in rice protoplast was used to confirm the subcellular localization of BEAR1. The transcription activity of BEAR1 was detected by yeast system. BEAR1 was induced by salt stress and dominantly expressed in root at seedling stage and spikelet at mature stage. BEAR1 regulating rice salt response by controlling expression levels of many salt-related genes, including salt response marker genes and ion transporter genes. The study revealed that BEAR1 was a regulator of rice salt response.

      • Optimization of Drying Conditions for Quality Semi-dried Mulberry Fruit (Morus alba L.) using Response Surface Methodology

Teng, Hui,Lee, WonYoung 경북대학교 농업생명과학대학 2014 Current Research on Agriculture and Life Sciences Vol.32 No.2

Mulberry fruits were semi-dried using hot air (60-100℃) or cool air (20-40℃), and the effects of the dryingtemperature and processing time on the quality of the final driedmulberry fruits were investigated. Response surface methodologywas employed to establish a statistical model and predict theconditions resulting in minimal loss of the total phenolic content(TPC) and ascorbic acid. Thus, using overlapped contour plots, the optimal conditions for producing semi-dried mulberry fruits, which reduced the moisture residue to 45% and minimized thenutrient losses of TPC and ascorbic acid, were determined for thehot-air process (60.7℃ for 5.4h) and cool-air process (34.8℃ for23.3h). Plus, a higher drying temperature was found to lead to afaster loss of moisture and ascorbic acid, while the TPC wassignificantly decreased in the cool-air dried mulberry fruits due tothe higher activity of polyphenol oxidase between 30 and 40℃.

Effect of internal structures on the accuracy of 3D printed full-arch dentition preparation models in different printing systems

        Teng Ma,Tiwu Peng,Yang Lin,Mindi Zhang,Guanghui Ren 대한치과보철학회 2023 The Journal of Advanced Prosthodontics Vol.15 No.3

PURPOSE. The objective of this study was to investigate how internal structures influence the overall and marginal accuracy of full arch preparations fabricated through additive manufacturing in different printing systems. MATERIALS AND METHODS. A full-arch preparation digital model was set up with three internal designs, including solid, hollow, and grid. These were printed using three different resin printers with nine models in each group. After scanning, each data was imported into the 3D data processing software together with the master cast, aligned and trimmed, and then put into the 3D data analysis software again to compare the overall and marginal deviation whose results are expressed using root mean square values and color maps. To evaluate the trueness of the resin model, the test data and reference data were compared, and the precision was evaluated by comparing the test data sets. Color maps were observed for qualitative analysis. Data were statistically analyzed by one-way analysis of variance and Bonferroni method was used for post hoc comparison (α = .05). RESULTS. The influence of different internal structures on the accuracy of 3D printed resin models varied significantly (P < .05). Solid and grid models showed better accuracy, while the hollow model exhibited poor accuracy. The color maps show that the resin models have a tendency to shrink inwards. CONCLUSION. The internal structure design influences the accuracy of the 3D printing model, and the effect varies in different printing systems. Irrespective of the kind of printing system, the printing accuracy of hollow model was observed to be worse than those of solid and grid models.

      • Spatiotemporal Variation of PAHs and n-Alkanes in PM2.5 at Major Urban Sites in Northeast Asia

In this study, to understand the characteristic of the composition of organic compounds in PM2.5 and to evaluate major factors for determining organic aerosols in Northeast Asia, the PM2.5 filters were collected simultaneously at three major urban sites (Ulaanbaatar, Beijing, Seoul) in Northeast Asia from Dec. 15, 2020, to Jan. 15, 2021. The samples were extracted using the organic solvent and then analyzed by GC-MS to obtain n-alkanes and PAHs concentrations. Total n-alkanes concentration in Ulaanbaatar (209±156 ng/m³) presented about five times as high as Beijing (46.8±23.5 ng/m³) and about six times as high as Seoul (35.6±6.63 ng/m³). For PAHs, Ulaanbaatar showed extremely high values as 609±378 ng/m³, which is 24 times as high as Beijing (25.8±14.5 ng/m³) and 46 times as high as Seoul (13.2±3.47 ng/m³). It indicated that the emission from fossil fuel combustion was the most significant in Ulaanbaatar during the winter period. From the contribution of plant wax (WNA%) and carbon preference index calculated from n-alkanes, it can be suggested that aerosol in Ulaanbaatar had the most significant contribution from anthropogenic emission than biogenic emission. From this study, the contribution of anthropogenic emissions for three sites will be compared.

