A case of congenital agenesis of left lung of a 19-years-old female is presented in detail with some review of literature. She had been suffered from mild dyspnea on exertion since early childhood but she was been comfatable unti16 months ago, when frequent upper respiratory infection and dyspnea developed. From 10 days earlier, mild fever was associated and dyspnea on exertion was aggravated. Her past history and family history were not contributary. Physical examination revealed asymmetrical development of both thoracic cage and showed limited respiratory movement of left thorax. There were increased percussion dullness and absent breathing sounds over entire left lung field except left upper lung field. The cardiac dullness was shifted to the left and heart sunds were heard over the 4th ICS X MCL. A roentgenogram of the chest revealed shifting to the left of trachea and mediastinum, homosgenou increased density of left lung, hyperlucency of right lung, and T, hemivertebra, Bronchoscopy showed total absence of left main bronchus. Bronchogram revealed above findings too, but right main bronchus was intact. CT scan revealed agenesis of left lung and herniation of right lung to left hemithorax. Intravenous pyelography showed malrotation of kidney. Pulmonary angioram and cardiac catheterization showed unremarkable findings except total absence of left pulmonary artery.

To achieve the low temperature-high density transportation conditions of live fish, the optimal low temperature of live plaice, Paralichrhys olivaceus was investigated by the change of dissolved oxygen in the sea water and the survival times during storage at various temperatures. The changes of serum components (LDH and GPT), muscle components (lactate and ATP and to related compounds) and breaking strength in the muscle(were also studied during storage at the conditions of stress (5℃-10% and 50% density and recovery (18℃-5% density). The optimal temperature for the low temperature-high density transportation of live plaice was found to be 5℃. Serum components of live plaice gradually increased during storage under the condition of low temperature-high density, and these values then decreased to the initial levels after 6-1 0 hrs of storage time recovery condition. The level of lactate in the muscle gradually increased in stress conditions, and then these values also decreased in recovery condition. The ratios of ATP to ATP and its related compounds {ATP/(ATP+ADP+ AMP+IMP)}×100 in the muscle showed 42% after 18hrs storage in stress condition (5℃-50%). Otherwise, the ratios returned to their original levels within 6 hrs of storage time in recovery conditions. The level of breaking strength in the muscle was higher than initial levels up to 12 hrs storage, but these values were decreased to the original levels after 18 hrs storage time in stress conditions(5℃-50%).

A try was carried out to reduce lead time of die manufacturing. That is to make manual machining and finishing work time shorter by improving CAD/CAM modeling methods, so called with $quot;separate modeling$quot; and $quot;relief modeling$quot;. The manual machining and finishing manual work time were reduced adapting the novel CAD/CAM modeling methods. Ultimately we accomplished much reduction of the lead time of die manufacturing.

In this study, CV graphite cast iron was made from adding small amount of A1 after making an incomplete spheroidal graphite by adding small amount of Fesi-Mg alloy. As a result, it was found that CV ratio and graphite length were increased as increasing amount of Al addition and holding time, but graphite width was decreased, Also, it was found that brinell hardness value 170-190 HB and tensile strength value 38-40 ㎏/㎟ of the CV graphite cast iron were closer to those values of the spheroidal than those values of the flake graphite cast iron, but thermal diffusivity value 7.8×10^(-6)㎡/sec of the CV graphite cast iron was closer to that value of the flake than that value of the spheroidal graphite cast iron.

<P>2,6-Bis((4-hexylphenyl)ethynyl)-9,10-bis(phenylethynyl)anthracene, <B>4</B>, and 9,10-bis((4-hexylphenyl)ethynyl)-2,6-bis (phenyl ethynyl)anthracene, <B>5</B>, have been synthesized to study their electronic and photophysical properties. It should be noted that the difference between these compounds is the substitution position of 1-ethynyl-4-hexylbenzene groups into an anthracene ring. In particular, substitution in the 9,10-positions of the anthracene ring enhanced J-aggregated intermolecular interactions. AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON THE FORMATION OF SMOKE LAYER IN COMPARTMENT FIRE

Experiments have been performed to investigate the formation of smoke layer in case of several furniture fires such as trashcan, chair, carpet, sofa, mattress, and wardrobe in a residential room. As a result of the present investigation, the uniformly distributed fire of carpet showed that the ignition and the initial growth period were relatively short while the fully developed period was considerably long. The concentrated fires such as mattress and wardrobe showed that the ignition and the initial growth period were relatively long. The descending time of the interface heights was within 1-3 minutes to reach around 1m. However, the interface height was lowered to 0.25-0.75m above the floor at the time of the maximum temperature.

Three monophyletic branches are strongly supported in a phylogenetic analysis of the Teloschistaceae based on combined data sets of internal transcribed spacer and large subunit nrDNA and 12S small subunit mtDNA sequences. These are described as new monotypic genera: Jasonhuria S. Y. Kondr., L. Lokos et S. -O. Oh, Loekoesia S. Y. Kondr., S. -O. Oh et J. -S. Hur and Olegblumia S. Y. Kondr., L. Lokos et J. -S. Hur. Three new combinations for the type species of these genera are proposed.

<P>Background: The clinicopathological significance of oncofetal mRNA-binding protein, human insulin-like growth factor II mRNA-binding protein 3 (IMP3), in gastric carcinoma (GC) is not fully understood. Materials and Methods: Tissue microarray blocks with specimens from 346 patients with GC were constructed to evaluate the clinicopathological role of IMP3 expression in GC. These results were validated with an online dataset of 876 patients from the Kaplan-Meier Plotter. Sera from 15 controls and 57 patients with GC were collected in order to compare the levels of serum IMP3 between groups. Results: High expression of IMP3 was significantly associated with poor prognosis. Survival curves from the Kaplan-Meier Plotter showed that high IMP3 expression was significantly related to worse disease-free survival and overall survival. Conclusion: Tissue overexpression of IMP3 might be used as a predictor of advanced disease or lymph node metastasis, and is associated with poorer prognosis in GCs.</P>
