      • A Markov jump model approach to reliable event-triggered retarded dynamic output feedback H~ control for networked systems

        Wang, J.,Chen, M.,Shen, H.,Park, J.H.,Wu, Z.G. Elsevier Science B. V., Amsterdam 2017 NONLINEAR ANALYSIS HYBRID SYSTEMS Vol.26 No.-

In this paper, the problem of reliable event-triggered H~ control is addressed for networked control systems by using retarded dynamic output feedback. The randomness of actuators failures is modeled by a stochastic variable in a Markov jump model framework. To guarantee the considered closed-loop system is stochastically stable with a prescribed H~ performance level, a Markov jump event-triggered retarded dynamic output feedback H~ controller is designed in this paper, which is the main purpose of our study. By using the stochastic analysis techniques and novel integral inequalities, some sufficient conditions for the solvability of the addressed problem are derived. Finally, an example using a satellite control system model is provided to explain the validity of the proposed method.

      • H~ filtering of Markov jump linear systems with general transition probabilities and output quantization

Shen, M.,Park, J.H. Instrument Society of America 2016 ISA transactions Vol.63 No.-

This paper addresses the H~ filtering of continuous Markov jump linear systems with general transition probabilities and output quantization. S-procedure is employed to handle the adverse influence of the quantization and a new approach is developed to conquer the nonlinearity induced by uncertain and unknown transition probabilities. Then, sufficient conditions are presented to ensure the filtering error system to be stochastically stable with the prescribed performance requirement. Without specified structure imposed on introduced slack variables, a flexible filter design method is established in terms of linear matrix inequalities. The effectiveness of the proposed method is validated by a numerical example.

Endocrine Disruptive Potentials in Surface Water Samples from Taihu Lake, Yangtze Delta

Shen, L.,Lin, G.F.,Shen, J.H. Korean Society of ToxicologyKorea Environmental Mu 2001 Toxicological Research Vol.17 No.-

Taihu Lake is a major water source for part of Yangtze Delta, which is one of the most urbanized and economically prosperous areas in China. In last couple of decades, some parts of the lake were highly polluted due to eutrophication. This study analyzed dioxin-like potential and mutagenic potential in surface water samples from Taihu Lake. The samples were prepared by XAD-2 resin procedure. A batch of biological assays, including dioxin-like potential microassay with the rat hepatocyte cell line H411E, and Ames test was employed in the research. Results showed that jour water samples have high content of dioxin-like biological potential, the highest activity TEQ to 2,3,7,8-TCDD was 48 pg/ι in sample 1. The mutagenic effect with reading-frame shifting mechanism was confirmed in 3 of 4 samples. The effective sewage treatment facilities and reliable monitoring surveillance system are urgently needed for this area.

Finite-time H~ static output control of Markov jump systems with an auxiliary approach

        Shen, M.,Yan, S.,Zhang, G.,Park, J.H. Elsevier [etc.] 2016 Applied Mathematics and Computation Vol.273 No.-

<P>This paper considers the finite time H-infinity static output feedback control of Markov jump systems. With the help of introducing two new variables related to the original system state and output, sufficient conditions for the closed loop system to be stochastic finite time boundedness with the prescribed H-infinity performance level are proposed in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Meanwhile, the static output control gains are solved explicitly by the proposed conditions. It is shown that the proposed method is less or at least the same conservative than the existing result. Lastly, a numerical example is given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. (C) 2015 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.</P>

MicroRNA-221 governs tumor suppressor HDAC6 to potentiate malignant progression of liver cancer

        Bae, H.J.,Jung, K.H.,Eun, J.W.,Shen, Q.,Kim, H.S.,Park, S.J.,Shin, W.C.,Yang, H.D.,Park, W.S.,Lee, J.Y.,Nam, S.W. Elsevier Science Publishers 2015 Journal of hepatology Vol.63 No.2

