Arylazolyl(azinyl)thioacetanilide. Part 9#: Synthesis and Biological Investigation of Thiazolylthioacetamides Derivatives as a Novel Class of Potential Antiviral Agents

        Peng Zhan,Xinyong Liu,Liu Wang,Hong Liu,Xuwang Chen,Xiao Li,Xin Jiang,Qiangqiang Zhang,Christophe Pannecouque,Lieve Naesens,Erik De Clercq,Ailin Liu,Guanhua Du 대한약학회 2012 Archives of Pharmacal Research Vol.35 No.6

In continuation of our endeavor to develop new, potent, selective and less toxic antiviral agents, a novel series of 2-(2-amino/chloro-4-(2,4-dibromophenyl) thiazol-5-ylthio)acetamide derivatives was synthesized via an expeditious route and evaluated for their anti-HIV activities against wild-type virus and clinically relevant mutant strains, and for their anti-influenza virus activities against influenza A (H1N1 and H3N2) and influenza B in cellular assays. The selected active compounds were also assayed for their enzymic inhibitory activities. The results showed that some 2-chloro substituted thiazolylthioacetamide derivatives possessed potent activity against wild type HIV-1 and several key mutant strains (E138K, K103N, L100I) of HIV-1 in MT-4 cells with EC50 values in micromolar range. Two 2-amino substituted thiazole derivatives 8a7 and 8a8 displayed significant potency against influenza A/H1N1 in MDCK cells with EC50 values much lower than that of oseltamivir carboxylate, ribavirin, amantadine and rimantadine. Though the mechanism of actions is still unclear, these novel thiazolylthioacetamides might serve as original leads for further pharmacological investigations as potential therapeutic agents against HIV-1 or influenza virus.

H-형태 양친매성 펜타블록 공중합체의 화학효소적 합성과 자기회합거동 평가

        Peng Chen,Ya Peng Li,Can Jin Li,Xin Lei Meng,Bao Zhang,Ming Zhu,Yan-jing Liu,Jing Yuan Wang 한국고분자학회 2013 폴리머 Vol.37 No.3

H-shaped amphiphilic pentablock copolymers (PSt)2-b-PCL-b-PEO-b-PCL-b-(PSt)2 was synthesized via chemoenzymatic method by combining enzyme-catalyzed ring-opening polymerization (eROP) of ε-caprolactone (ε-CL) and atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) of styrene. By this process, we obtained copolymers with controlled molecular weight and low polydispersity. The structure and composition of the obtained copolymers were characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), gel permeation chromatography (GPC) and infrared spectroscopy analysis (IR). The crystallization behavior of the copolymers was analyzed by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The crystallization behavior of the H-shaped block copolymers demonstrated a PCL dominate crystallization. The self-assembly behavior of the copolymers was investigated in aqueous media. The hydrodynamic diameters of the copolymer micelles in aqueous solution were measured by dynamic light scattering (DLS). The morphology of the copolymer micelles was observed by atomic force microscopy (AFM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The hydrodynamic diameters of spherical micelles declined gradually with the increase of the hydrophobic chain lengths of the copolymers. The critical micelle concentration (CMC) values were determined from fluorescence emission, and it was found that the CMCs decreased with an increase of PSt hydrophobic block lengths.

Three cobalt-iron Prussian Blue Analogues (PBAs) nanotubes contained with different alkali metal cations of K, Rb or Cs, respectively, were prepared by using cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB)/ethanol-water micelles as soft templates. The products were characterized by energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and scanning electron micrograph (SEM), which confirmed the composition of the substances and their unique nanotube structures. Furthermore, the formation mechanism of the PBAs nanotubes was discussed and provided useful insight for further synthesis of nanotubes of other Prussian blue analogues.

      • New Insights into mTOR Signal Pathways in Ovarian-Related Diseases: Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and Ovarian Cancer

Liu, Ai Ling,Liao, Hong Qing,Li, Zhi Liang,Liu, Jun,Zhou, Cui Lan,Guo, Zi Fen,Xie, Hong Yan,Peng, Cui Ying Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2016 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.17 No.12

mTOR, the mammalian target of rapamycin, is a conserved serine/threonine kinase which belongs to the phosphatidyl-linositol kinase-related kinase (PIKK) family. It has two complexes called mTORC1 and mTORC2. It is well established that mTOR plays important roles in cell growth, proliferation and differentiation. Over-activation of the mTOR pathway is considered to have a relationship with the development of many types of diseases, including polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and ovarian cancer (OC). mTOR pathway inhibitors, such as rapamycin and its derivatives, can directly or indirectly treat or relieve the symptoms of patients suffering from PCOS or OC. Moreover, mTOR inhibitors in combination with other chemical-molecular agents may have extraordinary efficacy. This paper will discuss links between mTOR signaling and PCOS and OC, and explore the mechanisms of mTOR inhibitors in treating these two diseases, with conclusions regarding the most effective therapeutic approaches.

Noncoherent Relaying in Energy Harvesting Communication Systems

Peng Liu,Gazor, Saeed,Il-Min Kim,Dong In Kim IEEE 2015 IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS Vol.14 No.12

In energy harvesting (EH) relay networks, the coherent communication requires accurate estimation/tracking of the instantaneous channel state information (CSI) which consumes extra power. As a remedy, we propose two noncoherent EH relaying protocols based on the amplify-and-forward (AF) relaying, namely, power splitting noncoherent AF (PS-NcAF) and time switching noncoherent AF (TS-NcAF), which do not require any instantaneous CSI. We develop a noncoherent framework of simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT), embracing PS-NcAF and TS-NcAF in a unified form. For arbitrary M-ary noncoherent frequency-shift keying (FSK) and differential phase-shift keying (DPSK), we derive maximum-likelihood detectors (MLDs) for PS-NcAF and TS-NcAF in a unified form, which involves integral evaluations yet serves as the optimum performance benchmark. To avoid expensive integral computations, we propose a closed-form detector using the Gauss-Legendre approximation, which achieves almost identical performance as the MLD but at substantially lower complexity. These EH-based noncoherent detectors achieve full diversity in Rayleigh fading. Numerical results demonstrate that our proposed PS-NcAF and TS-NcAF may outperform the conventional grid-powered relay system under the same total power constraint. Various insights which are useful for the design of practical SWIPT relaying systems are obtained. Interestingly, PS-NcAF outperforms TS-NcAF in the single-relay case, whereas TS-NcAF outperforms PS-NcAF in the multi-relay case.
