Immune stress is the loss of immune homeostasis caused by external forces. The purpose of this experiment was to investigate the effects of immune stress on the growth performance, small intestinal enzymes and peristalsis rate, and mRNA expression of nutrient transporters in broiler chickens. Four hundred and thirty-two 1-d-old broilers (Cobb500) were randomly assigned to four groups for treatment; each group included nine cages with 12 birds per cage. Group 1 = no vaccine (NV); Group 2 = conventional vaccine (CV); group 3 = lipopolysaccharide (LPS)+conventional vaccine (LPS); group 4 = cyclophosphamide (CYP)+conventional vaccine (CYP). The results demonstrated that immune stress by LPS and CYP reduced body weight gain (BWG), feed intake (FI), small intestine peristalsis rate and sIgA content in small intestinal digesta (p<0.05). However, the feed conversion ratio (FCR) remained unchanged during the feeding period. LPS and CYP increased intestinal enzyme activity, relative expression of SGLT-1, CaBP-D28k and L-FABP mRNAs (p<0.05). LPS and CYP injection had a negative effect on the growth performance of healthy broiler chickens. The present study demonstrated that NV and CV could improve growth performance while enzyme activity in small intestine and relative expression of nutrient transporter mRNA of NV and CV were decreased in the conditions of a controlled rational feeding environment. It is generally recommended that broilers only need to be vaccinated for the diseases to which they might be exposed.

To clarify the influence of nano-graphite (NG) on the comprehensive performances of Nano-graphite/ PZT-PMN-PNN/RTV composites, composites with damping-absorption performances and storage-loss behaviors based on Room Temperature Vulcanizing silicone rubber (RTV), PZT matrix ceramics, NG as conductive agent were fabricated employing three steps methods of ball-milling, three-roller milling and pressing. The effects of NG on storage, loss and damping properties were investigated by the method of DMTA. Absorption and mechanical performances are measured by the method of standing wave tube and TG. The morphologies, chemical and phase structures of composites are characterized by SEM, XRD and IR. The research indicated that both doping of NG and the combination of PZT-PMN-PNN/RTV can be proposed to improve greatly the comprehensive performance of RTV matrixes. There would be more excellent comprehensive properties in NG/PZT-PMN-PNN/RTV composites as increasing rate of 65% in d33, storage modulus of 3010 MPa, loss modulus of 205 MPa, and damping coefficient tand of 0.26 and, absorption coefficients of 0.6e0.7 with the frequency of 400e1600 Hz. Also, the improvement in NG amounts for composites can lead to the enforcement of stress for NG/ZT-PMN-PNN/RTV composites, but it caused neither the preferential growth in any a single crystal surface, nor the appearance of solid solution.
R&D Status of High-current Accelerators at IFP

High-current accelerators have many important applications in Z-pinches, high-power microwaves, and free electron lasers, imploding liners and radiography and so on. Research activities on Zpinches, imploding liners, radiography at the Institute of Fluid Physics (IFP) are introduced. Several main high-current accelerators developed and being developed at IFP are described, such as the Linear Induction Accelerator X-Ray Facility Upgrade (LIAXFU, 12 MeV, 2.5 kA, 90 ns), the Dragon-I linear induction accelerator (20 MeV, 2.5 kA, 60 ns), and the Primary Test Stand for Z-pinch (PTS, 10 MA, 120 ns). The design of Dragon-II linear induction accelerator (20 MeV, 2.5 kA, 3 × 60 ns) to be built will be presented briefly.
Enhanced electrical properties of lead-free Bi4xSbxTi3O12 ceramics with high Tc

Bi4-xSbxTi3O12 (BST) ceramics were prepared and studied in this work in terms of Sb3+-modified microstructure and phase development as well as electrical response. By increasing Sb content, the phase structure of the ceramics changed from orthorhombic (Bi4Ti3O12-like) to pyrochlore (Bi2Ti2O7-like) phase. Raman spectroscopy showed that the intensities of the lattice vibration modes at frequencies decrease,whereas all bands and bandwidths in all frequency numbers also demonstrate changes. According to the results processed from SEM, Sb3+ into the Bi4Ti3O12 (BIT) matrix had the effect of increasing the material grain size. εr, εm, Pr, d33 and Tc of Bi3.90Sb0.10Ti3O12 ceramics are found to be 307, 3492, 8.09 mC cm-2,18 pC/N and 660 ℃, respectively. And Bi4-xSbxTi3O12 ceramics have good temperature stability, which is very suitable for the practical high-temperature applications.