Background & Aims: Most common reason behind changes in histone deacetylase (HDAC) function is its overexpression in cancer. However, among HDACs in liver cancer, HDAC6 is uniquely endowed with a tumor suppressor, but the mechanism underlying HDAC6 inactivation has yet to be uncovered. Methods: Microarray profiling and target prediction programs were used to identify miRNAs targeting HDAC6. A series of inhibitors, activators and siRNAs was introduced to validate regulatory mechanisms for microRNA-221-3p (miR-221) governing HDAC6 in hepatocarcinogenesis. Results: Comprehensive miRNA profiling analysis identified seven putative endogenous miRNAs that are significantly upregulated in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). While miR-221 was identified as a suppressor of HDAC6 by ectopic expression of miRNA mimics in Dicer knockdown cells, targeted-disruption of miR-221 repressed cancer cell growth through derepressing HDAC6 expression. Suppression of HDAC6 via miR-221 was induced by JNK/c-Jun signaling in liver cancer cells but not in normal hepatic cells. Additionally, cytokine-induced NF-κBp65 independently regulated miR-221, thereby suppressing HDAC6 expression in HCC cells. HCC tissues derived from chemical-induced rat and H-ras12V transgenic mice liver cancer models validated that JNK/c-Jun activation and NF-κBp65 nuclear translocation are essential for the transcription of miR-221 leading to repression of HDAC6 in HCC. Conclusions: Our findings suggest that the functional loss or suppression of the tumor suppressor HDAC6 is caused by induction of miR-221 through coordinated JNK/c-Jun- and NF-κB-signaling pathways during liver tumorigenesis, providing a novel target for the molecular treatment of liver malignancies.

      • New delay-dependent bounded real lemmas of polytopic uncertain singular Markov jump systems with time delays

Wang, J.,Park, J.H.,Shen, H. Pergamon Press [etc.] 2014 Journal of the Franklin Institute Vol.351 No.3

This paper addresses the H~ performance analysis problem for singular Markov jump delayed systems with polyhedral parameter uncertainties. By introducing two useful inequalities (see Lemma 2), some new bounded real lemmas (BRLs) are obtained based on a novel parameter-dependent Lyapunov functional. The presented BRLs can guarantee that the considered system is stochastically admissible and satisfies a prescribed H~ performance level. Two numerical examples are provided to demonstrate the improvement of the proposed method over the existing methods.

Charge transfer bands of Mo-O and photoluminescence properties of micro-material Y2MoO6:Eu3+ red phosphor

        Wang, M.,Zhang, H.,Li, L.,Liu, X.,Hong, F.,Li, R.,Song, H.,Gui, M.,Shen, J.,Zhu, W.,Wang, J.,Zhou, L.,Jeong, J.H. Elsevier Sequoia 2014 JOURNAL OF ALLOYS AND COMPOUNDS Vol.585 No.-

Eu3+ activated micrometer Y2MoO6 phosphors with strong red emission bands, under a broad-band excitation wavelength range of 340-400nm, have been prepared by solid-state reaction and sol-gel technique. The photoluminescence indicates that the materials exhibit a characteristic red emission peak of Eu3+ ions at 612nm. Compared with the material obtained by sol-gel method, the Y2MoO6:Eu prepared using solid state method showed much stronger red emission under the n-UV excitation. The broad excitation bands are assigned to charge transfer (CT) bands originating from the ligands (O) to the central ions Mo6+. About 12nm shift of excitation bands in Y2MoO6:Eu was found. With a decrease of the crystalline size, the excitation bands of O-Mo CT shift to the short wavelength. The origin of CT shift in macromaterial Y2MoO6:Eu was investigated quantitatively from the chemical bond viewpoint. All constituent chemical bonds in the crystal with or without oxygen vacancy were considered. The changes of average energy gap of the chemical bond Mo-O and the environmental factor (he) surrounding Mo6+ ions in the crystals were discussed quantitatively. Calculated results from two different methods analysis specifications showed that the origin of CT blue-shifts mainly come from the vacancies of O6 sites within the crystals.

