Fabrication of the Ti5Si3/Ti Composite Inoculants and Its Refining Mechanism on Pure Titanium

        Nuo Li,Chunxiang Cui,Shaungjin Liu,Long Zhao,Shuiqing Liu 대한금속·재료학회 2017 METALS AND MATERIALS International Vol.23 No.2

The in situ Ti5Si3/Ti inoculants were successfully prepared by vacuum arc-melting and melt-spinning method. An efficient route by adding a small quantity of Ti5Si3/Ti inoculants to Ti melt has been first proposed tomodify the coarse grains of as cast microstructure of pure titanium in this paper. It was found that themicrostructure of ribbon inoculants was cellular structure that composed of Ti5Si3 and α-Ti phases. Thegrain refining effect of the inoculants was significantly improved with the adding ratio range from 0.2% to0.5% in weight. With the increase of addition amount of inoculants on Ti melt, the tensile strength, yieldstrength and microhardness of pure titanium are significantly improved except elongation. The excellentgrain refining effect can be attributed to the heterogeneous nucleation of the titanium grain on the precipitatedTi5Si3 phases in the Si-rich regions and the constitutional supercooling of Si in the Si-poverty regions. It issuggested that the in situ Ti5Si3/Ti inoculants is a promising inoculants for titanium alloys.

        Xu, Na,Lei, Zhen,Li, Xiao-Long,Zhang, Jun,Li, Chen,Feng, Guo-Quan,Li, Di-Nuo,Liu, Jing-Yi,Wei, Qiang,Bian, Ting-Ting,Zou, Tian-Yu Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.1

Objectives: To explore the correlation between multi-slice spiral CT (MSCT) perfusion parameters and the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) as well as matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) in breast cancer. Methods: Forty five breast cancer patients and 16 patients with benign breast tumor, both confirmed by pathology examination, were enrolled. All underwent MSCT perfusion imaging to obtain perfusion maps and data for parameters including blood flow (BF), blood volume (BV) and permeability surface (PS). Cancer patients did not receive treatment prior to surgery. The expression of VEGF and MMP-2 were examined with both immunohistochemistry and Western blotting. Results: The levels of VEGF and MMP-2 by immunohistochemistry were significantly higher in the breast cancer group (P < 0.01) than the benign tumor group. Relative OD values from Western blotting were also higher in cancer cases (P < 0.05). Similarly, the mean MSCT perfusion parameters (BF, BV, PS) were significantly higher in the breast cancer group (P < 0.01), BF and BV positively correlating with VEGF expression (r = 0.878 and 0.809 respectively, P < 0.01); PS and VEGF and MMP-2 expression were also positively correlated (r= 0.860, 0.786 respectively, P < 0.01). Conclusion: There is a correlation between breast cancer MSCT perfusion parameters and VEGF andMMP-2 expression, which might be useful for detection of breast lesions, qualitative diagnosis of breast cancer, and evaluation of breast cancer treatment.

        A Multi-Mechanisms Composite Frequency Up-Conversion Energy Harvester

Ping Li,Nuo Xu,Chunhui Gao 한국정밀공학회 2020 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol.21 No.9

In this paper, a novel broadband hybrid piezoelectric-electromagnetic-electrostatic energy harvester with frequency up conversion is proposed to improve the harvesting bandwidth and energy conversion efficiency. The designed device generates vibration energy with much higher frequency than ambient vibration frequency, which uses the magnet to impact periodically on the piezoelectric cantilever with the top electrode of electrostatic element. The dynamic model of the hybrid energy harvester is established, and performances are experimental tested under the sinusoidal excitation and practical application environment. The results show that multi-mechanisms composite structure can realize the complementary advantages of electrostatic-piezoelectric-electromagnetic mechanisms and improve the energy conversion efficiency effectively compared with a single harvesting mechanism. The fabricated harvester can output electric energy in the frequency range of 1–38 Hz, which significantly reduces frequency dependence, and the maximum power is measured to be 11.7 mW and 12 mW during cycling and walking respectively, which is the sum of the power generated by three different elements. Furthermore, the fabricated prototype can also light up six light-emitting diodes (LEDs) simultaneously when handy shaking.

