고랭지 농업 용수확보를 위한 소규모 빗물 이용시설 적용방안

최근 기후변화로 지난 2009년과 2012년에 강원도 태백시에서는 가뭄으로 인하여 엄청난 피해를 경험한 적이 있다. 또한 가뭄과 장마의 예측은 점점 더 어려워져 가는 실정이다. 특히 태백시의 87일간의 가뭄과 제한급수에 따른 피해액은 일상생활 134억원, 산업부문 338억원, 공공부문 47억원, 정신적ㆍ사회적 피해 1, 430억원 등 총 1, 949억원에 달하는 것으로 분석되었다. 태백시에 또 다른 큰 문제점은 가뭄으로 인한 고랭지 농업 피해로 인한 손실이다. 고랭지 배추를 생산하는 태백시는 우리나라 유일의 고산지역의 도시로서, 고랭지 농업이 특히 발달한 지역이다. 특히 태백 고랭지 배추는 태백시 농산품의 95.9%, 총 경지면적의 86.6%를 차지하고 있으므로, 배추의 생산성이 태백시 농산품 생산성을 대변한다고 할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 태백시의 공공기관과 고랭지 농업 지역을 직접 방문하여 소규모 빗물 이용 시설에 대한 현황조사 및 시설의 상태를 점검하고 가뭄발생시 고랭지 농업지역의 피해를 최소화 할 수 있도록 소규모 빗물 이용 시설의 적용 방안 및 효과를 분석하였다. Recently, drought and rainy season are getting more serious. It is getting hard to forecast about drought because drought frequency is getting shorter than before. In 2009(winter) and 2012(summer), Taebaek-si was suffered from enormous damage due to the drought. Particularly, in 2009, cost of damage due to drought and restriction on water supply for 87days were estimated daily life sector 134 billion won, industry sector 338 billion won, the public sector 47 billion won, mental and social damage 1, 430 billion won. The other big issue of Taebaek is decrease in products of Highland Agricultural caused by the drought. Highland chinese cabbage which is the most important agricultural product in Taebaek-si account for 95.9% of all agricultural production of Taebaek-si and account for 86.6% of all gross area. For this reason, chinese cabbage of Taebaek-si is tropical agricultural product and is in charge of supply cabbage definitely. It is considered that if small scale rainwater harvesting system would be installed in highland agriculture area, it could reduce damage of drought at low cost and damage of cabbage would be decrease by system. For this study, We have researched regarding current status of Small Scale Rainwater Harvesting System of Highland Agriculture area in Taebaek-si and have compared with the amount of damage and installation cost in case of drought for the beneficial effects of Small Scale Rainwater Harvesting System, flexible supply of water and damage minimization of agricultural products.

<P>Endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress transducers, such as old astrocyte specifically induced substance (OASIS) and activating transcription factor 6 (ATF6), which are induced by bone morphogenetic protein 2 (BMP2), regulate bone formation and osteoblast differentiation. Here, we examined the role of cAMP response element-binding protein H(CREBH), a member of the same family of ER membrane-bound basic leucine zipper (bZIP) transcription factors as OASIS and ATF6, in osteoblast differentiation and bone formation. Proinflammatory cytokine TNF alpha increased CREBH expression by up-regulating the nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-kappa B) signaling pathway in osteoblasts, increased the level of N-terminal fragment of CREBH in the nucleus, and inhibited BMP2 induction of osteoblast specific gene expression. Overexpression of CREBH suppressed BMP2-induced up-regulation of the osteogenic markers runt-related transcription factor 2 (Runx2), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), and osteocalcin (OC) in MC3T3-E1 cells and primary osteoblasts, as well as BMP2-induced ALP activity and OC protein production. In contrast, knockdown of CREBH attenuated the inhibitory effect of TNF alpha on BMP2-induced osteoblast differentiation. Mechanistic studies revealed that CREBH increased the expression of Smad ubiquitination regulatory factor 1 (Smurf1), leading to ubiquitin-dependent degradation of Smad1, whereas knock-down of CREBH inhibited TNF alpha-mediated degradation of Smad1 by Smurf1. Consistent with these in vitro findings, administration of Ad-CREBH inhibited BMP2-induced ectopic and orthotopic bone formation in vivo. Taken together, these results suggest that CREBH is a novel negative regulator of osteoblast differentiation and bone formation.</P>
Application of a rocket-borne UV radiometer onboard KSR-III for O3 measurements

KSR-III, the third Korean Sounding Rocket, was launched successfully at Anheung, Korea on Nov. 28, 2002. One of the scientic missions of KSR-III was to measure the stratospheric ozone density prole by using an onboard four-channel UV radiometer. The apogee of the rocket was 42.8 km, and the total ight time was 231 s. The UV radiometer onboard the KSR-III measured the attenuation of solar radiation during ascending phase to obtain a vertical prole of the ozone density. The detector has UV channels centered at 255, 290, and 310 nm and a visible channel at 450 nm for attitude reference. Because the measurement of the solar radiation depends on the response function of the sensor, calibrations of interference lters and phototubes must be done. The optical calibration system consists of a monochromator, an optical power meter, light detectors, standard light sources, a control PC, and data acquisition software. The application of the rocketborne UV radiometer onboard the KSR-III to the ozone measurement are presented together with the calibration results from the integrated calibration system at the Korea Aerospace Research Institute. Using the calibration results and the in-situ measurement data, we obtained the ozone number density prole, and compared with other measurements.

Background/aims Assessment of exercise capacity in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is important. Although the incremental shuttle walking test (ISWT) has many strengths, it has not yet been widely introduced in clinical settings. The aim of our study was to investigate the validity and reliability of ISWT, analyzing the correlation between the distance of 6-minute walking test (6MWT) and the peak oxygen consumption (VO2) of cardiopulmonary exercise test (CPET) in patients with COPD. Methods This was a prospective observational correlation study. Patients with COPD were recruited between May 2020 and December 2020 from two hospitals. Three assessments (ISWT, 6MWT, and CPET) were performed with 2-day intervals for all patients. Pearson’s correlation was used for all correlation analyses. The ISWT and 6MWT were repeated twice in Hospital 1 (UUH) to evaluate reliability using intraclass correlation coefficients (ICCs). Results A total of 15 patients were enrolled from Hospital 1 (UUH), and 14 patients were enrolled from Hospital 2 (AMC). Both the distances of the ISWT and 6MWT were significantly correlated with the peak VO2 with Pearson’s r of 0.782 (p<0.001) and 0.512 (p=0.005), respectively. The ICC of both ISWT and 6MWT was high: ISWT with 0.988 (95% CI: 0.965-0.996, p<0.001) and 6MWT with 0.959 (95% CI: 0.871-0.987, p<0.001), respectively. Conclusion The ISWT showed a higher correlation with the peak VO2 than the 6MWT and had excellent test-retest reliability in COPD patients. The ISWT can be considered a useful alternative to the CPET to evaluate the exercise capacity.
