자연산 점몰개, Squalidus multimaculatus Hosoya et Jeon의 새인두흡충, Clinostomum complanatum (Rudolphi, 1814) 감염

경상북도 영덕군의 하천에 서식하는 점몰개 spotted barbel gudgeon (Squalidus multimaculatus Hosoya et Jeon)의 근육에서 새인두흡충 Clinostomum complanatum (Rudolphi, 1814)의 피낭유충이 발견되었다. 감염된 점몰개는 "yellow grub"인 기생충의 피낭유충으로 인해 표면이 울퉁불퉁하게 보였으며, 수면위에 힘없이 유영하였고 일부 폐사한 개체도 발견되었다. 분리된 탈낭유충의 형태는 혓바닥 모양이었으며, 크기는 2.85~5.89 mm×0.8~1.99 mm였다. 어체당 1~98 개의 피낭유충을 분리하였으며 평균 감염수는 25개로 나타났다. 특히, 성어크기인 평균 7 cm 정도의 점몰개는 100% 감염되어 있었다. 본 연구는 한국의 자연수계에 서식하는 어류에서 C. complanatum 의해 질병이 발생하고 폐사가 일어난 첫 보고이다. The metacercariae of Clinostomum complanatum (Rudolphi, 1814) were isolated in the whole body muscle of wild freshwater fish, spotted barbel gudgeon (Squalidus multimaculatus Hosoya et Jeon) from the local river in Yeongdeok, Gyeongsangbuk-do, Korea. The infected fish with bumpy body surface by "yellow grub" showed erratic swimming behavior and some fish were died. The isolated excysted metacercariae were tongue shaped and 2.85~5.89 mm × 0.8~1.99 mm in size. 1~98 metacercariae were isolated in individual fish and mean infection intensity was 25. All examined adult spotted barbel gudgeon sizing 7 cm in body length were infected. This is the first report of disease outbreak and mortality caused by C. complanatum infection in wild freshwater fish in Korea.

목적:발작의 분류는 발작의 원인, 예후를 추정하거나 항경련제를 선택하는 데 있어 매우 중요하며 뇌파검사는 발작의 종류를 구분하고 적절한 치료를 하기 위해 시행하는 중요한 검사이다. 저자들은 소아에서 임상적 발작이 확실한 경우 간질발작의 임상양상과 뇌파검사 간의 일치 정도를 알아보고자 한다. 방법:2000년 1월 1일부터 2008년 9월 30일까지 1회 이상의 간질발작을 주소로 가천의대 길병원 소아청소년과에 방문한 환자 중 본원에서 처음으로 뇌파검사를 시행한 환자를 대상으로 하였다. 발작의 임상양상은 목격자와 본인의 설명을 기록한 의무기록지를 기준으로 하여 부분발작과 전신발작으로 분류하였고 뇌파검사는 발작간간질양방전을 기준으로 정상과 비정상으로 분류하였으며 각성과 수면상태 모두에서 시행하였다. 결과:총 461명의 환자의 뇌파검사 시의 평균 연령은 6.7세였고 남자는 247명, 여자는 214명이었다. 전체 환자에서 발작의 임상양상은 부분발작이 310명, 전신발작이 187명이었다. 각성뇌파검사에서 비정상은 158명으로 부분발작파가 118명, 전신발작파가 59명, 두 가지 발작파가 한 환자에서 나온 경우가 19명이었고, 수면뇌파검사에서는 비정상이 239명으로 부분발작파가 196명, 전신발작파가 77명, 두 가지 발작파가 한 환자에서 나온 경우가 34명이었으며 전체 환자에서는 비정상이 273명으로 부분발작파가 216명, 전신발작파가 97명, 두 가지 발작파가 한 환자에서 나온 경우가 40명이었다. 간질증후군은 전체 환자 중 90명에서 관찰되었다. 146명(41.5%)의 부분발작과 44명(23.4%)의 전신발작 및 79명(87.8 %)의 간질증후군이 뇌파소견과 일치하였다. 결론:영유아 및 소아에 있어 발작을 진단할 때에는 발작양상 분 아니라 정확한 뇌파소견을 세심하게 고려하여야 한다. Purpose:Electroencephalography(EEG) is an essential method carried out for classifying seizures and taking appropriate treatment. The aim of this study is to investigate the concordance between clinical findings of epileptic seizures and EEG in children. Methods:We enrolled 461 patients from those who visited Gil hospital from January 1, 2000 to September 30, 2008 with the chief complaint of epileptic seizure more than once and checked their first EEG at the same hospital. The clinical findings of seizure were based on the charts and interictal waking and sleep EEGs were done. Results:The mean age of the patients was 6.7 years old. 497 epileptic seizures occurred and its clinical finding included 310 of partial seizures and 187 of generalized seizures. In 315 waking EEG 158 were abnormal including 118 of partial seizures, 59 of generalized seizures and 19 of both seizures, in 431 sleep EEG 239 were abnormal including 196 of partial seizures, 77 of generalized seizures and 34 of both seizures, and in waking and/or sleep EEG 273 were abnormal including 216 of partial seizures, 97 of generalized seizures and 40 of both seizures. Epileptic syndromes were observed in 90 patients. 146(41.5%) of partial seizures, 44(23.4%) of generalized seizures, and 79(87.8%) of epileptic syndromes accorded with EEG. Conclusion:When diagnosing seizures in children, we must consider not only clinical findings but also accurate EEG findings.

