To evaluate the powertrain performances and driving behavior of a vehicle, it is necessary to survey the driving patterns, which have influences on fuel economy and emissions.<br/> The driving patterns are depended on the driver's habit and the road and traffic conditions. An in-vehicle data acquisition system, which is called Mode Survey System(MOSS), is designed and developed to analyze the driving patterns of the actual driver. Furthermore MOSS would be able to make a common driving mode to be used in emission, fuel efficiency, shift survey, catalyst durability, and other tests using the analyzed driving patterns.<br/> MOSS is a stand-alone system based on the 68HC11 MCU. It mainly consists of an MCU-based Hardware and a PC-based software. MOSS logs various data relating to powertrain and vehicle driving such as vehicle speed, engine RPM, gear position, brake, clutch, fuel consumption, and others. For analysis of the driving data, MOSS software, which is easy to use, can be used to analyze the driving patterns. Both the real-time processing and the post processing function for driving data analysis are available.<br/>

<P><B>Graphene Staying Strong</B></P><P>Although exfoliated graphene can be extremely strong, it is produced on too small a scale for materials application. Graphene can be produced on a more practical scale by chemical vapor deposition, but the presence of grain boundaries between crystallites apparently weakens the material. <B>Lee <I>et al.</I></B> (p. 1073) show that postprocessing steps during the removal of the graphene sheets can oxidize the grain boundaries and weaken them. If these steps are avoided, the material is comparable in strength to exfoliated graphene.</P>

<P>Blue fluorescent materials based on silicone end-capped 2-diphenylaminofluorene derivatives are synthesized and characterized. These materials are doped into a 2-methyl-9,10-di-[2-naphthyl]anthracene host as blue dopant materials in the emitting layer of organic light-emitting diode devices bearing a structure of ITO/DNTPD (60 nm)/NPB (30 nm)/emitting layer (30 nm)/Alq<SUB>3</SUB> (20 nm)/LiF (1.0 nm)/Al (200 nm). All devices exhibit highly efficient blue electroluminescence with high external quantum efficiencies (3.47%–7.34% at 20 mA cm<SUP>−2</SUP>). The best luminous efficiency of 11.2 cd A<SUP>−1</SUP> and highest quantum efficiency of 7.34% at 20 mA cm<SUP>−2</SUP> are obtained in a device with CIE coordinates (0.15, 0.25). A deep-blue OLED with CIE coordinates (0.15, 0.14) exhibits a luminous efficiency of 3.70 cd A<SUP>−1</SUP> and quantum efficiency of 3.47% at 20 mA cm<SUP>−2</SUP>.</P> <B>Graphic Abstract</B> <P>Highly efficient blue organic light-emitting diodes are developed using dopant materials based on a 2-diphenylaminofluoren-7-yl-vinylarene core with various silicon-substituted end-capping groups. Rituximab treatment for autoimmune limbic encephalitis in an institutional cohort

<P>Objective: To determine efficacy and safety of rituximab treatment as a second-line immunotherapy treatment for autoimmune limbic encephalitis (ALE) and to determine factors associated with functional improvement and favorable outcome following rituximab treatment. Methods: We recruited 80 patients with ALE who were treated with rituximab as a second-line immunotherapy from the Korea Autoimmune Synaptic and Paraneoplastic Encephalitis Registry and reviewed 81 patients without rituximab as a control. We grouped patients according to the detection or type of antibodies; in addition, we evaluated clinical, laboratory, first-line immunotherapy, and rituximab treatment profiles and defined main outcomes as improvements on the modified Rankin Scale (mRS) score and a favorable mRS score (0-2) at the last follow-up. Results: Functional improvement occurred more frequently in the rituximab group compared to the control group. In the rituximab group, 30 (37.5%) patients had synaptic autoantibodies, 15 (18.8%) in the paraneoplastic autoantibodies, and 35 (43.8%) were antibody-negative. The effect of rituximab was the same regardless of autoantibody status. Additional monthly rituximab therapy and partial response to first-line immunotherapies were associated with mRS score improvements, as well as favorable mRS scores. mRS scores of 4-6 as the worst neurologic status predicted an unfavorable mRS score. There were no reported serious infusion-related or infectious adverse effects of rituximab. Conclusions: Rituximab is effective and safe as a second-line immunotherapy for ALE, regardless of autoantibody status. Additional monthly rituximab therapy might potentiate the efficacy of rituximab. Classification of evidence: This study provides Class IV evidence that rituximab improves mRS scores for patients with autoimmune limbic encephalitis who fail first-line therapy.</P>
Tocilizumab in Autoimmune Encephalitis Refractory to Rituximab: An Institutional Cohort Study

