Korean bullhead (Pseudobagrus fulvidraco) was collected from the Kum River areas of Kangkyung-eup,Nonsan city, Chungcheongnam-do, Korea, from April to June, 2012 and was fertilized in order to observe egg development and temperature-related cleavage rates and mitotic intervals (τ0). The fertilized eggs were separative, demersal and light yellowish with 1.5±0.06 mm in diameter, and did not contain oil globules. The first cleavage stages were 90 min, 80 min,60 min and 50 min at 21℃, 24℃, 27℃ and 30℃, respectively. At higher temperatures, eggs developed faster and underwent further identical development. For Korean bullhead, τ0 were 33.4±2.08 min at 21℃, 31.5±3.06 min at 24℃, 28.1±2.11 min at 27℃ and 26.4±3.35 min at 30℃. There were strong negative correlations between the τ0 and water temperatures at all points studied (Y=-1.13X+58.15, R^2=0.98, n=30, where Y is τ0 and X is temperature). The results obtained in this work will be helpful for chromosome manipulation by use of cleavage frequency data and τ0 data in Korean bullhead.
Wireless safety monitoring of a water pipeline construction site using LoRa communication

Despite efforts to reduce unexpected accidents at confined construction sites, choking accidents continue to occur. Because of the poorly ventilated atmosphere, particularly in long, confined underground spaces, workers are subject to dangerous working conditions despite the use of artificial ventilation. Moreover, the traditional monitoring methods of using portable gas detectors place safety inspectors in direct contact with hazardous conditions. In this study, a long-range (LoRa)-based wireless safety monitoring system that features the network organization, fault-tolerant, power management, and a graphical user interface (GUI) was developed for underground construction sites. The LoRa wireless data communication system was adopted to detect hazardous gases and oxygen deficiency within a confined underground space with adjustable communication range and low power consumption. Fault tolerance based on the mapping information of the entire wireless sensor network was particularly implemented to ensure the reliable operation of the monitoring system. Moreover, a sleep mode was implemented for the efficient power management. The GUI was also developed to control the entire safety-monitoring system and to manage the measured data. The developed safety-monitoring system was validated in an indoor testing and at two full-scale water pipeline construction sites.

Background/Aims: The negative effects on the eradication success of Helicobacter pylori infection after previous exposure to macrolides, including clarithromycin on clarithromycin-based first-line therapy have been demonstrated. However, whether this is true for metronidazole-based second-line quadruple therapy remains unclear. We investigated the relationship between past administration of metronidazole and the failure of metronidazole-based second-line quadruple therapy in patients with H. pylori infection. Methods: Patients over 20 years of age who were diagnosed with H. pylori infection between January 1998 and March 2016 were enrolled in this study. The relationship between the clinical parameters and the results of a C13-urea breath test after metronidazole-based second-line quadruple therapy was analyzed in patients for whom clarithromycin-based triple therapy failed to eradicate H. pylori. Results: The H. pylori eradication failure rate was significantly higher in patients with a history of metronidazole use than in patients without a history of metronidazole use (p = 0.011). Multivariable analysis showed that the odds ratio of previous metronidazole use for eradication failure was 3.468 (95% confidence interval, 1.391 to 8.649; p = 0.008). In the subgroup analysis of patients with a history of metronidazole use, the duration of metronidazole use and interval between its use and eradication therapy did not significantly affect H. pylori eradication failure. Conclusions: Previous exposure to metronidazole was a significant risk factor for treatment failure of metronidazole-based second-line quadruple therapy; therefore, this should be considered when establishing a treatment strategy for patients with H. pylori infection.

<P>Two new α-pyrones, dothideopyrones E (<B>1</B>) and F (<B>2</B>), were isolated from a culture of the endolichenic fungus <I>Dothideomycetes</I> sp. EL003334. Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic data analysis. Their absolute configurations were established by the modified Mosher’s method. Compound <B>2</B> inhibited nitric oxide (NO) production with IC<SUB>50</SUB> values of 15.0 ± 2.8 μM in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced BV2 cells. Compound <B>2</B> diminished the protein expression levels of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2). Additionally, <B>2</B> decreased the mRNA expression levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin (IL)-1β, and IL-6.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>

The supplier selection problem is perhaps the most important component of the purchasing function. Some of the common and influential criteria in the selection of a supplier include quality, price, delivery, and service. These evaluation criteria often conflict, however, and it is frequently impossible to find a supplier that excels in all areas. In addition, some of the criteria are quantitative and some are qualitative. Thus, a methodology is needed that can capture both subjective and objective evaluation measures. The Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP) is a decision-making method for ranking alternative courses of action when multiple criteria must be considered. This paper proposes the AHP-based approach which can structure the supplier selection process and the achievements-based procedure which can allocate order quantities for the selected suppliers in automotive part manufacturers. Also, Through the practical case of 'D' automotive part manufacturing company, we shows that the proposed AHP based supplier selection approach and the achievements-based allocation procedure of order quantity can be successfully applied for supplier selection and order quantity allocation problems.
