In this paper we describe ATM QoS parameters over satellite channel. The channel coding technique for better BER performance has its limit under the satellite channel environment. Using the FEC coding, it leads to burst error characteristics which bring into serious performance degradation of ATM QoS. Therefore to solve this problem, we introduce various interleaving methods and analyze the performance of interleaving using computer simulation.

반도체 레이저의 이득 스위칭에 의한 초단 펄스 발생에 대해 체계적으로 연구하였다. 즉, 동작 파라메터인 DC 바이어스 및 RF 정현파 전력에 따른 초단 이득 스위칭된 출력 펄스의 특성을 조사하였다. 최적의 펄스는 문턱 전류 부근의 DC 바이어스에서 얻어졌으며, RF 전력이 클수록 이 최적의 DC 바이어스는 감소하였다. 출력 펄스 폭은 RF 전력이 증가할수록 DC 바이어스의 변화에 덜 민감하게 나타났다. We study systematically on short pulse generation from a semiconductor laser by gain-switching. We examine the dependence of gain-switched pulse characteristics on the operating parameters, such as DC bias and RF power. The optimum short pulses are obtained around threshold DC bias. As the RF power increases, The DC bias to show shorter pulse width decreases slightly and the pulse width becomes less sensitive to the variations of the DC bias.

Ionic conductivities of PMMA-based polymer blends plasticized with poly (ethylene glycol) methyl ether(PEGMe) complexed with LiCLO4 have been investigated for applications in lithium battery. These solid polymer electrolytes are studied at room temperature using impedance analysis technique and FT-IR. Maximum ionic conductivity at room temperature was measured to be 5.9×10-5 S/cm in the free standing film state for PMMA concentratin of 17% w/w. The ionic conductivity decreases at higher PMMA concentration of 30% w/w, since the nonconducting area according to the phase separation of PMMA increases. The phase separation of PMMA in polymer electrolytes was shown by the absorbance variation of the carbonyl peak of PMMA.

<P>Conclusion: Our data present experimental evidence for the potential of CGplus as an herbal therapeutic against NAFLD and NASH. Its underlying mechanisms may involve the modulations of pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines, but further study is required especially for the actions of CGplus on lipid metabolisms.</P>

<P>This research demonstrates a simple method for synthesizing titanium dioxide nanoparticle-decorated carbon nanofibers. In this presentation, design and syntheses of novel functional liquid crystal molecules prepared at the Synthetic Polymer Laboratory of Electronics and Optics (SPLEO) will be summarized. This will include a variety of novel functional molecules such as discotic liquid crystals based on tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) for electron donor, reactive mesogens based on thiol-ene polymerization system, lyotropic chromonic liquid crystals for coatable polarizer, and photo-sensitive liquid crystalline polymers for photo-induced actuator.

This study investigated the effect of pre-planting nitrogen (N) fertilization levels added to a soilless root medium on the growth of 'Dotaerang Dia' tomato seedlings. The N levels were varied for a total of 7 treatments: 0, 100, 250, 500, 750, 1,000, or $1,500mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$. The pH of the root media gradually rose in all treatments as the seedlings grew; however, the differences in the pH were not significant among the treatments. The electrical conductivity (EC) of the root media was significantly different among the treatments from sowing to week three, then drastically decreased after week four, which diminished the differences in the EC among the treatments. At week six, plant height, leaf length, leaf width, number of leaves, and fresh and dry weights of the shoot were highest for the treatment with $500mg{\cdot}L^{-1}N$. In contrast, the treatment with $1,500mg{\cdot}L^{-1}N$ had the lowest results for all growth measurements. The fresh weight was 67% heavier in the $500mg{\cdot}L^{-1}N$ treatment compared to the $1,500mg{\cdot}L^{-1}N$ treatment. The total N content in the tissues was lowest in the treatment with $0mg{\cdot}L^{-1}N$ and highest in the treatment with $1,000mg{\cdot}L^{-1}N$. The contents of calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), and metal micronutrients in the tissues were highest in the $250mg{\cdot}L^{-1}N$ treatment. A previous study demonstrated that adjusting the fertilization level to promote growth to over 90% of the maximum growth is a good strategy for lowering production costs and preventing damage due to excessive fertilizer absorption by crops. Our results indicated that the optimal pre-planting N fertilization level for tomato plug seedlings should be lower than $500mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ and the optimum tissue N contents should be around 3.21% to 4.60%.

synthesize a new positive-working photosensitive polyimide, alkali-soluble polyimide containing carboxylic acid side group was synthesized, and parts of its carboxylic acid groups were esterified with 4,5- dimethoxy-2-nitrobenzyl bromide. The chemical structure of the resulting polymer was characterized by 1HNMR and FT-IR spectroscopies. The substitution ratio of photosensitive groups was estimated by 1H-NMR integration values, and the thermal properties were examined by differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetric analyses. Upon UV irradiaition, 4,5-dimethoxy-2-nitrobenzyl moiety underwent the photodegradation with generation of carboxylic acid side groups as evidenced by UV/vis spectroscopy. As a result, the polymer became soluble in alkaline developer, and a micron-sized positive pattern was successfully fabricated from the synthesized polymer.
