A diagnosis program of damage-symptom caused by fruit tree pest was developed using Portable Document Format (Docucom PDF). To construct program structure, the damage patterns of plants cased by pests and the morphological rhararteristics of pests were sorted by plant organs. Diagnoses are rallied out by selecting a host species > document symptoms arranged by plant organs > comparing similar symptoms of pests using step by step menu through damage symptoms. In addition, pest information can be accessed either through the scientific or common name of the pest organism.

본 연구의 목적은 통상적으로 사용되는 교정용 bonding monomer 대신에 liquid polish인 Biscover (Biscover, Bisco, Inc., Schaumburg, IL, USA)를 사용하였을 때 다양한 방향에서의 결합강도를 평가하기 위함이다. 120개의 소구치가 사용되었으며 37% 인산으로 산부식을 시행한 후 두 군으로 나누었다. Monomer 군에서는 통상적으로 사용되는 Resin monomer (Transbond XT Light cure adhesive primer, 3M/Unitek, Monrovia, CA, USA)를 도포하고, Biscover 군에서는 Biscover를 도포하고 광중합하였다. 두 군 모두 Transbond XT paste를 이용하여 브라켓을 접착하였으며 브라켓 접착 후 각 군은 다시 3개의 군으로 나누어 각각 전단, 인장, 전단/인장 복합강도를 측정하였다. 측정 후 현미경을 이용하여 치면에 남아 있는 접착제 양을 조사하여 ARI score를 기록하였으며 전자 현미경을 아용하여 접착계면을 관찰하였다. 전단 강도와 인장 강도는 Biscover 군이 Monomer 군보다 높았으며 전단/인장 복합 강도는 두 군 사이의 차이는 없었다. 또한 Monomer 군보다 Biscover 군의 치면에 접착제가 더 많이 남아있는 경향을 보였다. 본 실험으로 Biscover가 교정환자에서 결합강도의 손실 없이 resin monomer 대신 사용될 수 있음을 알 수 있었다.

본 연구는 건조 상태에서 second-order angulation을 변화시켰을 때 수종의 자가결찰브라켓과 일반적인 금속 트윈 브라켓 (Tomy, Ohkuma, Japan)의 건조 상태에서 마찰저항을 비교하였다. 일반적인 금속 브라켓의 마찰저항력은 200 ㎎의 결찰력하에서 측정되었고, .022 inch 브라켓과 .019×025 inch 각형 스테인레스스틸 호선이 사용되었다. 브라켓간 거리는 소구치 발치와와 비슷한 조건을 주기 위해서 18 ㎜ 간격을 두었으며, 각각의 archwire-bracket couple의 마찰력은 0°에서 4° 범위의 second order angle에서 측정되었다. 실험결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 자가결찰브라켓은 모든 각도의 범위에서 일반 금속 브라켓 보다 낮은 마찰력을 보였다. 0°와 1°에서는 일반 금속 브라켓의 마찰력이 가장 높고, 수동 자가결찰브라켓 (Damon SL II)의 마찰력이 가장 낮았다. 전체적으로 0°와 1°사이에서는 낮은 마찰력을 보였으나, 1°를 초과하는 범위에서는 마찰력이 급격히 증가하였다. 3°이상에서는 자가결찰브라켓의 종류에 따른 마찰력 차이가 통계학적으로 유의하기 않았다. 결론적으로 본 실험결과 수직적 차이가 심한 high canine과 같은 총생치아를 교정할 때 자가결찰브라켓이 일반적인 금속브라켓보다 유리하며, 심미적인 폴리카보네이트 소재의 자가결찰브라켓도 마찰력의 손실없이 효과적인 치료의 도구가 될 수 있음을 확인하였다.
Evaluation of the prognostic significances of γ-secretase genes in pancreatic cancer

