The surface adsorbed protein conformations onto the vaccine adjuvants were observed with a Raman spectroscopy by using the maximum adsorption conditions described previously. The adsorbed state Raman vibrational spectra and subsequent spectral analysis display no conformational changes for BSA or lgG relative to their native species in solution.

Preparation, structure, and properties of cellulose nanofibril/silk sericin composite film

Recently, sericin has attracted increasing attention in biomedical and cosmetic research because of its useful properties including acceleration of wound healing, improvement of cell attachment, and inhibition of ultraviolet-B induced apoptosis. However, sericin films have poor mechanical properties, which restricts the application to those fields. In this study, cellulose nanofibril (CNF)/sericin composite films were fabricated by solvent casting, and the effects of ultrasonication time and CNF content on the solution turbidity, molecular conformation, and film mechanical properties of sericin film were examined. As the ultrasonication time increased, the turbidity of the CNF/sericin suspension decreased. Conversely, as the CNF content increased, the turbidity increased. However, b-sheet crystallization and mechanical properties remained almost unchanged by varying the ultrasonication time and CNF content, indicating that CNF is not effective to improve the mechanical properties of sericin films.

Adsorption of Globular Proteins to Vaccine Adjuvants

The maximum adsorption/desorption conditions and the adsorption mechanism of globular proteins to vaccine adjuvants were determined. The maximum adsorption ratio of protein to the Al³+ content of aluminum oxyhydroxide and the optimal adsorption pH are 2:1 (㎍:㎍) for bovine serum albumin (BSA) at pH 6.0 and 2.5:1 (㎍:㎍) for immunoglobulin G (lgG) ar pH 7.0, respectively. The maximum adsorption ratio onto aluminum phosphate gel was 1.5:1 (㎍ Protein:㎍ Al³+) at pH 5.0 for both BSA and lgG. Adsorption of the native globular proteins, BSA and lgG, to aluminum oxyhydroxide and aluminum phosphate gel was reversible as a function of pH. Complete desorption of these proteins from aluminum phosphate gel was observed at alkaline pH, whereas only 80∼90% removal from aluminum oxyhydroxide was achieved with alkaline pH and 50 mM phosphate buffer. We conclude that electrostatic and hydrogen bonding interactions between the native proteins and adjuvants are important binding mechanisms for adsorption, and that the surface charge of the protein and the colloid components control the maximum adsorption conditions.

Despite little change in the quality of urban amenities and a declining population, Gwangju Metropolitan City experienced a dramatic increase in the sales prices of apartment units since a series of housing market measurements, including the upward adjustment in property tax rates and home-purchase restrictions in a speculative area, mostly designated in Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon. Employing difference-in-differences (DID), we estimate the effects of the external housing demands on housing prices in Gwangju while controlling for the effect of local housing demand with the pre-to-postintervention of housing policy practices. We found that policy intervention and external housing demand are positively associated with sales prices of apartments in the local housing market of Gwangju. This implies that speculation-related pseudo-demand plays a role in surges of sales prices. Despite the strong dependency of the housing market on localities, the movement of pseudo-demand on real estate investment at the interregional or national level needs to be identified and considered in policy design.

Home prices have surged for few years in Greater Gwangju area, one of the South Korean metropolitan cities loosing demographic, social, and economic vitalities and potentials for a long period of time. With a recent decline in housing supply, regulatory financial measures by central government to address speculation and stabilize housing market in some targeted areas, mostly in Seoul Metropolitan area would result in the unprecedented ironic situation in Gwangju, significantly distant from the geographic boundaries of housing market of Seoul. It would not be enough to explain the characteristics of the housing price fluctuation in Gwangju unless the contribution of external demands for housing in a local housing market is considered. Although such external factors presumably affect local housing market, there is a lack of studies to identify and test the impacts of the external demands or financial factors on the local housing market. This study aims to investigate the impacts of external demands for housing on the fluctuation characteristics of housing prices in Gwangju before and after announcement of real estate policy measures, not applicable for housing market in the city, using the Difference-in-Difference method.

