Aeromonas hydrophila is a facultative, anaerobic gram-negative bacillus. It's a member of the family Vibrionaceae. Aeromonas, which is known to cause gastroenteritis and wound infections ranging from mild cellulitis to fulminant myonecrosis. It is responsible for opportunistic infections in patients with compromised immune function due to an underlying disease such as malignant hematological disorders, liver cirrhosis, and malignant neoplasm. We report a case of 72-year-old woman who recovered from necrotizing fasciitis caused by A. hydrophila. The patient had undergone prolonged hemodialysis and had no history of trauma.

The purpose of this study was to define the effect of Taekwondo gym Master Instructor's Transformational leadership on master's organizational justice and organizational performance and that of master's organizational justice on organizational performance. For the purpose, 300 masters of Taekwondo gyms located in Seoul and Gyeonggi area were selected as population, and total 300 respondents were sampled from the population. Then, 263 sheets were used for actual analysis. Exploratory factor analysis, reliability analysis and multiple regression analysis were applied to the collected data by using SPSS 12.0 program. Following results were extracted. First, Taekwondo gym Master Instructor's Transformational leadership had positive effects on master's organizational justice. Second, Taekwondo gym Master Instructor's Transformational leadership had positive effects on organizational performance. Third, master's organizational justice had positive effects on organizational performance.

Vibrio fluvialis is one of the non-cholera, halophilic, gram-negative bacterium that causes gastroenteritis. There have been a few reports of V. fluvialis infections worldwide. In the present report, one case of gastroenteritis caused by V. fluvialis which occurred in chronic liver disease patient in Korea is presented. This was a rare case of gastroenteritis caused by V. fluvialis in 39-years old man who had no history of seafood ingestion. He was admitted because of severe watery diarrhea and abdominal pain, and developed acute renal failure. The patient was improved after fluid and antibiotic therapy for 2 weeks.

<P>The complementary ZnO-Si nanocomposites were synthesized via facile solution process at room temperature and enhanced photoconductive switching behavior was observed under a white light irradiation. The morphology and atomic/electronic structure of ZnO-Si nanocomposites were investigated by atomic-resolution (scanning) transmission electron microscopy combined with electron energy loss spectroscopy. It is revealed that host ZnO nanorods contained peculiar nm-sized Si-rich phases on the ZnO surface, in which effective band gap was significantly decreased. Our results explain a collaborative interaction between host ZnO nanorods and Si-rich phase which led to an enhancement of photoconductive properties over as-prepared ZnO nanorod. <P>Urban particulate matter (UPM) exerts negative effects on various human organs. Transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) is a polymodal sensory transducer that can be activated by multiple noxious stimuli. This study aimed to explore the effects of the UPM 1648a on the expression of TRPV1, and its regulatory mechanisms in HaCaT cells. UPM enhanced TRPV 1 promoter-luciferase reporter activity. UPM also increased expression of the TRPV 1 gene as evidenced by increased mRNA and protein levels of TRPV 1. In addition, elucidation of the underlying mechanism behind the UPM-mediated effects on TRPV 1 expression revealed that UPM can upregulate expression of the TRPV1 gene by activating activator protein-1 (AP-1) and nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB). The UPM treatment also altered Ca2+ influx and cell proliferation, as well as production of interleukin-8 (IL-8), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), and interleukin-1β (IL-1β). In addition, these UPM-induced effects were attenuated by SB203580 and ammonium pyrrolidinedithiocarbamate (PDTC). However, SP600125 and PD98059 did not alter the UPM-induced effects. Taken together, these findings indicate that UPM upregulates expression of the TRPV 1 gene, which is mediated by the p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) and NF-κB signaling pathways and suggest that UPM is a potential irritant that can induce skin processes such as aging and inflammatory responses.</P>