Study on the doping mechanism and electronic structure for Nb5+ doping PbWO4 crystals

        Teng Chen,Kaiyu Xu,Dongli Shi,Mingjie Wang,Tingyu Liu 한국물리학회 2010 Current Applied Physics Vol.10 No.1

The existing forms of the impurity Nb5+ in the Nb5+:PbWO4 (PWO) crystals are simulated by computer technology. The possible various kinds of defects in the Nb5+:PWO crystals are also simulated. By analyzing the calculation results of defect formation energies and binding energies, the optimal substitution positions of the Nb5+ ions and the charge compensating mechanism [Nb-w+V2+ o +Nb-w] in the Nb5+:PWO crystals were obtained. The electronic structures for Nb5+:PWO were calculated with density functional theory code CASTEP. It shows that the doping of Nb5+ ions could suppress the 350 nm absorption band.

      • On Uncertain Probabilistic Data Modeling

Teng Lv,Ping Yan,Weimin He 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Database Theory and Appli Vol.9 No.12

Uncertainty in data is caused by various reasons including data itself, data mapping, and data policy. For data itself, data are uncertain because of various reasons. For example, data from a sensor network, Internet of Things or Radio Frequency Identification is often inaccurate and uncertain because of devices or environmental factors. For data mapping, integrated data from various heterogonous data sources is commonly uncertain because of uncertain data mapping, data inconsistency, missing data, and dirty data. For data policy, data is modified or hided for policies of data privacy and data confidentiality in an organization. But traditional deterministic data management mainly deals with deterministic data which is precise and certain, and cannot process uncertain data. Modeling uncertain data is a foundation of other technologies for further processing data, such as indexing, querying, searching, mapping, integrating, and mining data, etc. Probabilistic data models of relational databases, XML data and graph data are widely used in many applications and areas today, such as World Wide Web, semantic web, sensor networks, Internet of Things, mobile ad-hoc networks, social networks, traffic networks, biological networks, genome databases, and medical records, etc. This paper presents a survey study of different probabilistic models of uncertain data in relational databases, XML data, and graph data, respectively. The advantages and disadvantages of each kind of probabilistic modes are analyzed and compared. Further open topics of modeling uncertain probabilistic data such as semantic and computation aspects are discussed in the paper. Criteria for modeling uncertain data, such as expressive power, complexity, efficiency, extension are also proposed in the paper.

CLOCK and BMAL1 stabilize and activate RHOA to promote F-actin formation in cancer cells

        Teng-jiao Ma,Zhi-wei Zhang,Yilu Lu,Ying-ying Zhang,Da-chang Tao,Yun-qiang Liu,Yong-xin Ma 생화학분자생물학회 2018 Experimental and molecular medicine Vol.50 No.-

Circadian genes control most of the physiological functions in cancer cells, including cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. The CLOCK and BMAL1 complex plays a central role in circadian rhythms. Previous studies have shown that circadian genes may act as oncogenes or tumor-suppressor genes. In addition, F-actin, regulated by RHOA, has been shown to participate in tumor progression. However, the roles of the CLOCK and BMAL1 genes in the regulation of tumor progression via the RHOA-ROCK-CFL pathway remain largely unclear. Here we first indicate that the rearrangement of F-actin is regulated by CLOCK and BMAL1. We found that CLOCK and BMAL1 can upregulate RHOA expression by inhibiting CUL3-mediated ubiquitination and activate RHOA by reducing the interaction between RHOA and RhoGDI. Consequently, CLOCK and BMAL1 control the expression of the components of the RHOA-ROCK-CFL pathway, which alters the dynamics of F-actin/G-actin turnover and promotes cancer cell proliferation, migration,

PERIODIC SOLUTION TO DELAYED HIGH-ORDER COHEN-GROSSBERG NEURAL NETWORKS WITH REACTION-DIFFUSION TERMS

Teng Lv,Ping Yan 한국전산응용수학회 2010 Journal of applied mathematics & informatics Vol.28 No.1

In this paper, we study delayed high-order Cohen-Grossberg neural networks with reaction-diffusion terms and Neumann boundary conditions. By using inequality techniques and constructing Lyapunov functional method, some sufficient conditions are given to ensure the existence and convergence of the periodic oscillatory solution. Finally, an example is given to verify the theoretical analysis.