PF4V1 affects the progression of oral squamous cell carcinoma by regulating Wnt/ β‑catenin pathway and angiogenesis

        Cuiping Li,Weidong Jiang,Yang Zhou,Xuanping Huang,Nuo Zhou 한국응용생명화학회 2020 Applied Biological Chemistry (Appl Biol Chem) Vol.63 No.2

Platelet factor-4 variant 1 (PF4V1) was recently described as a natural non-allelic gene variant of platelet factor-4 (PF4), which has been closely associated with the growth and metastasis of various cancers. Our previous research showed that PF4V1 was related to oral squamous cells carcinoma (OSCC) metastasis. Howerver, it is still not clear about the functional role of PF4V1 in OSCC. In this study, stably transfected cell lines were constructed and the expression level of PF4V1 was verified by real‐time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and western blot. The effect of PF4V1 on proliferation, migration, invasion, and apoptosis of oral cancer (OC) cells were detected. Moreover, a xenograft tumor model was constructed to evaluate the effect of PF4V1 on OSCC in vivo. Indicators of Wnt/β-catenin, angiogenesis and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) pathways were also examined. Stable cell lines with overexpression and inhibited expression of PF4V1 were constructed successfully. After stable transfection, PF4V1 significantly promoted the proliferation, migration, and invasion of OC cells in vitro, and their tumor formation in vivo. Furthermore, PF4V1 remarkably promoted the expression of β-catenin, VEGF, and FGF but suppressed the expression of GSK-3β. There was no statistically significant correlation between PF4V1 and EMT pathway. This study provides evidence that PF4V1 promotes the proliferation, migration, invasion and tumor formation of OC cells by regulating the Wnt/β-catenin pathway and angiogenesis. Our findings suggest that PF4V1 could be a very promising target of OSCC therapy in the future.

Study on the Interaction of Compound Bonded Magnets

        Ying Chang,Nuo Ma,Xiaojun Yu,Fazeng Lian,Wei Li 한국자기학회 2004 Journal of Magnetics Vol.9 No.4

The attempt for the addition of double-phase nanocomposite Nd₂Fe₁₄B/Fe₃B powders, respectively, into several RE₂Fe₁₄B (RE=Pr, Nd) powders with high magnetic properties was carried out. The powders were compounded and compressed to take shape bonded magnets. By means of investigating the variation of compound magnet Br, the interaction between magnetic powders was revealed. The result shows that not chemical just but physical interaction exists between elements. The compound effect of Nd₂Fe₁₄B/Fe₃B-ferrite bonded magnets was detailed studied. The functional relation was revealed between magnetic properties and ferrite content. That is Y = 5.42 x²-11.34 x + 6.62. The variation of iHc temperature coefficient β_(iHc) with ferrite content was investigated. Following the ferrite content increased, β_(iHc) and hirr were obviously decreased, compression-resistant strength was enhanced.

Multi-Sensor Multi-Target Passive Locating and Tracking

Mei Liu,Nuo Xu,Haihao Li 대한전기학회 2007 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.5 No.2

The passive direction finding cross localization method is widely adopted in passive tracking, therefore there will exist masses of false intersection points. Eliminating these false intersection points correctly and quickly is a key technique in passive localization. A new method is proposed for passive locating and tracking multi-jammer target in this paper. It not only solves the difficulty of determining the number of targets when masses of false intersection points existing, but also solves the initialization problem of elastic network. Thus this method solves the problem of multi-jammer target correlation and the elimination of static false intersection points. The method which dynamically establishes multiple hypothesis trajectory trees solves the problem of eliminating the remaining false intersection points. Simulation results show that computational burden of the method is lower, the elastic network can more quickly find all or most of the targets and have a more probability of locking the real targets. This method can eliminate more false intersection points.