The torsion of a penny-shaped crack in a transversely isotropic strip is investigated in this paper. The shear moduli are functionally graded in such a way that the mathematics is tractable. Hankel transform is used to reduce the problem to solving a Fredholm integral equation. The crack tip stress field is obtained by taking the asymptotic behavior of Bessel function into account. The effects of material property parameters and geometry criterion on the stress intensity factor are investigated. Numerical results show that increasing the shear moduli's gradient and/or increasing the shear modulus in a direction perpendicular to the crack surface can suppress crack initiation and growth, and that the stress intensity factor varies little with the increasing of the strip's height.

CCTO (Calcium copper titanate) powder as inorganic filler was synthesized by the Sol-gel method firstly. CCTO/ PVDF (Polyvinylidene fluoride) composite was fabricated by solution mixing based on high temperature resistance of PVDF and insulated property of CCTO. The composite of CCTO/PVDF were characterized by X-ray diffraction, Fourier Transform infrared spectroscopy, Scanning Electron Microscope and impedance analysis. The results showed that the addition of CCTO and increasing in its content did not affect the phase- and microstructure of the composites,but the increase of CCTO content can induce the generation of C–F new bonds. PVDF/CCTO composites were enhanced in performance of thermal and frequency-depended stability with increasing in the fraction of CCTO. The dielectric constant of CCTO/PVDF composite materials with 50% CCTO achieved to a maximum value of 50 almost, which is 5 times higher the pure PVDF. The conductivity felled into 10-8 to 10-1 S m-1 during the frequency of 102–108 Hz. The composite material would be expected to be applied in the field of integrated circuit.

<P>The role of astrocytes in brain plasticity has not been extensively studied compared with that of neurons. Here we adopted integrative translational and reverse-translational approaches to explore the role of an astrocyte-specific major water channel in the brain, aquaporin-4 (AQP4), in brain plasticity and learning. We initially identified the most prevalent genetic variant of AQP4 (single nucleotide polymorphism of rs162008 with C or T variation, which has a minor allele frequency of 0.21) from a human database (n = 60 706) and examined its functionality in modulating the expression level of AQP4 in an in vitro luciferase reporter assay. In the following experiments, AQP4 knock-down in mice not only impaired hippocampal volumetric plasticity after exposure to enriched environment but also caused loss of long-term potentiation after theta-burst stimulation. In humans, there was a cross-sectional association of rs162008 with gray matter (GM) volume variation in cortices, including the vicinity of the Perisylvian heteromodal language area (Sample 1, n = 650). GM volume variation in these brain regions was positively associated with the semantic verbal fluency. In a prospective follow-up study (Sample 2, n = 45), the effects of an intensive 5-week foreign language (English) learning experience on regional GM volume increase were modulated by this AQP4 variant, which was also associated with verbal learning capacity change. We then delineated in mice mechanisms that included AQP4-dependent transient astrocytic volume changes and astrocytic structural elaboration. We believe our study provides the first integrative evidence for a gliogenetic basis that involves AQP4, underlying language-associated brain plasticity.</P>
Numerical Investigation of Pressure Fluctuation Reducing in Draft Tube of Francis Turbines

For a prototype turbine operating under part load conditions, the turbine output is fluctuating strongly, leading to the power station incapable of connecting to the grid. The field test of the prototype turbine shows that the main reason is the resonance between the draft tube vortex frequency and the generator natural vibration frequency. In order to reduce the fluctuation of power output, different measures including the air admission, water admission and adding flow deflectors in the draft tube are put forward. CFD method is adopted to simulate the three-dimensional unsteady flow in the Francis turbine, to calculate pressure fluctuations in draft tube under three schemes and to compare with the field test result of the prototype turbine. Calculation results show that all the three measures can reduce the pressure pulsation amplitude in the draft tube. The method of water supply and adding flow deflector both can effectively change the frequency and avoid resonance, thus solving the output fluctuation problem. However, the method of air admission could not change the pressure fluctuation frequency.
