A Scheduling Problem of Manufacturing Two Types of Components at a Two-machine Pre-assembly Stage

This paper analyses a deterministic scheduling problem concerned with manufacturing two types of components at a pre-assembly stage which consists of two independent feeding machines each producing its own type of component. Each type represents a unique component which may have variations in its size or quality. Therefore, the completion time of each component depends on both its type and quality (size) variations. Such maunfactured components are subsequently assembled into various component-dependent products. The problem has the objective measure of minimizing the total weighted completion time of a finite number of jobs(products) where the completion time of each job is measured by the latest completion time of its two components at the pre-assembly stage. The problem is shown to be NP-complete in the strong sense. A WSPT rule coupled with a machine-aggregation idea is developed for good heuristics which show the error bound of 2.
Connectivity Analysis for Redundant-path Multistage Interconnection Networks

본 논문에서는 부가경로를 가지는 다단계 상호연결망에서 단위스위치의 고장에 따른 망의 성능저하를 특성화 하기 위해 상호연결성 척도를 평가한다. 고려된 세가지 연결성 척도는 상호 연결 가능한 평균 입출력 쌍의 수, 최소한 한 개 이상의 축력으로 연결 가능한 평균 입력의 수, 그리고 한 개 이상의 출력과 연결된 입력으로부터 실제 연결 가능한 평균 출력의 수이다. 본 논문에서는 Omega망에 부가경로를 부여한 확장 Delta망에 대해 제시된 세가지 연결성 척도의 근사적인 도출방안을 제안하고 이를 기존에 도출된 단일경로 Omega망, 단순부가경로 Delta망과 수치적 실험을 통해 비교한다.
PRODUCTION/DELIVERY SCHEDULING IN A TWO-STAGE SUPPLY CHAIN

This paper considers an integrated scheduling problem for consecutive production and delivery stages in a two-stage supply chain. The production is performed on a single facility and then the finished products are delivered to the customer by capacitated multiple vehicles. The objective is to find out a coordinated schedule of production and delivery for minimizing the total cost of WIP inventory, finished product inventory and delivery, where both inventory costs are characterized by weighted flowtime and the delivery cost is proportional to the required number of delivery batches. We prove that a general version of the problem is NPcomplete in the strong sense. Then, we derive two heuristic algorithms based on dynamic programming and Lagrangian relaxation, respectively.

This paper proposes a real-time resource allocation algorithm for minimizing the completion time of overall workflow process. The jobs in a workflow process are interrelated through the precedence graph including Sequence, AND, OR and Loop control structure. A resource should be allocated for the processing of each job, and the required processing time of the job can be varied by the resource allocation decision. Each resource has several inherent restrictions such as the functional, geographical, positional and other operational characteristics. The algorithm suggested in this paper selects an effective resource for each job by considering the precedence constraint and the resource characteristics such as processing time and the inherent restrictions. To investigate the performance of the proposed algorithm, several numerical tests are performed for four different workflow graphs including standard, parallel and two series-parallel structures. In the tests, the solutions by the proposed algorithm are compared with random and optimal solutions which are obtained by a random selection rule and a full enumeration method respectively.

The objective of this paper is to evaluate the equilibrium price between PSTN and VoIP telephony services in the case of non-linear utility function. Currently there are two types of wired phone service we are known that PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network) and VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol). The PSTN telephony which provide high quality service and VoIP which provide relatively low quality service forms a vertically differentiated oligopoly. Therefore, the evaluation of the equilibrium price between PSTN and VoIP services is very important to wired phone service providers. The equilibrium price depends on the state of the service cost function has been proved different value. This paper was evaluated each equilibrium price for the state of the linear cost function and non-linear cost function. Subsequently, analyzed the demand of both services and the equilibrium profit which can maximize the profit of both service providers.

This paper considers the simultaneously firing model for the artillery operations. The objective of this paper is to find the optimal fire sequence minimizing the final completion time of the firing missions of multiple artillery units for multiple targets. In the problem analysis, we derive several solution properties to reduce the solution space. Moreover, two lower bounds of objective are derived and tested along with the derived properties within a branch-and-bound scheme. Two efficient heuristic algorithms are also developed. The overall performances of the proposed branch-and-bound and heuristic algorithms are evaluated through various numerical experiments.

현재 6시그마 대한 연구는 실증연구보다는 기술적인 분석을 통한 연구들이 많이 진행되고 있다. 또한 대부분의 6시그마 관련 실증연구들이 성공요인을 추출하거나, 추출된 요인이 기업성과에 유의한지 여부만을 조사하는데 그치고 있으며, 성공요인들의 중요도 및 우선순위를 객관화하는 연구는 아직 미흡하다. 본 연구에서는 기존문헌에서 추출된 성공요인들을 대표적인 요인으로 축소하고, 축소된 성공요인들 간의 중요도 및 우선순위를 계층적 분석방법(AHP: Analysis Hierarchy Process)을 활용하여 분석하고자 한다. 본 연구에서는 6시그마 성공요인을 크게 조직문화, 경영전략, 운영방법, 지원체계로 구분하고 이들에 대한 각 평가요소와 그 하위 평가요소를 계층적으로 구조화하여 이들의 상대적 중요도를 측정하였다. 또한 6시그마 실행 주체별, 업종별, 기업의 규모별, 벨트 종류별로 차이를 분석함으로써 6시그마를 도입 또는 추진 중인 기업들에게 성공을 위한 기초자료를 제공하는데 연구의 의의를 찾을 수 있다. 연구 결과, 컨설턴트는 기업전략과의 연계성을, 내부전문가는 성과에 대한 평가 및 보상이 가장 중요하다고 평가함으로써 두 집단간에 차이가 있음을 밝혔다. 또한 제조업 업종간의 비교, 대기업과 중소기업간의 비교, 제조업과 서비스업, MBB와 BB, 시행기간별 비교에 따른 중요도 분석을 실시함으로써 6시그마 성공요인의 중요도 및 우선순위에 대한 다양한 정보를 제공하고자 한다. Until now there are a lot of researches and literatures about successful factors of 6 Sigma. However, most of researches are to extract successful factors or investigating whether successful factors are notable or not to company. There is hardly study to analyze the importance and priority order of successful factors for 6 Sigma. The object of this paper is to grasp priority order of successful factors to get successful results for company which want to introduce 6 Sigma or introduced already. Second object is to find out successful factors that company shall apply according to the driving people, external consultant or inner expert as BB and MBB, proceeding with 6 Sigma. Third object is to compare to by scales of company and by type of business about successful factors and present proper factors to be exposed to company. As the results of the analysis, consultants said that factor to be most important in 6 Sigma is ‘coordination to company strategy’. On the other hand, inner experts emphasized factor of ‘evaluation and reword for outcome’. And, we knew that there were also difference between electronic and car and oil·chemical industry, between large enterprise and medium small company. However there are no significant differences in comparison between manufacture and service industry, between BB and MBB, between not more than 3 years and more than 4 years.