<P>A considerable portion of autoimmune encephalitis (AE) does not respond to conventional immunotherapies and subsequently has poor outcomes. We aimed to determine the efficacy of tocilizumab, an anti-interleukin-6 antibody, in rituximab-refractory AE compared with other treatment options. From an institutional cohort of AE, 91 patients with inadequate clinical response to first-line immunotherapy and following rituximab were retrospectively reviewed. Patients were grouped according to their further immunotherapy strategies. Thirty (33.0 %) patients were included in the tocilizumab group, 31 (34.0 %) in the additional rituximab group, and 30 (33.0 %) in the observation group. Outcomes were defined as the favorable modified Rankin Scale scores (aecurrency sign2) at 1 and 2 months from the initiation of each treatment strategy and at the last follow-up. Favorable clinical response (improvement of the modified Rankin Scale scores by aeyen 2 points or achievement of the mRS scores aecurrency sign 2) at the last follow-up was also analyzed. The tocilizumab group showed more frequent favorable mRS scores at 2 months from treatment initiation and at the last follow-up compared with those at the relevant time points of the remaining groups. The majority (89.5 %) of the patients with clinical improvement at 1 month from tocilizumab treatment maintained a long-term favorable clinical response. No serious adverse effects of rituximab or tocilizumab were reported. Therefore, we suggest that tocilizumab might be a good treatment strategy for treating AE refractory to conventional immunotherapies and rituximab. The tocilizumab-mediated clinical improvement manifests as early at 1 month after treatment initiation.</P>

<P>Graphene has received great attention owing to its superior physical properties, making graphene suitable for multiple applications. Numerous graphene growth techniques have been developed in the past decade to provide scalable high quality graphene. Among these techniques, chemical vapor deposition (CVD) on catalytic metal films holds great promises for a large-scale graphene growth. Even though extensive efforts have been devoted to synthesize high quality graphene, formation of defects. In particular, grain boundaries (GBs) have a dominant effect on properties, motivating extensive efforts to tune the CVD growth process to minimize GB. Rapid imaging of GBs will significantly aid in studies of CVD graphene grain structure. Here we report a straightforward technique to optically observe GBs in CVD-grown graphene via optical microscopy, allowing rapid assessment of graphene quality as well as the number of layers. The local oxidation of copper through the damaged GBs induces an optically discernable color change in the underlying copper due to different extend of oxidation between the two copper regions under grains and GBs. Our observation technique for GBs of graphene paves a path for understanding fundamental mechanisms of graphene growth and efficient quality evaluation of large-scale graphene sheet for mass production. Principles and Parameters Theory in Generative Grammar

이 글은 필자가 1999년 11월 25일 한국외대 언어연구소가 주최한 언어학 세미나에서 발표한 강의 내용을 바탕으로 하여 새롭게 논문형식으로 쓴 것이다. 언어화자는 자기의 언어에 대한 내장된 원리들에 대하여 선천적인 지식을 갖고 있는데, 언어학자의 임우는 이러한 원리들이 어떤 것인지를 밝혀야한다. 이것을 기술하는 문법은 인간언어들의 공통적인 원리들의 체계인 보편문법을 표방해야함을 밝히고, 언어들간에 나타나는 변이는 어순이나 주어 생략 등의 매개변향으로 설명될 수 있음을 주장했다. 원리들의 예증으로, 여러 가지가 있겠지만, 술부와 논항 사이의 의미역 관계는 의미역 구조로 표현하였으며, 격실현은 구조적 형상에서 격 부여자의 역할로 완결되는 것으로 규정했다. 속격이나 여격은 영어, 독일어의 자료로부터 봤을 때 내재적인 것으로 분석했다. 그리고 언어들에 나타나는 이동에 있어서의 방해 현상은 하위인접조건과 혼적을 관리하는 원리로 설명하였다. 끝으로 동사의 이동을 국면에 의한 도출로 분석한 SunWoo Lee (1994)의 동사이동을 재 검토 하였으며, 영어의 부가의문문이나, 독일어 동사이동도 총체적인 핵이동의 메카니즘에서 설명할 수 있음을 주장했다.

<P>Ternary logic circuit has been studied for several decades because it can provide simpler circuits and subsequently lower power consumption via succinct interconnects. We demonstrated a ternary full adder exhibiting a low power-delay-product of ~10<SUP>−16</SUP> J, which is comparable to the binary equivalent circuit. The ternary full adder was modeled using device parameters extracted from the experimentally demonstrated multi-V<SUB>th</SUB> ternary graphene barristors.</P>