The antioxidative activity of various enzymatic extracts from leaves of Perilla frutescens var. japonica was evaluated by measuring 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH), hydroxyl, and alkyl radical scavenging activity using an electron spin resonance (ESR) spectrometer. For this study, the leaves were enzymatically hydrolyzed by 8 carbohydrases (Dextrozyme, AMG, Promozyme, Maltogenase, Termamyl, Viscozyme, Celluclast, and BAN) and 9 proteases [Flavourzyme, Neutrase, Protamex, Alcalase, PP-trypsin (trypsin from porcine pancreas), papain, pepsin, α-chymotrypsin, and BP-trypsin (trypsin from bovine pancreas)]. The DPPH radical scavenging activities of Promozyme and Alcalase extracts were the highest, and the IC<sub>50</sub> values were 77.25 and 109.66 μg/mL, respectively. All enzymatic extracts of the leaves scavenged hydroxyl radical, and the IC<sub>50</sub> values of Celluclast and pepsin extracts which were the highest activity were 243.34 and 241.86 μg/mL, respectively. The BAN and α-chymotrypsin extracts showed the highest scavenging activities, and the IC<sub>50</sub> values were 21.13 and 33.23 μg/mL, respectively. The pepsin extracts from the leaves showed protective effect on H<sub>2</sub>O<sub>2</sub>-induced DNA damage. In addition, the pepsin extracts decreased cell death in PC-12 cells against H<sub>2</sub>O<sub>2</sub>-induced oxidative damage. The findings of the present study suggest that enzymatic extracts of the leaves possess antioxidative activity.
Anticancer Effect of Lipids Partially Purified from Pacific Oyster, Crassostrea gigas on PC3 Cells

The objective of this study was to determine the anticancer effects of the Pacific oyster (Crassostrea gigas)in vitro. For this study, the lipid extracts of C. gigas were prepared using several organic solvents: methanol,chloroform, hexane, methanol:chloroform=1:1, chloroform:hexane=1:1. The anticancer activity of the extracts was evaluated using cell cycle and apoptosis assays analyzed by a flow cytometry. Of all the extracts, the hexane extracts exhibited the highest anticancer activity compared to the other extracts. The hexane extracts were further separated and purified using thin layer chromatography. The final isolated lipid compounds were identified their components as palmitic acid, margaric acid, and stearic acid. These results indicate that this combination of lipids effectively inhibit in vitro human prostate tumor growth by inducing apoptosis of cancer cells.

A numerical simulation study of a virtual cathode oscillator with an annular cathode has been performed by using a 3-dimensional particle-in-cell (PIC) code called MAGIC. Also, experimental studies are performed for comparison with the numerical results. The annular diode consists of a circular anode mesh and an annular cathode. The object of this investigation is to nd the optimized width and radius of an annular cathode in our high power microwave pulser, \Chundoong". Both the simulation and the experimental results show that the output microwave power and frequency depend on the annular cathode width and radius and that the dominant mode of output microwaves is TM01 under an optimized width of 4 mm and radius of 20 mm.

We have investigated an eciency enhancement of high-power microwave generation from a cylindrical virtual cathode oscillator by adopting a ring-type re ector. This high-power microwave generator is powered by the \Chundoong" intense relativistic electron beam pulser (Max: 600 kV, 88 kA and 60 ns duration). It is noted in this experiment that the maximum power can be obtained at a cylindrical A-K gap distance of 8 mm with a ring-type re ector width of 7 mm. The microwave frequency has been measured to be 4.8 5.1 GHz by using a combination of coupled line bandpass lters with a bandwidth of 1 GHz and a dispersive delay line method. In particular, in this experiment, the maximum microwave output power and eciency with the optimized ring-type re ector could be enhanced up to 426 MW and 7.1 %, respectively.
