Intense excimer laser irradiation of polymer films results in expansion and the following contraction , recovering ithe initial flat surface. The morphological dynamics is meausred directly by nanosecond time-resolved interferometry for polystyrene(PS), polyurethane, and polyimide films. The expansion proceeds with a speed of a few nm/ns , while the contraction depends upon the polymer ; very low contraction for PS, rapid 2 component shrinking for polyurethane, and rapid monotonous decay for polymide. These characteristic behavior are considered from viewpoints of interpenetrating structures of polymers, glass-rubber phase transitioni, thermal diffusion, and photothermal mechanism.

CAD (Computer Aided Diagnosis) system that has 3-D viewer function to display the DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communication in Medicine) image has been developed in recent years. Now, the function of CAD system for artificial implant to which development is advanced includes the removal of artifact in the input DICOM image, region extraction of bone, major vessel, and nerve and mounting of function to presume place where implant is stricken. However, it is still required a software with high performance because of taking the processing time to do a series of operation before simulating by the strike of the implant on the operation on a clinical site. In this paper, we propose the function to extract the area of bone separately for teeth and mandibles automatically as addition to the system that can do a series of operation before simulating by the strike of the implant. In addition, we proposed also the function to extract each tooth separately. The main aim of this paper is to develop the integrative system for the dental screening that can be operated in a personal computer.

Currently in Japan, there is strong encouragement from the government for people to move to the countryside, including the depopulated areas far from the city. However, there are still are many people who want to move to the cities, especially Tokyo, where diverse people gather and live. Most new cultural developments begin in “the cities,” where city culture is intermixed with various traditional cultures, urbanization, and urban folklore. City culture is changed by people living in the city and new city culture comes from people with a range of various traditional cultural backgrounds, but until now it has been unclear how much they have brought and preserved of their own cultures. This paper studies a family (the T family) from M village in Nagano and compares what and how much changed in the way they celebrated their Bon Festival after they moved to Tokyo. It also compares the role of the family during Bon. In studies of city folklore, not much research has focused on how country people moving to the city changes their traditional cultures due to a change in living environment. For this study, I focused on one event and reported each family member’s actual situation before and after moving, including the family’s change in consciousness of their roles.

We report the first high-pressure 11B-NMR studies above 3 GPa on the intermediate-valencesemiconductor SmB6. A 11B-NMR line obtained at 4.9 GPa, the highest pressure for the measurements, and at 1.9 K shows quite similar a line shape to that at ambient pressure, indicating nostructural or magnetic phase transition up to this pressure. The temperature dependence of thespin lattice relaxation rate 1/T1 at 4.9 GPa still exhibits an activation-type temperature dependencecharacteristic of semiconductors, which reveals an obvious decrease in the insulating gap byabout 30% compared to the gap at ambient pressure. The present experimental facts of a finiteinsulator gap and no magnetic order at 4.9 GPa are consistent with recent transport measurementsperformed under better hydrostatic pressures.
