A glass product manufacturing company transports a large number of flat glass products from a manufacturing firm to a building construction site. The products are transported using specially designed racks, which assure fewer glass breakages during the deliveries. This study determines the sizes of the racks which minimize the total logistics cost including costs for rack purchasing, handling, transportation, and inventory costs. The determination of the rack size should consider tradeoff relationships between the amount of glasses piled in a rack and the number of racks loaded on a truck, and affects the required number of racks and the truck operational cost. A truck loading algorithm is proposed to maximize a high truck utilization, and an enumeration method is proposed to determine the optimal combination of rack sizes considering the total logistics cost. The numerical example is solved by using a real data.

탈모 방지의 목적으로 사용되는 양모제는 현재 우리나라에서 의약외품이며 약사법으로 관리되고 있다. 최근 탈모에 대한 사회적 관심이 증가하면서 양모제에 대한 수요도 증가하고 있는 실정이지만 양모제는 생약추출물, 비타민류, 보존제 등 다양한 종류의 성분이 혼합되어 있어 분석이 쉽지 않다. 본 연구에서는 양모제의 주성분으로 많이 쓰이는 니코틴산아미드, 덱스판테놀, 살리실산, 초산토코페롤, 니코틴산벤질에 대한 동시분석법을 확립하고자 하였다. 시판 중인 양모제를 구입하여 C18 컬럼, 아세토니트릴과 인산염완충액을 용매로 사용하여 HPLC로 분석하였다. 검출은 자외부흡광광도계를 이용하여 220, 270, 300 nm 파장에서 분석하였으며, 12.5 ∼ 800 μg/mL 농도범위에서 검량선을 작성하였다. 회수율은 액상기제의 경우 97.3 ∼ 103.5 % (상대표준편차 0.9 ∼ 2.8 %), 샴푸기제의 경우 101.9 ∼ 115.9 % (상대표준편차 0.7 ∼ 7.7 %)로 양호한 결과를 나타냈다. 시판중인 검체의 함량 시험결과 기준에 적합하였으며, 본 분석법을 이용하여 품질관리 및 추후 양모제 개발에 유용하게 활용함으로써 우수한 품질의 양모제 유통에 크게 기여할 것으로 기대된다. The hair nourisher products are used for prevention of hair loss and classified as quasi-drug in Korea. As concerns about hair loss has been increased, the demand for hair nourisher products has been growing. It is difficult to analyze their main ingredients because they contain various ingredients including natural plant extracts, vitamins, preservatives and exfoliators. The purpose of this study was to develop and validate simultaneous analytical methods of active ingredients in hair nourisher products such as nicotinamide, tocopherol, salicylic acid, dexpanthenol and benzyl nicotinate by HPLC. The active ingredients were separated on a C18 column by using acetonitrile/ phosphate buffer as a mobile phase, and detected at UV 220, 270 and 300 nm. The calibration curve showed linearity in the range of 12.5 ∼ 800 μg/mL and the recoveries were 97.3 ∼ 103.5 % (RSD 0.9 ∼ 2.8 %) in liquid matrix and 101.9 ∼ 115.9 % (RSD 0.7 ∼ 7.7 %) in shampoo matrix. Validated method was applied to hair nourisher products obtained from distribution market. Fortunately, all samples met their criteria. This study might be expected to provide the method for determining active ingredients in hair nourisher products and lead to promote a rapid market entry.