성인발달장애인들의 서비스 직업훈련이 사회성 향상에 미치는 영향에 관한 탐색적 연구

연구 목적: 성인발달장애인에게 서비스직업훈련이 사회성 향상에 긍정적인 영향을 미치고 있는지 연구하고자 한다. 연구 방법: 발달장애인 2명을 대상으로 서비스직업훈련을 3개월 10회기 집중 훈련하여 사전·사후검사를 동일하게 실시하여 비교 분석하였다. 연구 내용: 사전·사후검사로 자기관리기술, 대인관계변화, 사회행동척도를 중심으로 검사하였으며 수집된 자료를 통해 변화를 알아보기 위한 대응표본 t-test를 실시하였다. 결론 및 제언: 첫째, 자기관리 기술로 규칙적인 삶의 태도를 강화시켜 자신을 스스로 돌아보고, 점검하는 여유를 보여주는등 자기관리에 향상된 모습을 보였다. 둘째, 대인관계 형성에서 친절한서비스(표정, 언어)등이 직업현장에서와 일상생활에서도 나타났다. 셋째, 사회행동 향상에도 교사의 지시와 수동적 행동에서 회기를 거듭할수록 다음의 무엇을 할지? 자발적인 체크로 긍정적인 영향을 주었음을 알 수 있듯이 서비스직업훈련으로도 사회성이 향상됨을 알 수 있다. 발달장애인에게 서비스직업훈련은 단순히 직업을 갖기 위한 수단을 넘어 직접적인 사회 현장에서의 활동으로 그들에게 맞는 맞춤형 서비스직업훈련 과정이 필요하며, 개개인의 특성에 맞는 훈련시스템과 매뉴얼의 개발로 서비스 직업훈련의 확대를 통한 사회통합을 이룰 수 있도록 기대해 본다. The aim of this study is to provide service vocational training programs to adults dealing with developmental disabilities and assess whether an occupation involving interactions with non-disabled individuals positively influences their social skills. Method: Two participants with developmental disabilities underwent an intensive three-month training program. Data was collected across 10 sessions using the pre-test/post-test method for comparison. Research Context: This study utilized the pre-test/post-test method to gather data and analyzed changes in self-management skills, social interactions, and behavior through statistical t-tests. Conclusions and Recommendations: The service vocational training program notably enhanced the self-management skills of the participants with developmental disabilities. This improvement led to a more structured daily life and increased self-reflection abilities. Additionally, participants exhibited enhanced interpersonal relationships both in their daily lives and at work, showcasing improvements in providing courteous service, telephone etiquette, and quality customer care. Furthermore, the vocational training program demonstrated advancements in social behavior. This signifies how consistent guidance from instructors encouraged proactive inquiry among students, showcasing a positive shift in their conduct. The objective of vocational training for those with developmental disabilities surpasses mere job acquisition. It aims to actively involve them in diverse vocational programs, helping them find their place in the workforce and society. By designing customized training systems and manuals that cater to individual needs, expanding vocational programs can foster social integration, aligning with our aspirations.

MWCNT/Fibrin Bionanocomposites by in situ Enzymatic Polymerization

In this work multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWCNT)/fibrin hybrid structures were synthesized via the transglutaminase- catalyzed polymerization of fibrinogen (FBG). Specifically, FBG was tethered onto oxidized MWCNTs by amide coupling, and the in situ polymerization of FBG to fibrin was performed by plasma transglutaminase (Factor XIIIa) in the presence of thrombin. The attached FBG was found to be biologically active and was polymerized to fibrin by thrombin and Factor XIIIa. MWCNT-FBG and MWCNT-Fibrin structures were characterized by FT-IR spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectroscopy.

Organizational Resource Based Perspective on e-CRM Satisfaction and e-CRM Success

The purpose of this study is to examine major factors affecting the e-CRM success. The e-CRM influence factors are identified as organizational perspective(process support, management support, and employee support) and resource-based perspective(customer orientation and technology orientation). This study investigates the relationship between e-CRM influence factors and e-CRM satisfaction and the relationship between e-CRM satisfaction and e-CRM success. We collected 171 questionnaires from e-CRM users, and analyzed the research model by AMOS 18.0. The results of this study are as follows. Firstly, process support, management support, employee support, and technology orientation had a positive effect on the e-CRM satisfaction, but the customer orientation had not an effect on e-CRM satisfaction. Secondly, e-CRM satisfaction positively influenced e-CRM success. This study would provide companies with valuable guidelines for the implementation and introduction of e-CRM systems.