Expression of Human FGF18 by Fusion with Oleosin in Arabidopsis thaliana Seeds

        Chao Jiang,Xiaokun Li,Feng Zhai,Nuo Xu,Jing Yang,Yunpeng Wang,Libo Jin,Haiyan Li 한국식물학회 2018 Journal of Plant Biology Vol.61 No.3

Expression of recombinant human fibroblast growthfactor 18 (hFGF18) in mammalian cells and Escherichia colihas been extensively used for fundamental research andclinical applications, but they are difficult, expensive. Theexpression of recombinant proteins fused to oleosin proteinhave distinct advantages, such as safety, ease, low cost. Sowe have expressed hFGF18 fused to oleosin protein in the oilbodies of Arabidopsis thaliana (A. thaliana) and screen theproliferation effect of NIH3T3 cells. The vector of oleosinhFGF18fusion gene was constructed and transformed intowild A. thaliana. Transformed A. thaliana lines were obtainedby the floral dip method and confirmed using polymerasechain reaction (PCR). The PCR results indicated that theoleosin-hFGF18 fusion gene was integrated into the A. thaliana genome. The oil bodies expression of oleosin-hFGF18was confirmed by sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamidegel electrophoresis and western blotting. The biologicalactivity showed that oil bodies expressing oleosin-hFGF18could stimulate the proliferation of NIH3T3 cells.

      • A New Algorithm of Color Image Digital Watermarking

        De-qin Yan,Nuo Li 한국멀티미디어학회 2006 한국멀티미디어학회 국제학술대회 Vol.2006 No.-

As a main method for copyright protection, the techniques of digital watermarking have been widely researched and used. However the practical techniques in color image digital watermarking is lesser studied, especially for the embedding algorithm of grayscale watermarking signal. By considering the characteristic of Human Visual System (HVS), proposed method in this paper adopts YIQ color space, and embeds a grayscale image into the luminance Y of the color image by using discrete cosine transform, and increases the bit embedding quantity in more complex blocks. In addition, through Amold transform, the watermarking image is hashed to eliminate the spatial correlation among pixels, which enhances the algorithm's anti-attack ability. The experimental results show that the proposed watermarking scheme is robust to various attacks such as noise adding, JPEG compression, cropping, and image enhancement.

Expression and characterization of a novel microbial GH9 glucanase, IDSGLUC9-4, isolated from sheep rumen

        Zhu Yongzhen,Bai Shuning,Li Nuo,Wang Jun-Hong,Wang Jia-Kun,Wang Qian,Wang Kaiying,Zhang Tietao 아세아·태평양축산학회 2024 Animal Bioscience Vol.37 No.9

Objective: This study aimed to identify and characterize a novel endo-β-glucanase, IDSGLUC9-4, from the rumen metatranscriptome of Hu sheep. Methods: A novel endo-β-glucanase, IDSGLUC9-4, was heterologously expressed in Escherichia coli and biochemically characterized. The optimal temperature and pH of recombinant IDSGLUC9-4 were determined. Subsequently, substrate specificity of the enzyme was assessed using mixed-linked glucans including barley β-glucan and Icelandic moss lichenan. Thin-layer chromatography (TLC), high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), matrix assisted laser desorption ionization time of flight mass spectrometry analyses were conducted to determine the products released from polysaccharides and cello-oligosaccharides substrates. Results: The recombinant IDSGLUC9-4 exhibited temperature and pH optima of 40°C and pH 6.0, respectively. It exclusively hydrolyzed mixed-linked glucans, with significant activity observed for barley β-glucan (109.59±3.61 μmol/mg min) and Icelandic moss lichenan (35.35±1.55 μmol/mg min). TLC and HPLC analyses revealed that IDSGLUC9-4 primarily released cellobiose, cellotriose, and cellotetraose from polysaccharide substrates. Furthermore, after 48 h of reaction, IDSGLUC9-4 removed most of the glucose, indicating transglycosylation activity alongside its endo-glucanase activity. Conclusion: The recombinant IDSGLUC9-4 was a relatively acid-resistant, mesophilic endo-glucanase (EC 3.2.1.4) that hydrolyzed glucan-like substrates, generating predominantly G3 and G4 oligosaccharides, and which appeared to have glycosylation activity. These findings provided insights into the substrate specificity and product profiles of rumen-derived GH9 glucanases and contributed to the expanding knowledge of cellulolytic enzymes and novel herbivore rumen enzymes in general.