우리나라 대표 채소중의 하나인 무의 지상부는 과거 채소가 귀했던 겨울철 주요한 단백질, 비타민, 미네랄, 식이섬유 공급원으로 이용되어 왔으며, 무청김치 및 우거지 등으로 식용되어 왔다. 그러나, 최근의 도시와 농촌의 격리, 산업화의 정착, 식생활 습관의 변화 등으로 인해, 무청은 대부분 폐기되고 있는 실정이며, 무청의 효율적인 이용 및 유용생리활성에 대한 연구는 미미한 상태이다. 본 연구에서는 무청을 이용한 새로운 건강식품소재 개발 연구의 일환으로 조선무의 무청을 대상으로 ethanol 추출물 및 이의 순차적 유기용매 분획물들을 조제하여, 이들의 항균, 항산화 및 항혈전 활성들을 검토하였다. 그 결과 무청의 ethanol 추출물의 수율은 5.6%이었으며, 이들의 n-hexane, ethylacetate 및 butanol 분획 효율은 각각 25.3, 3.6, 19.4%로 나타났으며, 물 잔류물은 51.7%를 나타내었다. 총 폴리페놀 및 총 플라보노이드 함량 분석 결과 ethylacetate 분획에서 97.57 및 152.91 mg/g 의 매우 높은 함량을 나타내었으며, ethylacetate 분획물은 매우 강력한 항균, 항산화, 및 항혈전 활성을 나타내었다. 먼저 항균 활성의 경우 무청 n-hexane 및 ethylacetate 분획물은 그람 양성균(S. aureus, L. monocytogenes 및 B. subtilis)에 대해 양호한 항균 활성을 나타내었으며, 그람 음성균에서는 E. coli 및 P. aeruginosa를 제외한 P. vulgaris와 S. typhimurium에 대해 생육억제 활성을 나타내었다. 즉, 물 잔류물을 제외한 모든 분획물에서 부분적인 항세균활성이 나타나, 무청 추출물이 다양한 항세균 활성물질을 포함함을 확인하였다. 항산화 활성 평가 결과, ethylacetate 분획물에서 우수한 DPPH 소거능, ABTS 소거능, nitrite 소거능 및 환원력을 확인하였다. 또한 항혈전 활성 평가에서도 ethylacetate 분획물에서 양호한 트롬빈 및 프로트롬빈 억제활성과 함께, 강력한 내인성 혈전 생성억제를 확인하였다. 본 연구결과는 무청이 영양적 측면 및 유용생리활성 측면에서 매우 우수한 식품소재임을 제시하고 있으며, 무청을 이용한 기능성 식품 개발 및 ethylacetate 분획을 이용한 유용 소재개발의 기본 자료로 활용될 것이다. Radish (Raphanus sativus) is a common cruciferous vegetable, and its aerial parts, called Mu-chung in Korean, have plentiful nutritional components such as vitamins, minerals and dietary fibers. Mu-chung has been used as a kimchi, a traditional Korean fermented dish, and dried Mu-chung is an important component of soups commonly consumed during winter in Korea. Since the advent of the mass production of radish in Korea, with the segregation of farm areas and towns and changing diets, Mu-chung has mostly been discarded instead of utilized. In addition, studies concerning the efficient utilization and useful bioactivities of Mu-chung are still lacking worldwide. In this study, we prepared the ethanol extract of Mu-chung and its subsequent solvent fractions. Antimicrobial, antioxidation, and anticoagulation activities were then evaluated in the hopes of developing a functional biomaterial from Korean radishes` aerial parts. The ethanol extraction yield for hot-air dried Mu-chung was 5.6%, and the fraction yields of n-hexane (H), ethylacetate (EA), butanol (B) and water residue were 25.3, 3.6, 19.4, and 51.7%, respectively. Analysis of total polyphenol and total flavonoid contents showed that the EA fraction had the highest content (97.57 and 152.91 mg/g) amongst the fractions. In antimicrobial activity assays, the H and EA fractions were effective against gram positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus, Listeria monocytogenes, and Bacillus subtilis), but not effective against gram negative bacteria (Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa). The B fraction also exhibited moderate antibacterial activity, suggesting that the extract of Mu-chung has various antibacterial components. In antioxidation activity assays, the EA fraction showed strong DPPH, ABTS and nitrite scavenging activities (69-222 μg/ml of IC50), including reducing power. In anticoagulation activity assays, the EA fraction demonstrated strong inhibition activity against human thrombin and prothrombin. Prominent anticoagulation activity was found in aPTT assays; the aPTT of the EA fraction was extended 15-fold compared than that of the solvent control. Our results suggest that Mu-chung is an attractive nutritional food material possessing useful bioactivities, and the EA fraction of Mu-chung could be developed as a functional food ingredient.

35종 해조류 추출물의 병원성 세균 및 Candida sp. 진균에 대한 항균 활성 평가

In the course of this study aimed at the development of functional food ingredients from seaweeds, the in vitro antimicrobial activities of methanol extracts prepared from 35 different seaweeds (17 phaeophyta, 11 rhodophyta and 7 chlorophyta) were determined against food-borne diseases and pathogenic microorganisms including multi-drug resistant (MDR) Pseudomonas sp. and Candida sp. Based on disc-diffusion assays at 500 g/disc concentration of the methanol extracts, Ishige okamurai, I. foliacea, Sargassum confusum, and S. yamade exhibited strong antibacterial activities in a broad-spectrum, except against Pseudomonas aeruginosa. In addition to the latter four seaweeds, Ecklonia stolonifera, E. cava and Eisenia bicyclis also demonstrated antifungal activity against C. albicans. Among these 8 selected seaweeds, I. okamurai, I. foliacea, and S. yamade exhibited strong hemolytic activity (55-93%) at 500 g/ml against human RBC. Organic solvent sequential fractions using hexane, ethylacetate and butanol, and water residues were prepared from the 8 selected seaweeds and their anti-Candida sp. activities were further determined. The ethylacetate and butanol fraction of I. okamurai, and the hexane fraction of I. foliacea demonstrated antifungal activity against MDR-pathogenic Candida sp. Although the solvent fractions had no activity against MDR-Pseudomonas sp., our results suggest that seaweeds, especially Ishige okamurai, I. foliacea, S. confusum, and S. yamade could be developed as broad-spectrum antimicrobial ingredients.