<P>With the growing requirement for novel prognostic biomarkers for pancreatic cancer, many studies have focused on clinical and/or genomic variables. Although many studies have been performed, carbohydrate antigen 19-9 is the only biomarker in clinical use. Therefore, the present study examined whether γ-secretase genes, including presenilin (<I>PSEN</I>), nicastrin (<I>NCSTN</I>), presenilin enhancer protein 2 (<I>PSENEN</I>), and anterior pharynx-defective 1 (<I>APH1</I>-), could serve as prognostic factors for pancreatic cancer. The cohorts selected included >100 pancreatic cancer patients. Patient data were downloaded from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Gene Expression Omnibus (GSE21501). The prognostic roles of the γ-secretase genes were analyzed by several survival analysis methods. Among the γ-secretase genes, the prognosis tended to be worse in the 2 cohorts with increasing expression of <I>PSEN1, APH1A</I>, and <I>PSENEN</I>, while the remaining genes were the opposite in the 2 cohorts. Notably, although the patient characteristics were quite different, <I>APH1A</I> was statistically significantly associated with prognosis in the 2 cohorts. The hazard ratio of <I>APH1A</I> for overall survival was 1.598 (TCGA) and 2.724 (GSE21501). These results contribute to the study of γ-secretase in pancreatic cancer. We believe that γ-secretase, particularly <I>APH1A</I>, will be a new prognostic biomarker for pancreatic cancer.</P>

Novel new red-light emitting perylene fluoroionophore N,N'-dipropyl-1,7-bis(calix[4]azacrown-5-crown-5)- 3,4,9,10-perylene tetracarboxy diimide (3) was prepared by reacting N,N'-dipropyl-1,7-dibromo-3,4,9,10- perylene tetracarboxy diimide (1) with calix[4]azacrown-5-crown-5. Also the alternating copolymer (4) with similar repeating unit was prepared reacting by calix[4]bisazacrown-5 with 1. Metal ion binding by 3 and 4 leads to a blue-shift of absorption band and emission spectra. When ionophoric characteristics were investigated by binding alkali, alkali earth metal and various metal ions, polymeric ionophores displayed large fluorescence decreasing effects with K+, Ag+ and Ba2+, which was rationalized by photo-induced charge transfer (PCT).

Preoperative assessment of electrocardiographical(EKG) abnormalities in the patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage(SAH) is important. Authors analyzed 58 SAH patients who had EKG abnormalities of neurogenic origin. EKG abnormalities consisted of T wave abnormality, arrhythmia. ST segment change. QT prolongation and U wave. Five patients were dead in this study because of brain swelling(3cases) and cerebral spasm(2 cases). EKG abnormalities were normalized 13 days after aneurysmal SAH. Radioactive nuclear(^(99m)Tc-pyrophosphate) scan of myocardial revealed normal findings in the patients with EKG abnormalities of neurogenic origin. It is concluded that life-saving surgical intervention need not be delayed in the patients with EKG abnormalities of neurogenic origin. On the other hand, patients who had cardiac origin EKG abnormalities need a careful and detailed preanesthetic cardiac evaluation.
Electrical manipulation of nanofilaments in transition-metal oxides for resistance-based memory.

<P>The fabrication of controlled nanostructures such as quantum dots, nanotubes, nanowires, and nanopillars has progressed rapidly over the past 10 years. However, both bottom-up and top-down methods to integrate the nanostructures are met with several challenges. For practical applications with the high level of the integration, an approach that can fabricate the required structures locally is desirable. In addition, the electrical signal to construct and control the nanostructures can provide significant advantages toward the stability and ordering. Through experiments on the negative resistance switching phenomenon in Pt-NiO-Pt structures, we have fabricated nanofilament channels that can be electrically connected or disconnected. Various analyses indicate that the nanofilaments are made of nickel and are formed at the grain boundaries. The scaling behaviors of the nickel nanofilaments were closely examined, with respect to the switching time, power, and resistance. In particular, the 100 nm x 100 nm cell was switchable on the nanosecond scale, making them ideal for the basis for high-speed, high-density, nonvolatile memory applications.</P>
