The spread of plasmid-mediated colistin resistance has posed a serious threat to public health owing to its effects on the emergence of pandrug-resistant bacteria. In this study, we investigated the prevalence and characteristics of mcr-1-positive Escherichia coli isolated from retail meat samples in Korea. In total, 1,205 E. coli strains were isolated from 3,234 retail meat samples in Korea. All E. coli strains were subjected to antimicrobial susceptibility testing and were examined for the presence of mcr-1 gene. All mcr-1-positive E. coli (n = 10, 0.8%) from retail meat were subjected to pulse-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) and whole-genome sequencing (WGS). The transferability of mcr-1 gene was determined by conjugation assays. The mcr-1-positive strains exhibited diverse clonal types. Our mcr-1 genes were located in plasmids belonged to the IncI2 (n = 1) and IncX4 (n = 8) types, which were reported to be prevalent in Asia and worldwide, respectively. Most mcr-1 genes from mcr-1-positive strains (9/10) were transferable to the recipient strain and the transfer frequencies ranged from 2.4 × 10<sup>-3</sup> to 9.8 × 10<sup>-6</sup>. Our data suggest that the specific types of plasmid may play an important role in spreading plasmid-mediated colistin resistance in Korea. Furthermore, our findings suggest that the retail meat may be an important tool for disseminating plasmid-mediated colistin resistance.

미래에는 생활환경 주변에 다양한 용도의 대형 디스플레이 장치가 설치되고 사용자들에게 편리한 상호작용적인 서비스를 제공할 것으로 예측된다. 그러나 대형 디스플레이는 그 물리적 크기 때문에 기존의 마우스와 키보드와 같은 장치로는 효과적인 사용자 인터랙션이 쉽지 않다. 최근 이런 대형 디스플레이를 위한 인터랙션 방법에 대해 많은 연구가 수행되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 타일드 디스플레이 기반의 인터랙티브 응용프로그램 개발을 지원하는 iTILE 프레임워크와 이를 활용하여 테이프 스위치와 적외선 카메라 텐저블 인터페이스 입력장치를 사용한 응용프로그램에 대해 기술한다. There will be many large displays in common public places, and we expect that these displays will give users many convenient interactive services. However, due to the physical size, typical mouse and keyboard are not suitable for user interactions on large displays. Recently there are many studies investigating on new interaction techniques and input devices developed for user interactions in a large display. In this paper, we describe the iTILE framework designed to help develop the interactive tiled display applications. Then we describe two iTILE applications using the tape switch interface and the tangible interface with infrared camera and markers.

This study was to investigate the prevalence and characteristics of antimicrobial-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) from 4,264 retail meat samples including beef, pork, and chicken in Korea between 2013 and 2018. A broth microdilution antimicrobial susceptibility testing was performed for S. aureus. Molecular typing by multilocus sequence typing (MLST), spa typing, and pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE), was performed on mecA-positive S. aureus strain. S. aureus was isolated at a rate of 18.2% (777/4,264), of which MRSA comprised 0.7% (29 strains). MLST analysis showed that 11 out of the 29 MRSA isolates were predominantly sequence type (ST) 398 (37.9%). In addition, ST72, ST692, ST188, ST9, and ST630 were identified in the MRSA isolates. The spa typing results were classified into 11 types and showed a high correlation with MLST. The antimicrobial resistance assays revealed that MRSA showed 100% resistance to cefoxitin and penicillin. In addition, resistance to tetracycline (62.1%), clindamycin (55.2%), and erythromycin (55.2%) was relatively high; 27 of the 29 MRSA isolates exhibited multidrug resistance. PFGE analysis of the 18 strains excluding the 11 ST398 strains exhibited a maximum of 100% homology and a minimum of 64.0% homology. Among these, three pairs of isolates showed 100% homology in PFGE; these results were consistent with the MLST and spa typing results. Identification of MRSA at the final consumption stage has potential risks, suggesting that continuous monitoring of retail meat products is required.
Development of Mine Detection System for Mobile Robot System

This paper introduces a development process of a manipulator that is installed to a mobile robot system and used to detect explosive ordnance and dispose it. Based on system requirements, its boundary conditions are analyzed and the minimum driving ranges and RPMs of each joint are calculated. To choose the optimum actuators including reduction ratio’ of the gearbox, the advanced Straete et al.’ normalization method is used after conducting dynamic analysis. Two kinds of dynamic analyses are executed to confirm the result, one is MATLAB’ SimMechanics and the other one is PRO-Engineer’ Mechanism. Finally, structural analysis is conducted to verify the robustness of the designed system.