DNA 분석을 통한 한우 , 연변황우 및 화우의 유전적 특성

        신원집,여정수,김재우,신수길,정진우,이지홍 한국축산학회 1999 한국축산학회지 Vol.41 No.4

This study was conducted to identify the genetic parameters and genetic relationships among 3 cattle breeds of Hanwoo (Korea), Yanbian yellow cattle (China), and Wagyu (Japan). DNA fingerprinting was prepared using M13 probe and Pst 1 enzyme. Genetic homogencities of Hanwoo and Yanbian yellow cattle were comparatively lower than that of Wagyu, suggesting genetic improvement by active breeding program for Wagyu compared to Hanwoo and Yanbian yellow cattle and possibility of improvement capacity for Hanwoo and Yanbian yellow cattle. Genetic similarities between breeds were not significantly different among them, suggesting that these 3 breeds have been raised independently without any inflow or outflow of gene source for a while.

Effects of Chromium Supplementation and Lipopolysaccharide Injection on Physiological Responses of Weanling Pigs

        Lee, D.N.,Weng, C.F.,Yen, H.T.,Shen, T.F.,Chen, B.J. Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2000 Animal Bioscience Vol.13 No.4

Sixteen specific pathogen free 4-wk-old crossbred weanling pigs were allotted into a $2{\times}2$ factorial design to evaluate chromium picolinate (CrPic) on growth and physiological responses. Two factors included (1) no Cr or 400 ppb Cr supplementation from chromium picolinate and (2) lipopolysaccharide (LPS) injection on day 21 (d 21) and 35 (d 35) compared to saline application. Plasma samples and rectal temperature were obtained from all piglets before (h 0) and at 2 h (h 2), 4 h (h 4), 8 h (h 8), and 24 h (h 24) after LPS injection ($200{\mu}g/kg$ BW, intraperitoneally). The rectal temperature on d 21 was significantly decreased (p<0.05) of about $0.36^{\circ}C$ with Cr supplementation before LPS injection. After LPS injection, the daily gain of piglets was decreased during d 35-38. Supplementation of Cr had no effect in general on growth performance particularly after LPS injection. The plasma glucose, triglycerides and urea nitrogen concentrations were changed in different ways after LPS injection. Plasma cortisol level was significantly elevated at h 2 after LPS injection on d 21 and d 35. The supplementation of Cr in the diet can delayed plasma cortisol release on d 35. The results suggest that 400 ppb Cr supplementation from CrPic may modulate the physiological response during immune stress in weanling pigs.

Effects of Chromium Supplementation and Lipopolysaccharide Injection on the Immune Responses of Weanling Pigs

        Lee, D.N.,Shen, T.F.,Yen, H.T.,Weng, C.F.,Chen, B.J. Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2000 Animal Bioscience Vol.13 No.10

Sixteen specific pathogen free 4-wk-old crossbred weanling pigs were allotted into a $2{\times}2$ factorial experiment to evaluate the effects of chromium (Cr) on the immune responses after lipopolysaccharide (LPS) injection. Two factors included (1) no Cr or 400 ppb Cr supplementation from chromium picolinate (CrPic) and (2) LPS injection ($200{\mu}g/kg$ BW, intraperitoneally) on day 21 (d 21) and 35 (d 35) as compared with saline application. Plasma samples were obtained from all piglets before (0 h) and at 2 h, 4 h, 8 h, and 24 h after LPS injection. The changes in tumor necrosis $factor-{\alpha}$ ($TNF-{\alpha}$) and leukocyte populations after LPS injection were not significant on d 21. On d 35, the plasma $TNF-{\alpha}$ level was increased at h 2 postinjection, and supplemental Cr reduced the $TNF-{\alpha}$ level. The leukocyte populations had changed profoundly and lymphocyte subsets of $CD2^+$ and $CD8^+$ were reduced at 8 h postinjection. The blood granulocytes were increased and the percentage of $CD2^+$ was reduced in the Cr-fed group on d 35. Furthermore, Cr supplementation decreased the blastogensis of concanavalin A-stimulated peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) on d 21. These results suggest that 400 ppb Cr supplementation from CrPic in diets may modulate the immune responses in weanling pigs during LPS injection.
